Good to see and hear you again! I always model the behavior myself first, then have the students tell me what they noticed. I never model the wrong way! Then I ask for a volunteer who thinks that they can show the class. I again have the students tell me what they noticed about the way their friend did it. Then we all try the behavior together. Seems time consuming and overkill, but I reap the reward later in the year when everyone is following the expectations!

Excellent presentation! I love that you stressed the importance of coming to the table with the procedures already in place!

Thank you so much! I was so excited to see your video go up today. This was a topic I requested on your Instagram and I didn't think you would have time to get it up before I started school. But you did and I am SOOOOO incredibly grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    Hi Elizabeth,
I just want to say that you are an amazing teacher and I have watched all of your videos with enjoyment! I would like to kindly ask you if you can show a video on how you would teach independent writing to kindergarten?

    +The Kinderhearted Classroom - Elizabeth
    Mrs. Elizabeth ,
A little tip based on back when I was an autistic student in school ,
Empty heads equals teachable students . It's like loading full suitcases before you travel to somewhere .
When you open them up and stuff more into them and try to close the thing it pops open or doesn't close and things fly out of them anyway to make them easier to carry or they become harder to carry . Try to give them time to empty themselves first to make space in their heads for them to accept in what you have to teach them if you can . They might need to get the summer separation out of them .
Plus , good call on wording things in a way that makes things sound acceptable to them . That goes a long way with students .
With that said , I hope that you have enjoyed being Elizabeth for the summer and that Mrs. Coller has an awesome school year .
    - Dwight

I’m using the doorbell this year, but another room is using one also and I’m getting her chimes as well as mine. Have you had this issue before? Is there an easy fix?

It's a bit of a different story for me as I teach 3 & 4 year olds in China. EVERYTHING needs to be modeled a million times and not explained.. an interesting challenge to get them to understand when they can't understand anything you say. haha

Helpful tips for all classrooms, but the bell seems over used. It makes it easy for you but think about what your training children to respond to, good way to create robots. Over 20 times a day! I would not want that for my child, learner centered v teacher centered. Tech is addictive and we need to teach how to communicate with our voices too. Many teachers over use what is fast and easy and so are too many if not most parents cause they are tech addicted. Once in awhile door bell is plenty enough and good suggestion for once in awhile use.
