I use the Nite Ize stretch holster for flashlights. it has a belt clip and rotates. I just attach it to my backpack strap and slip my gopro handle into it.
This was super helpful! I plan to get the GoPro Hero 8 for my 2 trips to MT & WY then hopefully rafting next year. I wasn’t sure how to use it hands free. Thanks for helping a old Baby Boomer understand 😊
I think I'll be using the backpack clip to start, before going with the mod you taught us. I like the quick on and off of a backpack, that the clip offers.
Yes, a backpack clip is a great option. My latest approach is to use that and carry a small tripod in my pocket, belt loop, or purse. Works pretty well!
Ingenious, functional. I might be able to adapt something similar to the Road Bike vlogging, thank you for the helpful tips and advice in all your Vlogs
@@Gemini_Connect nice one, I guess it's what works best for what your doing and how long you're intending to film for. Also, I was looking at your white water rafting and mounts, have you looked at Snapmounts in order to switch out mounts quickly and securely. A lanyard around neck under clothing, and Snap on.
I have the Peak Design Capture Clip V3 with the Dual Plate V2 (Arca Swiss and RC2 compatible), and the clip comes with longer screws for thicker backpack straps. The DIY mod is a great tip! I was thinking of just using a tripod mount with the dual plate, and switch between the capture clip on the backpack and a tripod with an RC2 mount. But that does add a step to connect the tripod.
Ooh, your idea could work too. I was looking at a dual plate option, but the DIY is a lot cheaper. Will see how it works in practice. I'm surprised there isn't a more obvious solution out there.
Love the work-around - so clever! I'll definitely need to try this once I guilt my family into buying me the Hero 9 for Christmas. I'm still at a Hero 5 + gimbal. Boo. Thanks for the great info! ;)
Thanks Nikki! You'll love the Hero 9 -- it's a big leap forward from the Hero 5. Either way, here's the updated setup that I end up using. I used it all summer and it worked extremely well - GoPro + a grip - amzn.to/35B0S5R
True! I've seen tons of videos and reviews using it with a regular camera, but not many other setups. Glad you enjoyed the video. I'll test the setup out on a camping trip this weekend and see how it works. Stay tuned!
It's kind of crazy there isn't a straight forward solution. There are many GoPro quick release solutions, but none of them include a grip or mini tripod! Here's a little preview of our follow-up video -- this is the solution we ended up going with and it works really really well: www.amazon.com/dp/B07S97S9FX?tag=geminiconne0c-20
I loved these ideas. I was looking for a gopro acessory to film my bike adventures that allows me to easily change the angle, release with one hand from the acessory... As gopro quick release is not so quick release and need both hands to remove from the base, it's not ideal to some sports.
Nice, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I meant to make a follow-up to this video, but got busy with the new Hero 9. But here's the mount I end up using the most that's not mentioned in this video -- amzn.to/35B0S5R
Any update on a solution? Been researching the whole day and still can't find a perfect setup. Found this that is perfect, but it's no longer available. Top attach to gopro, bottom to stick, and quick release to middle of of the extension
The DIY vlogging setup with the nails only work if the tripod "screws in". The Pgytech's tripod locks into place so didn't work. I'll have to see if there are other options. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you. I will buy gopro 11 mini will you please test gopro 11 with chest mount for walking and vloging? And give me the link for buy the mini. Thanks again.
I am currently researching the snap mount system -- it is looking pretty promising as a way to easily and quickly change mounts that can be used to have gopro go from a clip mount to a handle mount in seconds.
We just got them and are working on the video! Overall, they're great, but a couple of downsides: 1. It's difficult to use the Nedia Mod with them, 2. When clipping to your shirt, your shirt has to be pretty stiff otherwise it flops around a lot.
I’ll be using my GoPro out of the country in crowded areas and wondering if there might be any chest mounts that might prevent grab-n-run theft of my GoPro ??? Thx
Hi Suzi, hope you and Martin are keeping well. I reckon you should befriend someone who works with leather or nylon strapping and maybe 3D printing, give them your criteria and see what they can come up with. Maybe design the ideal rig yourself and explore materials options. You might come up with a whole new product idea. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work. 👍🖖😎🚙🏍😺📷
Thanks Pedro! I was really surprised that there wasn't a popular solution for this problem -- seems like a lot of people would have it. I do know of a camera strap company that might be open to collaboration. I'll reach out and see what can happen. Thanks for the idea! 😀🌞
I just finished editing a vlog in which i duct taped my selfie stick to an umbrella lol. The ideal solution would be a phone case that has a very strong magnet at the back which you can hold on the front of your clothes with another strong magnet at under your clothes. It looks like when you're using that clipm, the camera inclines downwards, thus filming towards the ground... which is not what we want. Something like the Insta360, if only it could film hours on end.
This is genius. I'm still researching ways on how to do vlogs on the bike.. I bike and train everyday . Having to deal with a camera gets annoying if I can't access it quickly or safely .
Have you tired small ‘snack’ bags which you attach to your bars? People use those for snacks and other food while riding, they can just eat sitting on the bike. You could also use it to hold a gopro with small (selfie) stick.
I just got a go pro 11 it was on sale but I didn’t realize how fast the battery dies. How do you record for more than an hour? I changed the setting i saw in ur other video but it only saves me about 30 mins more. I saw some rigs online that have battery packs but I was kinda wanna build my own and save some money
Hmmm...not really. You could try some generic chest mount and stick the gimbal in it. Or maybe the GoPro Seeker backpack -- it has a side pocket intended to hold the GoPro 3 Way grip, but you could replace it with the gimbal.

Hi is GoPro the only brand that offers handless camera?? I need a vlogging camera that are actually handless like over my neck or chest so I can capture my son while caring with the younger one without hassling so much with hands etc .. thanks!
Gopro bra is so funny. I seriously laughed out loud when u said that 🤣 well it may not look that bad if you wear a black shirt? I only wear black so it would probably blend into all my clothes :D
Hey @Gemini Connect, i'm about to get a gopro 9 and I'm planning to buy a backpack strap (the official one) but I really wonder if when you're just walking around, those don't shake the camera too much or even are able to film straight? It always seems to me that the angle end up a bit off, no? what do you think?
Is that the shoulder strap? We haven't tried that exact one, but have tried some mounts similar to it. There's definitely a risk of the canera shaking or not filming straight -- just make sure the strap is taut and you watch your posture. Might take some trial and error to get the filming method right.
I wish we could show photos on UA-cam because I think I go an idea dose that one UA-cam email that you work to send you guys photos ideas because I don’t even know to to explain this in words.
The problem with the chest mount is that you can't attach a handle or tripod to the camera if you want to quickly remove the camera and film with a tripod. This attempts to solve that problem.
Hey, during the pandemic you were supposed to be hiding in your house. lol. Would be silly to wear a backpack just so you didn't have to wear the strap. For just city vlogging I have no need for a backpack.
▪ What is the diagonal strap you're wearing on the thumbnail. That's the best looking one I've seen . I.hate the way the chest straps look... None of the mounts look okay to me,, but that one looks fine. 🟥
Update - here is the hands-free mount that I use the most with GoPro + a grip - amzn.to/35B0S5R
Is the footage any good mounted on a belt or on a strap? In the video, it looks like it swings around on the swivel.
@@UncoolPeak125 we use the Mount just to hold the GoPro, not actually film from this position. We stop and take the GoPro out of the Mount to film.
