CZsWorld i actually disagree, I think most PG-13 horror movies suck simply because they make it that rating to appeal to kids, rather than making a good movie, they just make it a jump scare fest so that kids find it “scary”

Funnily enough, there are a lot of R-rated horror films that don't scare me at all, but The Woman in Black scared the shit out of me to the point that I remember watching it at home and quite literally being afraid of my own shadow afterward. I also remember The Excorcism of Emily Rose scaring me for personal reasons since I was agnostic when I first watched it. Never underestimate a PG-13.

I would love to know what some great "beautiful" horror movies are. Like movies that are visually very lovely but are still horrifying.

    • @MojiBeau
      @MojiBeau 5 років тому +2

      Antichrist by Lars Van Trier
      The Shining by Stanley Kubrick
Suspiria (2018 version and 1977 version are both beautiful but I actually prefer the 2018 one as it has more substance imo)
Mullholland Drive by David Lynch (though most people probably don’t consider that horror)
Pan’s Labyrinth by Guillermo del Toro
Bram Stoker’s Dracula by Francis Ford Coppola (not everyone likes it but I do)
      Eraserhead by David Lynch
Jacob’s Ladder by Adrian Lyne (huge inspiration for the Silent Hill games)
American Psycho by Mary Harron (some would consider more a thriller but I knew people straight up scared by this film)
The Cell by Tarsem Singh (a little ostentatious but some pretty beautiful moments)
Hope that helps and there are some on there you haven’t seen

@@Schylove12 people keep saying that, but the purpose of a horror movie is to horrify and I, for one, was thoroughly horrified.

@@toddweis4530 I 100% agree! I'm just not a horror buff so i wasn't sure if people who really loved and studied the genre considered it horror or not.

No PG13 list without "The Grudge". That's my personal fave. Usually I am all in for over the top blood and gore all day long, but there is something about "The Grudge", that constantly makes me rewatch this film.

Insidious is a super well made example of great PG-13 horror. I saw it in theaters when it came out 9 years ago. I was 14 , and it scared me way more than most R rated horror movies did at the time. That scene where Lin Shaye is telling Tucker what she sees on the ceiling so he can draw it scares the shit out of me to this day. 1408 is an amazing King adaptation as well as being an underrated horror movie! I need to check out the fourth kind now haha. Great video!

Seeing the first Insidious in a packed NYC theater was one of the most fun movie-going experiences I've ever had. People screaming, popcorn flying, and people just generally enjoying themselves. Also, one of the most famous and thrilling movies of all time, Jaws, is rated PG...so you can never tell by a rating whether a movie will scare you or not.
