Great video! I've never seen Starship Troopers, but I do have some fun trivia for you about the movie. The soldiers's armor and helmets were reused in 1999 in the ninth season of the Power Rangers franchise, Power Rangers Lost Galaxy for the security force aboard the space colony Terra Venture, which was the main setting of that particular season.
@@johnbottelsen9850 Very cool. I honestly didn't realize that, probably because of that paint change. Lol. I just knew about the Power Rangers use because they didn't alter them at all.
@@michaelconcidine1551 That, and the fact that they're generic enough that they can be used in just about any Science Fiction movie or TV show and not be out of place. Like you can't use Darth Vader's helmet or a Stormtrooper helmet just anywhere, because they're specific to Star Wars. But the Starship Troopers costumes can be used anywhere and while people who are familiar with Starship Troopers will recognize them, but those who aren't will think they're cool too.
Ok I just stumbled across the vid. Not gonna lie, bingeing on Helldivers stuff. But you popped up, so hurray for the algorithm for f***ing once. I got to 1:50 and knew I was hooked. Regardless of whether I agree with any of your opinions moving forward, pointing out the drastic differences that pop culture subtly glosses over endears you to me somewhat and I'm interested to hear your take.
In my opinion, you got it backward. The book is essentially an argument for Facism and the film Subverts, the book by looking like it's pro Facism when but it's actually a critique of Facism by making it look ridiculous on second glance.
The idea that the book is pro-fascism is rather simplistic. One must VOLUTEER for federal service. The Terran federation is a democracy (albeit with limited franchise) rather than a dictatorship. It is not governed by the military (RAH very specifically writes that you don't get to vote while you are actually doing federal service, only afterwards). Plus Federal service includes many activities other than military service (IIRC he lists the Mobile infantry as being only 10,000 strong) and there is a clear distinction between between civilians and military. OTOH the bugs are a centralised autocracy headed by dictators the extreme regimentation. The bugs are the Fascists rather than the Terrans.
The enemy cannot read a book if you disable his hand.

Loved Starship Troopers!! One of my favorites!!
The movie got me interested in the book and then all the other crazy awesome Heinlein books
Love them both. I read it way before the movie.

Also for the TV Series Firefly, parts were painted purple and they were the 'Purple Bellies'...the Alliance soilders.

Most reused movie prop/costume in history. I think it because they are so awesome!

@@tgif1345 agree!
Love the review! Agree that both book and movie are amazing (each in their own way).

Those are fair points!
@thetombottelsenshow Thanks. Nice review. Keep up the good work!
