The criteria is only for getting into the pool to be selected. It doesn't matter how many criteria, as long as you have one. The one with the biggest weight by far is podium at Nationals. Kaori is the only woman who is safe for sure. If Mone doesn't podium and the other top girls do, she won't bump Higuchi, and she would have to be close behind Hana or Rino to maybe bump them. But that also depends where Shimada finishes. Mone had a very good year, but not alot better than the others. She also doesn't have alot of big pressure experience. She was a surprise at a poorly skated Nationals last year and wasnt the main girl at World's. GPF was a warmup for Nationals. But she was consistent this year and JSF clearly is behind her and her coach has clout. She should get generous scoring, so she should probably just have to avoid major mistakes to be ok.
I love your humorous but insightful commentary 😊 Regarding the team for Worlds, actually it’s not how it works. JSF announces the criteria to make the Worlds team at the beginning of the season, and last week JSF released the names of skaters who fulfill the criteria. Winner at Nationals gets a ticket automatically, 2nd & 3rd place will be up against the fore said named skaters. FYI for men Yuma 1st, Shun 2nd in every criteria. Shun only has to skate at Nationals and he’s practically promised a spot. Yuma doesn’t even need to go to Nationals because there’s a clause that any skater that medaled in Worlds has a bye if the skater can’t participate Nationals due to injury or sickness. So it’s a bloodbath for one ticket, which by far is an equal tie between Sota and Kao. If both blotches, Kazuki, Koshiro medals, it would be a debate between four of them. Nobody else has a chance besides a win. Same for the women, Kaori & Mone has a spot, it’s a competition for the remaining one ticket. The 4CC team is a wider range of skaters, and there’s the Winter Asian Games less than a week prior so the team is likely not going (Yuma,Shun, Kaori, Hana) to 4CC.
No worries! Better to ask than not knowing 🙃 She's the Eteri from Japan. One of her skaters issued a complaint (?) about her abusive behaviour and most famously Hamada would divulge rumours that Marin Honda was lazy and pushed Rika Kihira to practice on an injury. Very psychologically and verbally abusive while putting a facade of a supporting coach
@@EdgesAndBladesI’m afraid that’s not true. Ms. Hamada does not abuse her students nor turn a blind eye nor play a role in doping her students like Eteri-allegedly. It was Nobunari Oda who was a rookie coach at the time, blamed & sued her for his mental struggles. Everything should have been discussed/ handled at the University & Rink, not in court. Oda even used the media to have upper hand which backfired tremendously because Ms. Hamada counter-sued for defamation and won. Marin was famous for skipping lessons & randomly changing choreography in her program that lead to losing levels etc. Never heard of pushing Rika. Hamada is a compassionate coach who cares for skaters other than her team, often seen chatting with them.
@@EdgesAndBladesMs. Hamada hasn’t said a thing about it in the media. Only Oda went out to the media and called himself victim and nobody else. Sadly Japanese culture is behind Western culture and anything that can bring down a woman in power, they will. And the Japanese moms are fierce in protecting their children. If they sense abuse in Hamada, they will take action. But young up-and -coming skaters relocate across the country to attend Hamada’s academy including coaches. People’s actions is the proof.
Hi! If you wanna watch it live you'll need a VPN otherwise some accounts on Instagram like "skatejapanews" and on twitter "skatingarchive" usually post some of them. It's really hard to watch the whole thing though :(
It feels incredibly unfair to choose between such amazing skaters. I wish we could see them all again at Worlds 🤧
I hope Kao does well!!!

@@mayamae55 I much rather listen to those who have come out as victims than the alleged perpetrator 🤷♀
