Entry level custom market is so much more expanded than before and i love it. this is such a nice board for the cost

Just finished my build with a silicone pour, 3 layers of tape, and force break. It’s a THOCKY boy.

I had this build come in the mail today so I built it up with the fr4 plate, taped the pcb, and used the foam that came in the keycap box to fill in the grooves in the case and also added a layer under the stock case foam. I have the same colour case just with asa black pink and jelly blacks, it sounds amazing!

@@mackiesushi7170 surprisingly decent for stock stabs on a cheap board, but I would definitely recommend replacing them or atleast re-lubing them
Jelly blacks are amazing. I have some on my tape modded board.
Just built this two weeks ago. This is the best keyboard I have so far. I went with the metal plate to begin with and it's sound great. I did have issues with the metal plate and screw-in stabs. I went with the included stabs for now. I plan to try the FR4 plate and screw in stabs. For me, I want the north-facing RGB, I'm in the minority - I like shine-through caps. EDIT: I have no issues with Alpacas and Cherry keycaps.

I have one too, do note that the FR4 board will and fall off easily, so try to use 5-pins instead of 3 pins.

When rebuilding with the FR4 plate, what kind of case foam did you use instead of the standard foam?

The mod007 does benefit from the same force break mod as the q1, it will remove the ping and vibrations

Agreed, but the GMMK Pro has better features like south facing LEDs and GMK/VIA. But I ended up going with the Q1

@@Dazdigo gmmk pro is overpriced and has known issues with its stabs south facing is good but you could just buy tecsee, holy panda, or any switch with a protruding stem to get rid of interference, it isn’t worth 30 bucks more
could you cover the MK 870? it is imo the best budget TKL kit, plastic but sturdy case and south facing LEDs

This build was amazing. Even first iteration was pretty solid.
I genuinely want this keyboard, with these keycaps.
Only thing I'd do differently is put on some long stem switch in there for the extra THOCK.

from what I’ve seen the keychron q1 knob would be more worth it here. I’m pretty sure keychron has made some updates to deal with the case ping.

Was keen to pick one of these up, have been sold out for the last month or so though (at least when I've checked). Looks to be the best bang for buck 75% board around atm with quality materials.

These Akko mod boards are majorly overlooked in this hobby. The only major gripe are the north facing switches.
Eh even with Cherry MX switches people have noted that interference is quite rare w/ north facing LEDs
They're actually moving to south facing now! I've heard the mod 007s is coming out soon and it's south facing.
Did you use the PORON case foam?

No hate on plate mounts stabs tbh, it all depends on how well you tune 'em. Otherwise, good review, a shame that it's north facing LEDs, since my switches definitely have interference.
How about inputs lag on this keyboard? It’s good enough for competitive gaming?

Sounds so much better with that FR4 plate for me. Could you do a comparison with the GMMK Pros? Have been considering getting a 75% layout. Been rocking kbd67 lite r2 for now and I miss the fn rows!
i wont be getting a gmmk pro ever i think, after seeing most reviews, it seems to not perform up to standard especially the gasket mount providing a stiff experience, i would recommend you get a akko mod 007 instead
@@LewisToh ah I see, thats interesting because most people would just recommend the gmmk pros or the keychron q2 if someone mentions about a 75%. Will definitely favour the akko more now. Hope what I build could sound like yours. The thock is very satisfying
i think this depends on preference now, if youre talking about keychron, the q1 does have a even more flexible typing experience but you do have to more mods just to get rid of case ping, the q2 is good stock so u basically dont have to do any mods but the mod 007 is a balance i believe, i think the main selling point is the fr4 plate that you can change out for! slowly think about it !

Tbh, those AKKO ASA keycaps bring the thok themselves in comparison to cherry profile

I am looking forma custom keyboard of this type I would like to used for gaming and study/coding. My actual options are: this one, keycrom and the glorius. Any recomendation?

Will you consider this colour to be more of a grey or silver? I have a Drop Alt in their so-called Space Grey and it's really silver. Looking for a gunmetal kinda grey finish. Hope to hear your opinion. Nice thocks!
