Just to clarify a couple of things:
    1. The average italian doesn't eat cornetto and nutella for breakfast every single day, everyone knows it's not a healthy option.
    2. The problem with the job market is often blown out of proportions because many italian love to complain about everything (it's a cultural thing). Italy is the second most industrialized country in europe and the 3rd biggest economy in the EU, you can definitely find good companies and well-paid jobs, it mostly depends of the field you're interested in and the area/city you live in.

If one does not understand that:
    - breaking spaghetti is equivalent to blending an Hamburger,
    - the smell of fried food early in the morning is nauseating and puts you in a bad mood for half the rest of the day,
    - cappuccino at lunch/dinner is indigestible and does not go well with salty food,
    - it's impossible to fully appreciate a good dish of pasta and a good dish of meat if you eat them at the same time, just as you can't fully appreciate a baseball and a football match if you watch them at the same time on 2 TVs,
    - cheese on fish is so disgusting that not even my cat will eat it,
    - pineapple-pizza "it's a mistake, it's an italian tragedy!!" (Gordon Ramsey)...
if someone does not understand these simple basic rules, he is not welcome to Italy because it means he's a Barbarian! 😁

They are talking about little shops in towns and villages. But in Italy there are also malls and supermarkets. They are open all day long, every day in the week and sell everything. I don’t know why tourists don’t go there.

Even within Italy there are cultural differences. Northern Italy like Milan is way different than the south, like in Calabria.

actually some supermarkets allow fruit and vegetables to be weighed at the checkout... BUT... if you have many varieties of the same product it becomes impractical... (For example in the supermarket where my wife works they have over ten different types of tomatoes)

This way of living a life, it's also a smart move. Only if you've time, if you can relax, your creativity goes up. This is why, most of inventions, manufacts, dresses, art masterpieces, medical advancement etc. and doctors are in or from Italy. And most of us actually are hardworking, even if we usually don't work till 10 p.m. We marry, even if not at 16, but usually have 1 husband/wife, instead of 3-4-5- in our lives. We have 1-2 children instead of 4-5, but we take care of them, so we don't have mass shootings and we don't star our life in full debts, because we can stay , and also study, with our parents till we're ready to go. Our houses are all made with bricks, not with only thin wood. We cook good food, even when we are workers. Many of us have little gardens /vegetables gardens so we can have our flowers or our spices. We don't work less, we work in the best way we can. Unfortuntely, times are changing.

The American Dream: I think there is a misunderstanding, because in Italy as in the United States it is not enough to work hard to achieve success, you also need knowledge, connections and above all luck. Having said that, today it is certainly easier to be successful in the United States than in Italy.

i think the main difference between la dolce vita and the american dream, is state welfare. We have, among the other things, a socialist and even communist background in our past, wich has its horrors and shadows, but also its lights. A strong welfare is one of the lights. It allows us to enjoy life even with lower wages and limited buying power. It's a matter of culture, but this culture is empowered by politics and laws that goes in this direction (even if in there last years we are constantly eroding this idea of strong welfare and i'm not happy about it... and we're not raising wages!). Personally i think there is not a good time to start enjoying life, the correct time is now. It takes some courage to live life as you really wish, you must probably refuse to follow extreme richness and fame, but is it really worth following such goals?
Do you really need all this to be happy in life?
Will you enjoy all that money after a life spent burning yourself for your work?
Maybe not. Maybe, while most americans wait the right moment to start enjoying life, most italians do it, with less resources, but more good time.
We must also consider another thing: la dolce vita is also an idea of the past, when italy was in a full economic boom and having enough money to sustain a family and buy a house wasn't hard at all.
Now the idea of dolce vita is a quite harder to embrace for people of my generation or younger (i'm 36)

That was an interesting video, especially about american culture of friendliness which is generally seen by europeans (like me, being German) as superficial. Well, after that talk I got a glimpse of understanding the "friendliness" approach.

It is very popular among Italian men to flirt with American women with the goal of getting married and live in the US. They moved to the US and they realise it is all upon the woman to support both of them for quite a long period until the partner gets the green card. Sometimes they decide to move back to Italy and then it is upon the man to support until the woman can get a job. In concrete I would like to here what they are doing in Italy for a living.

The European Dream is not working. The crisis is huge in Europe. Some Americans idealized our situation here in Europe. After covid countries and people are going poorer, many people living on the street, social tension is growing, when prices of housing and cost of living is going up. No jobs, no careers, welfare estate is diminishing. The Ukraine -Russina was has impacted in the highest inflation in 30 years. On top of the economy, the immigrant situation is erasing tensions, And the freedom is at stake by the outrageous growing of far right government. Everything is very expensive now.
