It would be cool to see a video where you explain in more detail how you you use the program as well. Which tools and how you exactly apply them in real time. Maybe even just a small piece so it's not too time consuming. People could then apply those skills forward. I like the idea of the multiply layer for shadows.Great work.
This has been one of the best if not best AD tutorial I seen. I loved the walk-through of your process. Nobody is really making AD tutorial at the same level as AI tutorial. Ilk be checking if you have any other the and you artwork. Thanks bro!
All the artists have been great, but your broadcast is the one I most want to see. A little demonstration of how you use your brush pack would be great!
@@casillasmono No Pressure! 😅 Thank you so much! My video is more of a mini crash course on how I work through client projects, but I definitely talk a bit about my inking and colouring process!
I really appreciate your video and processes, as well as your style. Excellent work and thanks for the freebies! When all of this mess is said and done I will definitely purchase the full pack.
Amazing artwork bro. I did skull artwork so much. The more I watch these Affinity professional do there thing I get more inspired to go back to my childhood passion. Art brings me peace of mind. Thanks a lot man
I appreciate you taking the time to share your methods and workflow and sharing your brushes. What does working in a primarily vector app, Designer instead of doing it in Photo do for your workflow?
Honestly, I use both, either independently, or switching during the process using the "Edit in Photo/Designer" feature. Photo has a really nice and versatile set of raster tools, but Designer is a great 'all rounder'. It often just depends on my mood since they both have much of the same core tools that I use for my work. I chose Designer for this video as I figured that there would be a lot of awesome photographers using Photo for their Creative Sessions and diving into the tools in more detail.
Thank you! This was done using Affinity Designer for desktop, not iPad (although the entire process could easily be done using an iPad too). The only reason I used a vector later was so that I could easily tweak the colour. I used the mask to chip away at the shadow areas to reveal the lighting. :) *Edit: Whoops! Misunderstanding - I only just realised that you were watching on an iPad, not saying that I was using one. My bad!
It's a really useful little third party app called "Hej Stylus!", which has allows you to use a bunch of custom rulers. Sadly it's not free, but I use it so often that I definitely think it more than pays itself off.
I enjoyed the commentary, but found the constant triple speed of the video difficult to watch. Perhaps in future, for clarity, run the video at normal speed to clearly demonstrate a point or technique, then reserve triple speed (or even a jump cut) to fast forward through the repetitive steps.
Mark Oehlschlager I’ll definitely keep that in mind if I ever do another video lesson. This is the first time I’ve ever done a video explaining my process in this way, so I guess we’re all learning throughout the process. :) I hope you still managed to learn something from the commentary!
is there a way in affinity designer pixel persona, to snap a line to a perfectly straight line or perfect circle ; at the end of a stroke ( kind of like procreate does it?)
So sorry for the late reply here! If you go to ‘View’ you can select ‘Rotate Left/Right’. I’ve created custom keyboard shortcuts in Designer’s preferences for these so that I can quickly rotate the canvas while I work.
Thanks for your question could you please elaborate a little on the problem you're having and I'll do my best to answer :). Are you aiming to recolour a vector or raster shape, and were you intending to use a gradient or simply use a flat colour too?
Affinity , Hello. Thanks for the answer! :) Vector drawing. A strip appears between the stroke and the flat color when the stroke and color are the same color.
This, for me, was way too sped up to be of much use. In fact some parts were nausea inducing. A real pity because the art work was incredible. I just couldn't tell how he was achieving it, it was so fast.
Duke SC Sorry about that! I realise some parts were pretty speedy, but since I did a full project overview I didn’t want to get too caught up in explaining all the tiny details. I still hope that you managed to learn a few new tricks! :)
@@dukesc5562 I'm afraid not as it would be a full day's worth of work. While it may be interesting seeing the video at a normal speed, there isn't really 'too' much going on besides drawing lines and creating selections using the freehand selection tool. I come from a background of drawing by hand, so my approach with digital is often to just grab a brush I like and then to draw until it's done. @@dukesc5562 A workaround would be to set the playback speed of the video to 0.25 (by clicking on the settings wheel on the down right corner of the video) and to turn off the sound.
This was a great workflow. Some diversity in the presenters would be great, especially for a creative software suite. Not one women? (Adding this comment back since is was deleted) BTW deleting my comment regarding diversity in presenters just makes you look bad, everything on the internet is permanent and captured. If you’re embarrassed about the question, maybe you should address it, the comment wasn’t negative but an observation.
It actually makes you look petty more than anything else. Instead of focusing on gender-politics, why not just appreciate the free learning and opportunities?
Bold Line Design, LLC I am petty but in this case it was an innocent comment that Kasey responded to just as innocently. what is petty is me trying to reply saying thank you and the message being deleted. I’m also not the only one who has made the comment. Creativity should explored through multiple viewpoints. If you don’t get that you’re probably in the wrong field. Now that’s me being petty😏.
As far as I'm aware we haven't deleted a comment like that? Was it on the one video we had to replace? Also, we have lots of great women creatives in the line-up this week : )
