    And never forget the most important tip of all when working with any E-clip - ALWAYS have a few spare ones on hand so you can still finish the job after it goes flying across the shop never to be seen again.

    Great!! Thanks for posting, it was exactly what I was looking for. Sometimes a simple straight forward video is a million times more helpful than a high production convoluted one. You saved me from a bus load of frustration my friend.

    OMG! MY STRUGGLE IS OVER!! Thanks man. I was dealing with a teeny tiny one and never thought of this particular needle nose method. Took like 3 seconds. Whew. This was day 2 of frustration.

    Have to install an E clip to finish an arcade joystick- was totally unaware of how to install/uninstall it. Couldn't find any good tutorials online, but yours is perfect. Thank you!

    Thank you 🙏 for such a simple easy technique, I’m putting back together the guts of a carriage from a knitting machine after a deep clean for the first time since it’s manufacture nearly 50 years ago. My circlip went back on at the first attempt. Now to put the rest of it back together lol!

    It's easy when you have full access 360 degrees. The real problem- maybe for many E clips-- is when the E clip is in a confined space (guitar bridge for example where getting a pliers into the space to apply force to the clip is extremely difficult.) It is amazing how they even assemble the bridge. I tried 3 times and sent 3 clips flying across the room..

    Looking at the e-clips on the back-side of my scooter's clutch assembly, I thought it would be best to use t a slender flat screw driver to 'lever' / 'pull' off the e-clips (as I will not re-use the existing ones), but I will try this method as it may (as you showed) allow me to take them off without damaging them.
    Good one!
    Thanks.

      I must be really dumb because that CO
      🎉ON couldn't have made less sense.... take an edge of pliers, where one edge is flat and then press against the clip, but don't because instead press part of the pliers against a different object???? That's how these were designed? Was the design a total practical joke?

    I typically use a small screwdriver, which can be bad for the screwdriver, and offers less control. I guess I'll give this a shot today.

    What stops the clip from rotating on the shaft?

  • @Cancun771
    @Cancun771 13 днів тому

    The trick to avoid the E-clip flying off into orbit is to do all this under a rag. Should it go flying, it will then hopefully be stopped by the rag.

    E-clips are the work of Satan. Using this technique on the teeny tiny one i'm dealing with, it just spins inside the groove. I enden up actually pulling it off, grabbing the top of it with similar needle nose pliers while holding the thing it was stuck on with a pipe wrench. "Luckily" mine was stuck on a pin where i was able to actually get a hold on the edge. In the past i've also managed to get a different one off by pushing it off with a flat head screwdriver.

  • @UndyingEuphoria
    @UndyingEuphoria 6 років тому

    Have you tried using the back edge of an exacto knife? I used to use pliers as well but found using a exacto easier for me. Most pro drivers use an exacto knife to remove e-clips as well.

    • @RazorRC
      @RazorRC  4 роки тому

      I don't like using them because I find the tips of the blade to break off easily and then it flies across the room into someone's eye and blinds them. 🤕

    Nice tips sir, I'm from India, sir I have Royele Legend low profile baitcasting reel in it I always struggle on cleaning line level for it this R-clip has to be reviewed but while fixing it give me heard time. More than hour or two hours to fix that "eclip" it has one small eclip and second one is bit bigger. So, kind make a video on UA-cam there is non any video to fix Eclip on baitcasting reel.

    • @taimaishu-nao1922
      @taimaishu-nao1922 2 роки тому

      Sir, this is an RC channel. If you want tips for your bait caster, you need to look that up somewhere else. Yes, this tip will work for different applications that require e-clips/cir-clips but if you need specific advice for that, kindly find a channel that specializes in that sort of thing.
      Again, this is an RC channel. Not a fishing channel.

    That's great! Only thing is that the clip I have to remove and replace is behind my car engine. And the face that you are working on is facing away from me and is 4 inches from the firewall. Bloody hell....

    • @staninjapan07
      @staninjapan07 4 роки тому

      If you do not need to re-use the e-clip on your engine part, a short-shaft flat-head screw driver will probably allow you to remove the clip with ease, provided that you are willing to replace it with a new one as using a driver to pry it off may damage or mis-shape it, but is highly unlikely to damage the engine part to which it is attached. Good luck. I am about to do the same on a bike clutch.

    • @pdog2448
      @pdog2448 4 роки тому

      @@staninjapan07 I got it off but it was harder to get back on. I used the tip of a flat head to try to push it on (down) it seemed like it was on so I took it on a test drive. Seemed ok at first but on the fwy, it didn't feel right. Get home and found that it fell off never to found and the 2 parts had disconnected. Ordered some new clips on-line whichwere made slightly different and went on easy... Thanks!
