      So I couldn’t find the bumper on your website. Do you actually sell the bumper and replacement brackets? I managed to dent mine up when backing a trailer

    Needed to replace the damaged bumper step pad on my 2016 Silverado. Your vid pretty much spot on with a few exceptions. My truck has the trailer hitch which adds a bit of complexity. Yes, I raised the bed as you described and popped the wiring harness and trailer conn. But I found 5 bolts holding the bumper on. Had to watch your vide 4 times to figure it out. The last bolts are 13mm and sit behind the bumper and tucked up behind the trailer conn and rear tire port. They attach the bumper to the hitch. Also I used a floor jack and 2x2 to raise the bed rear to put a 2x4 block to support the bed. Worked well.

    Wow, a very strait forward video thanks this helps out alot. But I must ask, what kind of an idiot at GM designed this bumper bracket where the bed bolts have to be removed to pup up the bed?

    Is it possible to remove the bumper where it connects to the brackets so you don't have to lift the bed? Thanks

    For anyone that might need it. If your nuts that are welded to the truck break and the bolt that attaches to the truck bed keeps spinning where you have to stick the wood in. Use a 2x4 and a floor jack and put the wood right where the bracket that needs to be lifted and push up until you can slide the bracket out. Or do it this way If you dont want to take the rear fender liner out of the wheel well

      I know it's been a minute since you posted this Nathan but did leaving the fender liner in place tear or strain the liner? Mine is an '18 with the felt liner and I would rather not pop all those plastic retainer clips.

    • @wakkoss
      @wakkoss 4 роки тому +1

      There's a silver ring that holds it in place from the back. Leave the outer ring alone, use strong needlenose pliers or a pick to pry the teeth back until you can push the assembly through the front. Usually about halfway around. The replacement ring is about $8, but you could probably bend the tabs back and reuse it.

    It doesn't seem to answer any questions in the comment section ! I'm taking a leap with this one.
    Can a 2010 Silverado trailer plug-in plate changed ? Mine just collapsed last week. The lock-in hole is totally gone (left of the rear license plate) therefore, the trailer connector is just hanging loose. I don't need to change the whole bumper because it is in an excellent shape.

      @@wakkoss I need to replace just the corner pad only that your foot steps on. From a part replacement photo, I see there are two bolts that hold it in place. Is it necessary to remove the entire bumper?

  • @ktm250sx09

    Instead of the ratchet to lose the bolt, I used a 3/8 drive Snap-on battery impact without any placement issues. You can use it for every single bolt.

    A lot of rust on that truck's frame for not being that old.

    • @wakkoss
      @wakkoss 4 роки тому +1

      GMs are notorious for it. They use this garbage "wax" on the frame that doesn't stay well and allows the salt to destroy the undercarriage. Why GM still uses this abomination is beyond me. Also, the frames are made in Mexico and shipped here, so they're exposed to the elements for who-knows-how-long.

    can you remove the bumper from the brackets, without removing the brackets from the frame, and having to lift the entire bed up? What a-hole at Chevy designed this...?

    • @PoisonShot20
      @PoisonShot20 Рік тому

      I think not. Brackets may be part of the bumper, or bolts are not teachable. Like Legos, have you play Legos before? Try take or place a missing peace in the middle of the set. Or take it a part. Lol! But I agree with you, why the need of lifted the bed? No sense!
