- Join me for an antique shop that has me wanting to go back for more. I am like a kid in a candy store walking into this shop. The only thing I like better than sweets are these treasures. I learned uses for two items that had me puzzled. Meet the owner, Hollis, to learn about one of these unique items. It's rare to find so many top brands in one spot. There are lots of unique items that impress. No surprise that I found a treasure trove of classic and affordable Waterford Crystal. There is so much more I wanted to share with you. Wait until you see the deals. If you are in the Houston area, this hot spot should be #1 on your list. Maybe I will see you there!
Couple of things to mention:
Herend is porcelain from Hungary (I had crystal on the brain).
Margaret Mitchell, author of Gone with the Wind, was inspired by the life of Mittie Bulloch. Ms. Mitchell was a reporter for the Atlanta Journal and interviewed Catherine Evelyn “Eva” King Baker, Mittie’s childhood friend and last living bridesmaid. She was inspired by the life and personality recounted. Mittie is the mother of our beloved President Theodore Roosevelt. I have spent time in the Bulloch home in Roswell, Georgia. Ms. Mitchell based the character Scarlett O'Hara on Mittie.

I like Hollis's philosophy of rescue for finding new homes for these truly lovely items!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR SHOPPING TRIPS! wHAT A WONDERFUL STORE I was drooling with the china and crystal items so exquisite and the way you teach us - so informative thank you!!!
The Hummel clock tower is so cute. It reminds me of when I went to Rothenburg.
Hollis is so knowledgeable! I love learning from you and the shop owners you feature. Your channel is a fun and elegant educational experience 🥂
Thanks so much! I learned a lot from
Hollis. She had me stumped with a porcelain piece with a hole on bottom. Could not figure out the use. It’s a condensed milk holder from the Victorian era.
20:59 love the giver: I think it’s a secret admirer trinket box. What do you all think?
That porcelain Dog looked so lifelike. Great find!
Thank you Mary Beth! I love that you share these shopping experiences with us. I learn so much from you.
Beverly, glad you came along for Antiques & More. Learned a lot from Hollis, the shop owner. Had you ever heard of tear catchers? 😭
@@LadyMaryBeth Now that was something that I had never seen or heard of.
I love the beauty and sentiment behind Victorian tear catchers! They are so special!!!
How did we not know this before now? Glad Hollis shared these with us.
One of those things you don’t need but desperately want and your acquaintances won’t understand but your friends will.
@@wightwick13 So true Juliet!! We belong to the same tribe LOL! You should come visit my channel sometime!!!
What an amazing place - that was sheer enjoyment from start to finish. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I'm suppose to be working....but I'm listening to (and watching) Lady Mary Beth. 🤫🤫 Another store I can visit near my home. Thank you for taking us along
It's motivation Monday to keep working so that you can shop this weekend. These treasures would look great in your new home!
So happy to open my tablet and find you waiting for me to join your antique shopping. Amazing shop filled with beautiful treasures.😊
Love shopping with you Lady Mary Beth! Exquisite finds!
I love Coalport and toast caddies. Especially Coalport toast caddies.
Thanks again for a wonderful shopping trip! I've been shopping antiques for decades and have never seen nor heard of tear catchers. How interesting!
New to me as well. This shop is full
of delightful surprises.
Oh WOW LMB, what a gorgeous store, and the first edition of Margaret Mitchell’s book, my husband and I visited her home in Georgia when we were on our Deep South tour, we were on route to “Graceland” (my hubby is an Elvis fan)so interesting to see her typewriter that she used to write Gone with the Wind, my Mums favourite film ever. Thank you for taking me on another wonderful armchair shopping trip. Fond wishes as always from UK.
I use the Waterford Crystal jars for jelly beans and Skittles
Best idea ever!
@@LadyMaryBeth
They look great on a console table or on a desk in the study.
@@LadyMaryBeth
Also I have a Waterford Crystal plate in the style of the Christmas plates, but in the centre it has, the island of Ireland, it's beautiful detailed and cut really well, I've not seen another like or now anything about it.
I absolutely adored this shopping trip!!! I so appreciate the education you give us on each piece. Thank you for taking the time 💐
I do not remember hearing about a Tear Catcher💜Thank you for sharing all those beautiful items💜
My Favorite Antique Store indeed! The shop owner is a darling lady! We’re learning new things about you MB with every video!!! You play violin and so also do your daughters! My violinist son spent many years studying violin at conservatories.Interesting how you and your viewers have so much in common.I would love to see a photo of your Father’s Cranberry glass hanging kerosene lamp most likely now electrified. My grandmother’s lamp also a ceiling cranberry glass lamp. I have not seen another like it and would so appreciate you sharing a picture. I have seen others but not at all like my grandmothers and I just new there were others out there. Thanks for one of my favorite videos as the antiques were so abundant and exquisite, enjoyed every second of this video!❤️
Love it when you show all the variety!
I know you love cake stands! I do too, especially with cake on them! 🎂
Absolutely. Cake for everyone! 🎂
the tear catchers are amazing I have never seen one before. thank you for showing us and sharing all your knowledge about antiques.
I am learning with you. Hollis, the shop owner, showed me some unusual items.
This video was delightful - so many treasures, even some I didn't know existed such as tear catchers. I saw many items from my childhood home bringing back loving memories. This shop had so many items I would be interested in bringing home. Thank you for sharing your shopping experiences as I've learned so much from watching your channel. You are a wealth of information and a delight. I particularly like when you pronounce the German names and also the detailed history of Waterford. Thank you!
Your visit reminded me of this store! Thanks for the memory
It's time for a visit.
What a great post. Enjoyed this visit at this antique store. Thank you.
⚘~Great show Mary Beth 👏 & beautiful shop! Love your teachings for sure!! ⭐
Your James Avery “four seasons” earrings are envy inducing. You are so fortunate to have come across them a second time. Such a fab purchase 💖💚
Lucky indeed. Did not expect to find these here.
Those unexpected finds are the BEST treasures !
I did watch the part of the book. Read that movie from one of my teacher at college. Love seeing old things
Oh my. Ohhhh my! This I ‘full of’ beautiful store. And yup, I do enjoy listening to you of things you knew Thanks LMB. Great to hear/see you
Did you see the first edition book at the end? Surprised no one has commented on it yet. Thanks for coming along for this awesome shop. It's tucked away and definitely a hidden gem in Houston.
I adore cake stands. Oh! how I wish I was there. I would adore the Fostoria round cake stand.
Your shopping trips are treasures. I loved the stained glass window behind you when you started out exploring this delightful shop. I really liked the clover leaf trinket box. What a unique story about the tear catchers! It brought to mind a Bible verse referring to bottling your tears that a minister referred to at my sister in law's memorial service.
Interesting biblical reference to the tear catcher. You and I both like the same things.
Oh now I see Finnigan!! What a charmer!!!
He is precious! 🐶💙
What a great video! I didn’t even speed it up because it was so interesting. 😄 I learn so much interesting detail from your videos. You and Rajiv Surendra are currently my favorites on UA-cam. 💖💖💖 (The tear catchers!)
I enjoyed so much seeing the items you presented. Learned so much from you 🥰🥰
What an amazing store. Thank you so much for sharing this video.
Thank you for sharing this amazing store. I especially enjoy all the Jade/Jadeite pieces because recently it has become my favorite gemstone, as opposed to Mandarin Garnet or Lightning Ridge Opal. Good video.
Lots more jade that I didn't feature. I bet the store would ship to you. Now, you have me intrigued by Mandarin Garnets and Lightning Ridge Opals.
Wow what a fantastic store. So interesting. Somewhere I could browse for hours. You’ve piqued my interest in Limoges boxes now. They are so nice. And as you say with so much attention to detail. I’ve always loved Hummel figurines. I only have one. The little school girl with satchel. A gift from a friend. But I was born in Germany and lived there until 5 years of age and am drawn to European ceramics. Thank you for this your. So beautiful.
Another great and informative video! Thank you
Great video!!👍👍👍🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷
Thanks so much! This shop exceeded all my expectations. Glad a friend recommended it.
Hello friend ! Oh that Bavarian section with the floral coffee pot ! Exquisite....Knew it ! Dresden flowers that would of come home OMG ! Such a pleasure to hear from you. The Dresden Flowers pattern would be a great addition to your beautiful table settings. Still thinking about the Hummel Clock. Maybe we need it. Ha! Christoph is still on the mend and we hope to upload the next video soon. Take care and keep sharing your wonderful recipes and beautiful collections.
@@LadyMaryBeth Blessings to all...Gods speed with no pain !!! 😎❤🍍
I’ve decided that I love everything so much, it would be easier to move my furniture in and just live out of that beauty. Wonderful shop! Mary Beth, you are so fortunate to find such interesting shops and appreciate you showing us all the wonderful shops you find.🌸
I totally agree! Just give me a corner in the shop.
Hello Lady Mary Beth, I loved your video so much. I love antique stores/malls. You show so many beautiful items. I am a collector of many items and always find something for my collections. You are such a beautiful woman inside and out. Thank you for being such a great hostess. Trudy in PA

Thought of you yesterday with the Platinum Jubilee celebration. Had a message from BritBox to watch the live stream, but was busy with this segment. My friend, Marc, is in London on business and is bringing me a teacup and pill box. On another recent trip, he got me Buckingham Palace tea towels and gold spoons. Absolutely thrilled with the commemorative items. It's a great time to be a Brit! My family is of English ancestry, mostly lesser nobility and a Lord Mayor of London.
I was there today - met Hollis - such a sweet lady and I bought two pieces of crystal. And then drove home to Lafayette Louisiana
Wonderful that you met Hollis. She is lovely! Enjoy your beautiful crystal. 🥰
The only thing I can say about this adventure is it was absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing. I hope you revisit this place. Stay safe and have a blessed day my friend.
Glad you enjoyed it! Can't wait to go back and see what I missed. I learned so much from Hollis, the shop owner.
That first compote would be perfect as part of a dessert display. I have never seen a divided pink willow dinner plate before! X
It’s almost like a fondue plate. 🤔 That compote would surely be the belle of the ball.
The ribbon loop-edged cake stand is very familiar to me. I grew up with it! It had been my grandmother's. My mother always threaded ribbon through the loops for special birthdays (ending in "0" or "5"). If you turn it over, you can use the hollow of the stand as a vase and put cakes/cookies/sandwiches around it. Always festive.
Your mother made celebrations special. 💖 Great idea to turn it over for another use.
Home sick living vicariously through you
I wish their website was up and running. I caught a glimpse of a ring in their estate jewelry case that caught my eye. I really loved Ms. Hollis' colorful dress. Right up my alley for summer.
Feel free to contact the store. They can send you photos and prices. Yes, Hollis was lovely in her dress.
The dress reminded my of the stained glass in the window.
Hi Mary Beth, it looks like you discovered Aladdin's Cave of Wonders! So many beautiful things!!
Well said! 🙌🏻
What a delightful place !
Love the Fostoria cake stand.
Hi Mary Beth, another great antique shop. The tear catchers were very interesting, I had never heard of them either.
What a great shop. I just realized that I don’t own a compote bowl! There so pretty: I want one. Finnegan is just so cute, I’d visit the shop just to see him! 😉👍💕
He and the shop are definitely worth a visit. Will stop by again soon. Thanks for watching. 😘
WOW! Awesome video, I loved this store! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and the new information from Hollis. Enjoyed every minute! 😊
Oh my!! I so wish I could be your shopping partner!!
We have no places this grand here in central Indiana! What fun it would be to see and perhaps buy a few of these beautiful treasures!
🥰
Maybe one day if I make it to Indiana. Would be fun!
My favorite of all your shopping trips! I collect Limoges boxes and Hummels as well so very near and dear to my heart. Loved this Mary Beth!
👍! Loved it, thanks for sharing!

Oh, love those jam pots. X
The price was right. Lemon curd would be great in these. 🍋🍋🍋

Beautiful Shop! Thanks for the tour and the knowledge!
Thanks for watching! I learned a lot from Hollis, the shop owner.
WOW, just WOW! It's a good thing I live so far way. I would definitely have maxed both my charge cards at that place! Jeffrey Kevin (Decorating Happily Ever After) and I would have fought over those lovely mantle lusters! (I discovered them because of him and his beautiful and extensive collection!) That cranberry epergne! And the Lladro........those Limoges and Halcyon Days trinket boxes sell for very high prices online; could end up paying for everything else I would have purchased in there! I'm truly grateful I don't live anywhere near that shop!
This is my favorite shop
I really wish you would have gotten those cobalt lustres!!! I think you should go back they need to live with you!!!
What a fun video! I always love learning about the makers of pieces and the various ways a piece can be used or displayed.
I am always learning, too. 😉
love trinket boxes, have a small collection, even a couple with trinkets inside
They are such fun to collect. I find trinket boxes at charity resales, often with an entire collection.
Thank you so much, what a well curate collection and could Hollis be any more elegant ?? Love seeing all the beauty, including Finnegan.
I totally agree! Hollis is an elegant lady with a wealth of information. Her sidekick is so precious!
Thank you for taking us on this beautiful tour. I just love all your purchases, especially the Limoges boxes and of course the Waterford! I’ve used one of my honey pots for a small floral arrangement on my nightstand.
Brilliant idea! 💐
This is right next to the Japanese supermarket, right? I’ve been there once I think. Lovely staff.
Yes, there was a Japanese restaurant in the same center. I will definitely go again soon. Such a great store and staff, as you mentioned.
Thank you for a wonderful video. Adelaide Australia
Thanks for coming along for this antique shop visit. Sending good wishes to you in Adelaide from Texas! 😘
He’ll Mary Beth, I have the creamer and sugar you showed at 4:06. I found them and several other pieces at my local Goodwill store! What a find! I love the cornucopia. I am actively searching for it now. Easy to purchase in stores but I love the thrill of the hunt! Love your show. Also I lived in Ludwigsburg Germany in 1983 when the mark was at its highest. My girlfriends and I would load up in her van and drive all over in Germany and to the Chex border to Dresden for our “Treasures”. Two hours to the south and we were in France!
I am in love with the biscuit barrel and jam jars; on the hunt tomorrow!
Have heard tales of the good dollar to marks days. I studied in Heidelberg in 1989. It was DM 1,29 to the dollar during my college days. Lowest exchange rate ever. 😞
Until the next one you find, think this is my favourite store. Could spend days here and still have to be dragged out!!
Right there with you!
I always love your likings
I love the green limoges box with little perfume bottles!!! I just must make a trip to Houston some day!!!
You would LOVE this shop!
There is much more in this store than I had time to share.
I ENJOYED THE VIDEO,,
Although I love antiques, china, yardsales, etc., I was never much of a fan of crystal/glass objects - until I found your channel - you are so knowledgeable. Can you recommend any books on the different types of glass and crystal and their manufacturers and, how to identify them. (I can't tell the difference between Waterford and 'ordinary' glass). Or, perhaps you'll write the book!! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. They are a pleasure and an education to watch.
Thanks so very much! I have found books at goodwillbooks.com on glassware and Depression glass. Planning a segment on identifying crystal. Need to do this soon, but headed back to Germany next week.
@@LadyMaryBeth Thanks for the info. Have a safe trip.
Love this vidio...good job......very informative
I need to go back to this shop. So many treasures!
Dear Lady Mary Beth, as always I love your vlogs. Does this Antique/Thrift Store with very reasonable prices ship to the Northeast and do they have an online store? If so what is their website address and store name? P.S. I am glad you treated yourself to a beautiful pair of earrings by one of your favorite jewelry designers. Thanks and God Bless.
Another fun video to watch as you explore all of these treasures! Like I said, I really enjoy going on these excursions with you, but there's no way I could get into this because I'm a crafter, and I've already accumulated sooo much stuff! I have a small wreath business and now I'm making fabric ornaments to sell, and also dotillism on rocks. I have too much ribbon, paint, tools, fabric, etc. I just love these antiques, though. Thank you so much for teaching and sharing your knowledge with us. :)
I have taste exceeding my income, but found some of the prices you cited surprisingly reasonable!
I hear you on that. Champagne wishes and caviar dreams. 🥂
Many thanks!
I would be too scared to touch any of that stuff. I might accidentally drop it and break it.
That little crab box was a stone crab.
Good observation. We have blue crabs on the Texas Gulf Coast.
they are not tear catchers that is a misnomer, it is actually a victorian perfume botttle. ironically there was a book that featured a woman that used a "tear catcher" and people in antique stores used the antique perfume bottles as a "tear catcher", but it is just a perfume bottle. Tears wouldn't go into the bottle very easily.
Everything is just gorgeous. What is the crystal pattern with the star in the middle of a spray called? I found a finger bowl but don’t know the pattern. It’s not Waterford because there is no Waterford mark. It look like the first piece of crystal in this video.
I looked back in the video to see the vase. Did not pick it up, so not sure. The notched rim could be mean German or Eastern European.
11:45 Hello from Albuquerque NM!!

Do you ever come across a sterling silver tatting shuttle?
Have not seen one, but will be mindful of this.
After Albert died, Victoria wore mourning the rest of her life. There were a number of stages of mourning in Victorian times, and if another loved one passed while you were in mourning for someone else, it restarted the clock!
Hi LadyMaryBeth, could I have your advice? I have a Wood and Sons Irish Rose pattern tea set. The backstamp says that it's acid and detergent proof. I am not sure whether to use the set as I'm worried about lead leaching out. I've tried googling but can't find the answers I'm looking for so I'm wondering if you have any advice. There is crazing on all of the plates and cups too. It's a beautiful set and I'd love to use it but am also afraid.
On another note, your videos introduced me to limoges and I'm looking forward to stumbling upon a trinket box soon.
I would suggest not using for food since there is crazing. Don't despair as there are other uses for these pieces. You could create a wall display with plates and platters, wreath with bread plates and saucers, cups for office supplies or plants, etc. A large bowl or soup tureen could be a lovely floral table centerpiece. A Limoges box will find its way to your home soon. Keep looking at thrift stores and antique shops.
@@LadyMaryBeth Thank you so much for your suggestions. I think I will use some for plants and maybe pass on some to a friend for her photography.
I love your channel .from south africa. What Mark's do ì look for to identify Waterford crystal
Great to hear from you in South Africa! 🇿🇦 Waterford pieces have an acid etched stamp logo. Will send you the segment on Waterford Crystal. 💚

Wowww,,, so beautiful you are😊
Thank you! 😊
Please read an article by Sonya Vatomsky on “tear catchers” also there has been scientific test done on some of these bottles that prove no tears were ever in them! But traces of inexpensive perfume have been found. And how would you “catch “ your tears in these bottles?
What is an epergne used for?
This Victorian epergne is used as a floral centerpiece. Others have bowls for serving sweets and condiments.
Thank you I have one. I never knew what it was for. I believe it was mom and dads wedding gift.
@@farmers-daughter2000 Fill it with flowers and enjoy!
I will thanks!
There is no such thing as a victorian tear bottle or catcher!! Just a story made up to get a much bigger price for a common perfume vial Look it up, please.
The porcelain toast rack is special. 🤍🤍🤍
It’s Coalport, a company later acquired by Wedgwood.
