This is ABSOLUTELY fabulous!!! A totaly spit in face, foot in mouth to everybody who says diesel cars can't drift!!! OH YES THEY CAN! Torque is king when it comes to drifting, and turbodiesel cars are new muslecars! Would loooove to see one in Formula Drift or D1!
Of course, two of diesel fuel's environmental advantages have always been that diesel engines get better mileage than traditional gasoline engines and diesel fuel requires less refining. The energy costs required for refining crude oil into gasoline and the limitations placed on gasoline production by refineries in the U.S. both contribute to increased gasoline needs and to the degree that diesel fuel can offset the need for more gasoline, the environmental toll of refining gas is also reduced.
its a 3.0l engine called 320cdi although they are not using th commonrail diesel injection system :) they are using a mechanical dieselpump with 7 mm elements
New direct injection devices controlled by computers monitor fuel combustion, which leads to better energy efficiency and reduced emissions. Other new devices, such as CRT particulate filters and catalytic converters, are reducing soot, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions by as much as 90 percent. More environmentally clean forms of diesel fuel, such as ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD), is another way researchers are developing ways to reduce emissions of diesel fuel.
i agree that they emit those gases, but the economy wouldn't flop because the gov charges money for emissions testing in the U.S., also the pollutants from a gasoline car are what destroy the ozone. So strictly speaking diesel engines do less damage to the environment then gasoline cars. But you are right that all fumes from internal combustion engines are unhealthy for ppl.
actually diesel burns cleaner than gasoline, so it's actually etter for the enviroment, thats why diesels don't hav to go through emissions in the U.S.
That is tremendous!!! Would be better if it was running on cooking oil, get a big cloud of white smoke and a smell to make even an anorexic hungry! and not that I care but less pollution! EcoDrift :D
Turbo=/=Turbine ... turbo compressor are not engines thus not turbines but they do use a turbine (although that's only one component of them ... ) impressive W123
I don't know where that merc is from but scene might be in latvia definitely not in finland, but finnish drifting championship visit latvia every year and i recognize one skyline from finland so this might be that visiting event.
@CanijAsa No, It's not a more modern CDI, it's a 3.0l OM606 old school.... But yes it does have a Garrett GT40. The modern 320 CDI wouldn't be able to rev as high as this engine or handle the power.
Let me correct something...The driver aint Norwegian neither the car...How do i know that?? Well the driver is my friends friend( Or how ever you should say it) so yeah they are from Finland

اكلت الشارع اكل ما شاء الله
@dondapp Driver is from Finland, and track is from Latvia.
Correction. They seem to employ a next-gen engine, the OM606 with its infamous head.
That's unbelievable! I'm having my OM617 repaired and I know how heavy its pistons are. How did they manage to rev them so fast?
@999tomekatomek It's not about being eco, Diesel was used only because of huge torque and of course, because Mercedes is known from diesel engines :P
WAGON DRIFTING!

Yeah, it's from finland, I've seen it here and driven by finnish driver.
Hard to say which smokes more; the engine or the tires.
@sayfonix in this Mercedes is E 320 CDI Engine with Scania Turbine
@trondandresoreng It´s a 3l OM606 not a 320cdi.....
Studenci :D
In finland we fight polarbears and drift old mercedes'
