CZsWorld i actually disagree, I think most PG-13 horror movies suck simply because they make it that rating to appeal to kids, rather than making a good movie, they just make it a jump scare fest so that kids find it “scary”
Yeah that is very true. For whatever reason western sensibilities find nudity and sex more off putting than death and dismemberment... been like that for as long as I'v been watching movies. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Right?! It's like, movie, I came here for some gore- why you flashing a titty my way?! Oh, you've got no gore, your R rating is JUST for that .2 seconds of pointless nudity? Great, now everyone is disappointed.
Now that is QUITE the feat! I didn't think there was anyone in this world who didn't know the twist of that movie, even if they've never seen it before.
Funnily enough, there are a lot of R-rated horror films that don't scare me at all, but The Woman in Black scared the shit out of me to the point that I remember watching it at home and quite literally being afraid of my own shadow afterward. I also remember The Excorcism of Emily Rose scaring me for personal reasons since I was agnostic when I first watched it. Never underestimate a PG-13.

I definitely feel its ending was a more effective use of the same basic twist a more famous film used around the same time; it's much less of a gotcha moment, and exists to explain pretty much the whole movie.
10 Cloverfield Lane is easily one of the most unsettling films I’ve ever seen. I could do without the last ten minutes or so but every second of that film up to the ending is so unsettling. I’ve seen it so many times at this point and I never get desensitized to it.
Thanks for this list!! My daughter (who is almost 13) is really in to spooky movies. I took her to the premiere of Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark and she really enjoyed it. Probably since she has read the books. We will now have a whole list of Horror movies for us to watch together. She has seen The Ring tho.

Insidious is my favorite PG-13 horror movie!! I kinda remember the Fourth kind. That scene where they play the REAL recording of the abduction. It was emotional & traumatic😌
Scary Stories to tell in the dark was surprisingly creepy, freaky and disturbing at times. I liked it a lot! And for what I remember, there's literally no single drop of blood in it, but it didn't need to, because the deaths were already horrifying enough :p
The Fourth Kind is genuinely the most terrifying movie I’ve ever seen. I’ve never been so scared watching a movie and it’s the only one that has ever prevented me sleeping at night. My housemate once text our group chat saying “Guys look outside, there’s an owl in the garden” and I’ve never hopped into the safety of my bed so quickly. No PG13 list without "The Grudge". That's my personal fave. Usually I am all in for over the top blood and gore all day long, but there is something about "The Grudge", that constantly makes me rewatch this film.
Insidious is a super well made example of great PG-13 horror. I saw it in theaters when it came out 9 years ago. I was 14 , and it scared me way more than most R rated horror movies did at the time. I LOVE THE FOURTH KIND!!!! you have such good taste in movies all of these are SO GOOD
Great video. Glad to see so many really good movies on the list no one ever talks about.
When I think about PG-13 horror movies, The Gate 1987 comes to mind.
The Gate is one of the greatest horror movies that nobody knows about. I've loved it since the 80's.
1408 is so good. And John Cusack is a legend 😍
That he is, and you have Samuel L. Jackson to boot.
I really love The Babadook, it is an Australian psychological horror movie. Didn't got a worldwide release so not many have actually seen it. Very scary at moments, great story and top notch acting. It is really a must see!
