    Excellent review. I have an Ender-5 Pro, and this is definitely on my wish list now. The accessories and safety glasses are great points that I’m glad you covered. 👍🏻

    Thanks for the review , i just got my laser yesterday and i cutted the sample file with LightBurn app, i have a question how do i setup the function that the laser detect the wood or other material like in your video?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  17 днів тому

      I'm not exactly sure what you mean. The laser doesn't really detect the material. You can use the focus block to set the height off the workpiece. If you need to fine tune feedrate, passes, and power, you can use LightBurn's material test template: docs.lightburnsoftware.com/Tools/MaterialTest.html

    Very helpful video, thanks! Is there an attachment available to do things like tumblers, water bottles, etc?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому

      I don't know of a rotary attachment that Creality sells. You might be able to buy a third party one and figure out the motor pinouts, but you likely wouldn't have any support if you get stuck.

    I have a Creality Falcon. I just received the X-Tool case for the D1 and I believe they have redesigned the case. The front has a dip in top, but I flipped it over and didnt have to cut out anything. It fit perfectly as well. I also highly recommend the 500mm x 500 mm from Two Trees. I tried the 300 and 400 mm sizes but felt they were too small. The Two Trees honeycomb is also steel and doesn't discolor or crumb under pressure.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому

      Yeah, I flipped over that front panel initially, but wanted a better seal so I ended up doing the cutout. Thanks for confirming the Two Trees 500x500mm honeycomb fits. I wish I had bought that one myself!

    Hi- I think the air assist is in backwards- mine came with a leaflet to have the air assist pipe going over the laser warning sticker- this means no gap in the red cover at the front (safer) and also improves lifting the silicone hose up off the table. Thanks for the recommendation on the glasses!

    Thanks for the great video. I just purchased this model and will be setting it up shortly. I'm planning on making stacked items similar to your NASA project. Were the boards for that solid wood or plywoods? What thickness were they and what wood suppliers do you use?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому

      The boards were 1/16" thick solid hardwoods. I got them at Ocooch Hardwoods: ocoochhardwoods.com/scroll-saw-lumber/
      They've got a great selection of thin hardwoods and laser-safe baltic birch plywood, and shipping was really reasonable.

    what enclosure did you use to put the falcon in? was it the xTool one?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому +1

      Yes, it's the xTool one: amzn.to/3VvWqxK
      I did have to cut into the side to make it work, but it was the only pre-made hard sided enclosure I could find. Just know that their viewing window doesn't have a specified optical density or wavelength rating. (Neither do any competitors.) I bugged their customer service until engineering confirmed it didn't have a rating associated with it.

      @@DoresoomReviews np thanks for being thorough, you only had to cut for the control box or when you say the side had to cut elsewhere?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому

      @@3rdPedalMedia Just the one cutout for the control panel. I did it with a box cutter.

    I like your review and you seem very experienced and knowledgeable about lasers. I would like your advice please. I have zero experience with lasers but I think one could be useful in my knife making hobby, especially for engraving a makers mark. I watched your Creality falcon 10 w review and a Longer Ray 5 10W review. Both look terrific. Creality is on sale now for $255 reduced from $359.The Longer Ray 5 10W is also on sale now for $320, down from $519. Which one do you think would be best for me considering my inexperience and main use putting a makers mark on steel knives and maybe decorating the leather sheaths ?? Ease of use and short learning time are important to me also. Functionality and good customer support are also impirtant. Please offer your advice. Thank you.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  11 місяців тому

      I don't know anything about the Longer Ray5 brand. Creality on the other hand is an established brand that I've had good experiences with. Therefore I'd pick the Creality laser.

    Can we trust when sellers on Amazon say that their goggles are OD6 certified, or do we have to order off-site?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому +1

      I can't say for sure. One sanity check is that certified glasses will have the OD rating and wavelength written on the corner of the lenses, per the CE standard. If they don't have that, you can be sure they aren't certified. I suppose a company could easily forge that though.

      It's this one: amzn.to/3w4KUyG
      It still doesn't take up the entire cut area, since the border is about 0.75" wide. I've been happy with it for the most part, but I might have considered this one instead for covering the ENTIRE build area: amzn.to/3GJxddq

    Granite engraving possible?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому

      I haven't tried it myself, but I've seen quite a few examples of people engraving on dark stone or slate after coating it in lacquer first. Pretty much anything you can find an example of someone doing with a 10W laser, you should be able to do with this one too.

    • @DoresoomReviews

      It appears to be a generic unbranded one that I think Creality is planning on slapping their name on. I couldn't find it for sale on their website yet. Just searching Amazon for "laser air assist pump" returns about 6 brands that look exactly the same.

      "just about" were my exact words. At the time I made the video, the only non-sketchy 20W diode laser I was aware of was the xTool D1, which had launched just a few months prior. By far the most common max power offerings were 10W.
