The vans should come like this standard
But then the criminals would do the same, with the new locks.
They can just break the glass
@@NigelTolley please explain
just what i was going to type, or at least offered as a security upgrade package
@1066Rider nothing wrong with ford
I spent most of my working life designing physical security solutions (some for very high security government installations) and all of these changes are perfect and very well researched. Hook mortice bolt locks are an excellent solution. Well done guys. It was sad to see that your sales tend to be to people who have already suffered a break-in - my products were sold under similar circumstances and it is crazy that folk fail to apply the proven principle that Prevention is Better than Cure and act BEFORE they suffer a break-in. Keep up the good work and edumacating Mr B !
Thanks for another great video.
It's shocking that the van manufacturers are not clued up on this sort of thing.
maybe they are and they maybe work in conjunction with insurance companies..win win
I broke with my girl and left the house. I was sleeping in my van that night and woke up with the side door open and i had locked it myself! Someone unlocked it without a key and the only thing they could steal was ME since i had all of my tools in the storage lol The thief left without killing me...
They look like a great company that offer a fantastic service.
Thank you PB, we all try our best to please!
For those thinking that this will be expensive, the locks are CHEAPER than the replacement Ford locks. The Transit van locks are a joke. One company we work with have a bunch of these vans and every one has been broken into.
I’ve been meaning to get a few dead locks on and this has just given me the kick up the arse I need.. thanks
I love how the man fitting locks is talking with a smile on his face , he like ££££££££
I work for a major car glass company and have been fixing windows on vans for years, you know the one van that’s never been broken in to? A florists van. Get down the signwriters lads.
That is brilliant. All those tradesmen saying it with flowers.
Steve Hastings I do carpets and have a black transporter.
I’ve got private ambulance written on mine
Best comment ever
I spoke to a pest control bloke the other day he said he hasn't ever had a break in either
@@robandamyp Mine has funeral service on it
This is the best I have seen for locks on cars and trucks!
I picked my transit custom up and droved straight to Euro car spares and bought a Disklok, the next day (the earliest opportunity) I had the hook locks fitted on the load compartment, I also ordered the dummy OBD socket kit, and the drivers door is next, this shouldn't be necessary and years ago wouldn't have been because no one nicked the tools of a mans trade, now anything's game and getting worse.
These Vans are not cheap, and you would expect manufacturers to already fit these devices, with the ford Vans, this has been around for a long time they should have recalled that vehicle. Part of the problem is the metal is so thin and flimsy on new vehicles like tin foil, they are cheaply made, but not cheap to buy.
fords were always the easiest to break into, when they first introduced central locking all you had to do was cut a tennis ball in half and cup it over the door lock and bang it with your fist and the locks would all pop-up, the fox-guard alarm systems they fitted were just as bad, pop the bulb with a screwdriver and jam silver paper into the bulb holder and that was disabled, how they didn't change anything for 15 years is crazy
Brilliant firm .. came out to London to upgrade the lock on my Transit .. excellent fitters and top class service .. Highly recommended
Thank you John
Sorry state of affairs regarding van thefts. Makes me ill but these guys are doing their best to prevent the hard working tradesmen having their livelihood taken away. Seems like they do a tidy job and seeing all that additional gubbins on the van will hopefully be enough to put the robbing bastards off the van.
Maybe the problem is that the country is turning into a shithole to begin with...
I live in mine but woke to my locks unlocking he won't touch my van again.
Van Dweller bollocks
SCAREY , VAN DWELLER .... I JUST BOUGHT ONE TO TRAVEL / LIVE IN ,........ HERE IN CANADA ....'T'WOULD BE MY WORST NIGHTMARE TO WAKE UP TO SOMEONE GAINING ENTRY , AS A LONE FEMALE !!!! THOUGHT I'D BE SAFER IN A VAN THAN IN A TENT .... NOT SO SURE NOW.

I’ve learnt the hard way, had my 63plate old shape transit broken into with the master key available online. We’ve had a big influx of van being done on the south coast in the past 2-3 weeks about 20vans in total. 2k out of pocket for second hand tools they’ll probably sell for 50-100 per item.
Sorry to hear that Oliver. It does make you feel like giving up. These thefts take place at night and the police have miles of CCTV footage of vehicle movements and it shouldn't be that hard to go through it.

Could you or Sussex instalations recommend a company as good in Leeds please?
I don't know any personally but I will ask my man on the ground. Alternatively a nice trip to sunny Eastbourne, at least you would be sure of a good job.
I'd love to Roger, but too busy with work at the moment and need it doing asap, as this is getting bad up here. I'm having to sleep with one eye shut and one open at night.
sounds like a decent guy with a good service
Had my Vivaro van security done by them yesterday in their workshop. Got in contact after seeing your Vivaro being done on here. Couldn’t believe my van didn’t have a basic alarm being a newer van. Defiantly worth the outlay and trip to them 👍🏻
Hi Ben
I am glad that they looked after you. I am very happy with what they did for me. My builder mate who lives down the road says he can see my little alarm armed light flashing away in the night.
Haha yeah I found that out last night. Thought there was flashes of lightning through the curtain, wasn’t until I looked out it hit me, yep that’s alarmed 😂
I had this company out on mine recently did a great job on the locks and about a week later my spare tyre was stolen....🤨 however highly recommend this sussex installations
Thank you for sharing this video, I like the way how you've installed the PIR in the loading area, can I make a suggestion? Install a blackvue dashcam in the loading area, because if the thieves do get into the loading area, you've got footage, and the evidence will be strong enough to bring the thieves to justice, if you're self employed and you get your tools stolen, that will put you out of business.
Unload your tools every night. I delivered medication to care homes for Boots. I brought in all drugs to my house every night to prevent them getting stolen. (I'd finish deliveries hours after the store closed).
back in the early 2000s we use to rivet on a padlock hinge clamp to the doors lol
They did a nice job on my van, I'd definitely use them again
bit DIY on the side door read switch.
use a proper gland or drill the right size hole.
nice product
need to finish better
Great video, I can't look at transit vans now without thinking about how easy they are to break into. Got to show my neighbour this video.
Would like to hear Sussex opinions on what the most secure van is right out of the showroom.
Anthony John i rather the good old rusty sprinter and transporter less grief with them
If only this upgrade would be available globally... would have a fleet of vehicles for you guys to upgrade.
Very cool locks lovely work GOD BLESS THE UK
Just got I'd of my external locks and have a set of super strong solenoid with a rfid unlock on doors. Multiple solenoid son each door. Without the rfid tag there is no way into the van,no locks to pick. Few other choice touches too, can't be having stuff stolen!
Andrew Wilson can you post sime info and parts list
mike shramowiat sure. I fitted an RFID high security touch pad to the body next to drivers door handle. Touching this with the RFID transponder unlocks the door solenoids and allows door to open. Solenoids fitted to body boor opening and engage in holes in doors. The solenoids and door holes have strong doubler plates fitted to resist attempts to prise doors open. The solenoids are shielded from attack by the body and the doubler plates. The back doors are similar with two solenoids locking the sliding door and four locking the rear doors!
Without the RFID tag there is no way other than strong physical violence to get into van. I realise a cordless angle grinder could cut van open but this could cut pretty much any van open?
I do a lot of diagnostics and can't be having any of my stuff taken. There is also a van vault box bolted down to van chassis in back that is similarly locked to keep computer, tools and stuff in. Judging by the occasional scratches in the paint there has been at least three attempts to get in that I know of but locks held firm. My reckoning is they don't try for too long before picking another target? All I got to do is make it difficult enough to put them off for long enough to move on?
@@andrewwilson8317 How do you get in if the battery goes flat?
Had my council van done twice and other vans have been done aswell , surly fords should do something about this ?
Your country should probably do something about the illegal immigration flooding in.
Ride around What did they nick?
Ride Around *ford
tell them not to buy tin cans you can get in with a tin opener literally
Looks like they have fitted Euro type locks. Most of these style locks can be drilled surprisingly easily. More importantly is that the locks are not protected from water and the lock barrels allow water to run back into the lock as the van side slopes inwards. Really good effort though spoiled by a bad choice of lock.
Thanks. I am starting to think that the hook lock is a problem. It needs spraying every couple of weeks to stop it rusting inside. I emailed the supplier and they didn't get back to me so I guess they are in denial.
Any lock without a cover is a really bad idea on a van!
Why not fit the hook type deadlock everywhere?
They seem so much more secure.
Love these vids. Can you do one on some older types vans so we can see what can and cant be done on older types as most older types of vauxhall n transits had there own different type of security problems. As we all are not lucky not own new vans but still have expensive tools inside. There is not much out there on work vans so appreciate you doing these videos.
Hi Cameron - We have something for the old Vivaro here ua-cam.com/video/VFBNSlZM0NQ/v-deo.html and the best link I have for information on the older Transit is on the website as we have updated our package since the video to include an electrical mod and rear door loom guard www.sussexinstallations.co.uk/products/cat-van-security-packages/sussex-installations-for1g---gold-security-package---ford-transit-ford-transit-transit-07-2014.html
Excellent video and great business the expert has in making vans as secure as possible.
With the obd Port I would change the wiring put Pure 12 Volt and blow their code breaker up fór good
A little issue i find is that this screams to thieves "something valuable is in my van" :/
it might scream that, but try getting into the thing... its like a cunting fortress!
Or is it saying ‘will you be done and gone before I come screaming out of the front door, naked swinging a baseball bat’.
That was my first thought too! Need it to be more discrete
Well done to this company for locks on vans👍👍
Sympathisch vorgestellter Komplettquatsch. Wetten?!
Great security job ! though theylle always find a way round it
Looks very much to me that the sliding door & tail door locks in this video are the type used in pvc doors, patio and main entrance doors🤔
Also what is to stop a would be theif actually twisting the whole replock on the drivers door with a strong flat blade screwdriver.
They are similar but much better quality. As for the door, that is why you need a good lock with a revolving bezzle, I am not sure a screwdriver would turn it but give it a go.
Absolutely ridiculous that these vans come so insecure from the factory.
Ford had this problem years and years the funny thing is you used to be able to do this with Ciaras as an escorts wax oil that will not last long
Growing trend is thieves cutting the panels to access the tools 🧰 In one case they accessed via the roof.
Pity you don't have a place up North. Superb company by the looks of it.
You would think at this point the police would be running sting operation where the van is bait and is full of police waiting for thrives to break in, my bosses van was parked round the corner from our job for 5 mins only to come back to find the doors lying wide open, lucky it was already empty, but in broad daylight they could actually do that says a lot about how they’re not even worried about getting caught
Fred Bloggs maybe a bit of the tax money we pay every week go towards helping out the men that build these cities, towns, hospitals etc
Holy crap, the presenter has Alan Ford's voici and accent. For a moment there, I thought Bricktop was telling me how to theft-proof my van!
To bad these deadbolts aren't available in the states here. Y'all seem to take work van security a lot more serious over there
We have a massive problem with crime over here, our police force has gone to sleep
@@SkillBuilder trust me we aren't to far behind, our current admin rewards criminals. Its getting bad in all parts of the country as well
Ford! Enough said
Need to go back to the old law you get caught stealing you get your hand cut off.
They should hook the PIR sensor up to a tear gas canister.
Wow with all that security on the van, if I didn't get in it the first time I would keep coming back to it, because I would be curious to know what they had in there with all that security take the tools out and leave windows so people can see what's in there, empty van they won't bother with.
Why don't the van manufactures get on top of this?
Not my problem
I can't understand it. Given that vans are very similar, and every manufacturer is looking for an edge, it makes perfect sense for a manufacturer to produce a van that is much more secure than the competitors. If such a van existed I would buy it. That idea that Jeff has of pressing buttons on the steering wheel in a sequence is something every vehicle manufacturer could incorporate. A simple PIN
Trouble is the more popular a van is then the more people are going to be looking for it's vulnerabilities, any manufacturers security system is put under huge pressure by having thousands of examples of itself out in the wild for the criminals to study and once they find a way in ALL the vans are at risk because they all know how to get in quickly.
If a thief attacks a van with an independently fitted security system they first have to work out HOW the van has been secured and what tools they are going to need to get in it and unless they are specifically targeting YOUR stuff they are more likely to just go down the road and attack a van without the extra protection instead.
It works the same way as the old IBM PC vs Mac computer virus debate, Mac owners liked to think their computers were virus proof, but in reality they got infected less because there were less of them and it just wasn't worth the time of the virus developers to write the software to attack them when there were far more IBM PCs with known vulnerabilities out there to infect.

I like your analogy and there is some truth in the popularity argument but that door barrel was a disaster. Don't make excuses for them.
Van owners deserve at least a basic level of security as standard and it isn't happening. High-level switches, alarm sensors in the cargo area and a programmable start sequence would help. It is still way too easy to steal Transit.
They could at least try and do better, but in reality if the thieves really can't get into standard vans through the doors or windows they'll just bring a battery powered angle grinder and cut their way in after disabling the alarm.
You can't win the battle against thieves all you can do is make it easier for them to go to someone else's van. A 100% secure van can still be picked up with a recovery lorry and driven away even with it's alarm going.
Best thing for individual owners is to have a secure van while the other lads on site or down your street don't and then it'll be theirs that get broken into and not yours.
Car dealer not far from me lost six cars in one night of his front, the crims backed a spec lift under them and just dragged them away, they were seen twice but no one thought to call the police apparently didn't matter what security they had on them they still got stolen.
We had our house broken into while we were sleeping so they could steal the keys to my landladys new Scirocco, they took the keys to my Audi as well but left the car, still cost the insurance a grand to sort out new locks and keys on it though so in a way its better for you if the vans are easier to break into as long as you accept the extra cost after purchase of improving the security yourself.
Interresting! Nice addition to your YT content Roger ;)
RS
Thanks, we thought it might help a few people out there who have resigned themselves to getting robbed. Nothing is perfect but it might stop some thieves.
HOOK locks are the best (independent Dead locks preferably ).
Just had fitted the excellent Arma D Locks to rear and side door and dead locks to the front two doors. Costly, but I sleep soundly. : )
There is a double glazing company behind my workshop, all their vans ,transits,Citroens,Renaults and fiats had high security locks fitted with cover plates etc.after repeated raids,, They were parked in a lit locked yard with cctv.Every van was opened in seconds they just used cordlesses with 4 inch core cutters ,pulled out the barrel complete with 4 inches of steel and operated the lock lever that way,3 of them took just under eighteen minutes to rob about 25 vans, their new transit only fleet have side loading doors with glass fitted, the vans are emptied daily and remain unlocked in the yard. If they want in they will get in and they do regardless. my view is that if you have high security locks the wrong sort of people know it's for a reason.they don't care about damage to the vehicle while yanking locks out, defeating high security locks results in far more panel damage than with standard locks.
Dick
There is truth in what you say but if all those vans had alarms fitted and there were 25 van alarms going off in the night plus the noise of the angle grinder it would be hard to ignore.
Why don't the manufacturers put a an external CCTV camera on the back and front, doubles as a Dash Cam
They would just use a jammer to stop signals being transmitted.
i always wondered if the ugly visible door locks on those transits is a security flaw..... it is :(
Scotch locks and spare obd off they go in seconds
what about cutting the exterior hings off the rear of the van since they are exposed.
Geoff has got work coming out his ear holes after this video!!
Had my transporter done 2 weeks ago (bastards) just had these locks fitted last week. They take a bit of getting used to regarding pressing the central locking button and the cargo area is still locked 😂😂 but ha ho a small price to pay.
Dreadful to think that vehicle manufacturers get away from installing inferior security locks to expensive motors.
Couldn't you literally just weld a strip of steel in a vertical orientation on the inside of the doors so that they can't peel them? It would take about half a kilo of cheap steel, surely?
I had my last Mercedes Sprinter stolen and my present Sprinter has been broken into twice.
These manufacturers don’t want to put extra security on their vans because they will lose money 💴 because you have to buy new parts from them or worse a new van!!!
These vans are built so cheap with cheap metal, my Sprinter front wings can be pushed in with my little finger!!
Antoine sprinter front wings are plastic
Thanks E36 Racer lol 😂 that’s why!!!
I see Sussex have just stopped supplying hook type locks due to reliability problems
We will verify that. I know they need to be lubricated to stop them sticking.
Anthony John
Yes, you are right and I have just read the news story on their website. The supplier has stopped because they had a high number of locks jamming. Apparently, the cold weather froze people out of their vans and if they are emergency plumbers that is not funny.
Such a shame because I have one on my rear door and I will be squirting it regularly. Hopefully the modified version will solve the problem but, for now, the alternative is a long throw bolt
Hopefully their new and improved hook lock will available soon, it does look more secure.
This is true L4V I think are the manufacturers, they have had reliability issues with them
Hi Anthony, the hook locks are available again now. After an the manufacturer investigated the problem they found that most of the problems were due to a bad batch. Although they are bringing a new revised version with a longer hook in this year.
We have the same problems in Canada. I'm in Toronto. They have broken in numerous times and the cops do nothing. If I were to put one of those devices on my vehicle I would be criminally charged under the law. The laws in Canada protect criminals not law abiding citizens
That's unreal but I'm not surprised at all looking at the state of affairs in Canada. What is the supposed logic behind making these devices illegal?
@@L.C.Sweeney just had a break in today !They broke into my sea container and got away with about 25k worth of tools and supplies .Cops won't do a thing .They tried to cut lock and couldn't get through it so they cut the handle to get it open
Great work your doing 👍
mine was done only saw the marks on the door
Can the latches not be made of hardened steel in case some one tries to use a hack saw blade, it'll just skate instead of cutting . Might sound far fetched but just an idea
Ford need to take a leaf out of this book! I remember the old Vauxhalls you could take the hazard light switch out turn it upside down plug it back in pull it out a tab and would bring the ignition on! Lol all it needs is a bump start and its away!
Holy crap! Just take the damn truck if you're going to go through the roof! Insurance will still cover most of these issues.

Will fit 2 locks on ds door.
Spent 6 1/2 hrs on the phone to West Midlands police before they picked up the phone. Clearly a great method to cut crime. They don't answer the phone.
There needs to be higher sentences for "Going equipped ".
Do the police contact me?
No.
Ford should pay for this
All the customs and big transits ford need to do a recall and put these right. Shouldn't be the drivers responsibility to fix something ford obviously made a huge mistake on, I mean come on vehicle crime especially van is so high in the UK how did Ford alow this to happen
Because they don't care
Nice little earner for Ford...a constant stream of people having to buy new locks at their ramped up prices...the solution is so simple, just put decent locks on the vans in the first place...Fords have always had a reputation to be piss easy to break into, but they have never done anything about it.
It was the main reason I didnt buy a transit, if everyone done the same they'd soon start putting decent locks on.
Thank you for a wonderful video.
Are there security measures for a promaster.
I live in the United states
Thanks again and any help would be appreciated
Clifford alarm with 2 stage proxy sensors
is this the good factory alarm??
How much are the packages
So if he can do this why can't the van makers do the same that way the van cart get nicked or broken into
What does all this cost, and shouldn't ford be paying for it?
What about the Ford Transit connect any lock upgrade for them?
What happens if the battery is dead
It's not a Troublesome Transit. It should be Troublesome Theives
You are right and we don't want to detract from that but few manufacturers make it so easy.
So Ivan drago is now old and drives a van.

You are fine, don't worry, there are no thieves in West Virginia
What do you recommend for a 2021 Nissan NV200?
Good to no that u can get locks like this
That mechanical door switch doesn't seem like it would last for the duration of the vehicle? I fitted magnetic switches (inductive, no physical contact/touch) to mine, since doors when closing will typically exert quite a decent knock on a mechanical switch.
Nicoleise
Highlighted comment
I share your reservations but it does seem like a beefy switch and I am sure they would not be fitting it if they had callbacks. That said I would be tempted toward the magnet except for the fact that the van is metal and you can cheat a magnetic switch with a magnet.
Skill Builder - Yes and no. You can in theory fool a magnet switch using a magnet, but it requires the correct polarization and must be applied in the correct direction without ever altering the state of the switch.
The magnet switches I used are used in home and commercial alarm systems. If they were realistically defeatable, I'm sure their utilization would be much less.
The vehicle being metal doesn't appear to impact operability. I've used them for more than three years on my current vehicle without even a hint of issues.
Nicoleise are these magnetic switches connected to the central lock or separate alarm system....
Why don't you do that with houses? Multiple dead bolts good idea. You can't keep people out of your house
