Thank you for doing this! Usually, people aren't interested in Snow White's voices, let alone the oldest ones, and they tend to be compleatelly forgotten :(
A version that I look for a lot is Czech from 1938, I think Elly Rixová had an incredible singing voice! It must have been an incredible dubbing, but I think if it was available today many peoples would despise...
Yeah, I think it's mostly due to the LQ of some versions and because the majority of people don't like old fashioned/operatic voices or don't even give them a chance...I personally try to judge the voices according to the time the dubs where made, I do like some versions less than others but i'm not the kind of person who puts a version in last place just for being operatic.
@@symphonyofsorcery7527 Seems strange to keep redubbing it considering the movies never get rerecorded in English to match current sensibilites. Shouldn't it be off putting to have an obvious gap in sound quality between music and vocal tracks recorded decades after the fact? Snow White is very much a relic of it's time and I think the voices add to that time capsule feeling.
Thank you for this!! I love hearing the old dubbings. It's an art form all its own. I wish they'd all be restored and released on blu-ray with their translated title cards and scenes. It'd be an amazing experience
WHAT? There's lost dubs that have been found? Old Snow White dubs are my personal favorite. It's always been my favorite Disney since I was little. I recently purchased the Spanish 1994 VHS with the '64 dub just because I wanted a new way to watch the film.
Yes, the Danish and Czech 1938 dubs are found in 35mm by collectors, and the Dutch 1938 dub have been found in a bootleg VHS. Old dubs are my favorite too
Love all of those old dubs. So much history in each of them. The supposed France-made French dub of '38 is still a mystery. If you ever make a video on 70s + versions, ill be happy to give you some extra sources and trivia about the Greek dubbing.
This was an amazing video! I like the editing so much! It's a great idea to make videos like this one and not only upload scenes or songs from Snow White. I enjoyed it very very much!
Thank you very much! You're always welcome :D I think it's amazing to be able to get to know the real voices behind the character, without being part of the film. In addition to some dubbings haven't been found yet, like Latin Spanish and Brazilian :(
What is the difference between Austrian & German version? I thought that the dub with Herta was the official German version which was made in Austria because of the war.
In my opinion, the Austrian version never existed, as well as the French version made in France before the start of the Second War. Since the German version of 1938, Hortense Raky has a very strong Austrian accent as well as other characters. The difference between the two is the dialects, many words and terms are different in both countries, as well as the Portuguese of Portugal and the Brazilian and British and American English :) The German version of Hortense Raky was made in Amsterdam in 1938.
Snow White Ok, thanks. Well, I want to make an One-Line Multilanguage for Evil Queen's Transformation. Which 1938 or old dubs do you have from this movie?
What a great idea for a video, and I love you editing, looks well on Snow's movie! I'm guessing that your favorite princess is Snow White (consedering the avatar picture and this video) ;)
I didn't even know that Austria dubbed Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in Austrian German back on 1938. Also, I can't imagine that Snow White's Dutch singing voice actress from 1938, Frieda van Hessen is the only one that is still alive. Also, how did you find the Brazilian Portuguese 1938 version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs even though the dubbing is lost? And it's a shame that the French 1938 version wasn't made in France, and both Dalva de Oliveira (Snow White's Brazilian Portuguese 1938 speaking voice actress) and Thelma Hubbard (Snow White's 1938 Latin American Spanish speaking voice actress) could both sing well. :(
Actually, I made a mistake!! There's no Austrian 1938 dub, since 'Snow White' was never shown in Germany until 1950 and in Austrian in 1948. When Austria was planning first shown 'Snow White' back in 1938, they thought that the dub was lost in the war, so an Austrian newspaper request Paula Wessely to dub the princess, but a 35mm copy from 1938 (never shown for the nazis) was found and then release in the theaters. Yes, Frieda still alive
The voice actress of Snow white and the evil Queen both died in the war (Austrian German) :( Its in standard German though, I think some voice actors were German and they made it in Austria because American movies weren't allowed at the time in Germany or something like that

Nicky Bognar Hi, a friend of mine watch a private exhibition of a 35mm copy and record 2 scenes “Whistle While You Work” and “Someday My Prince Will Come” 😊
Nicky Bognar Can you send it to me? Maybe in a .ac3 file, I have this dub, but the audio quality it’s very poor... And I didn’t find the DVD to download 😕
I think it's for differentiate the German (Germany) Dub and German (Austrian) Dub (But i read that this dub Doesn't existe so..) and The Brazilian it's to show that the dub is in Brazilian Portuguese due to the multiple diferences betwen the Portugal Portuguese, and also the creator of the video it's Brazilian so he knows that "Brazilian" isn't another Language than Portuguese.
