Lyon Gaultier is a deserter in the Foreign Legion arriving in the USA entirely hard up. He finds his brother between life and death and his sister-in-law without the money needed to heal her husband and to maintain her child. To earn the money needed, Gaultier decides to take part in some very dangerous clandestine fights.

I used to love this trailer and all of the TV spots for this movie as a kid. I would be in the supermarket, at school, or pretty much anywhere, and would scream to the top of my lungs, "LIONHEEAAARRTTT!!!" Such a classic.

Anybody hasn't yet seen Lionheart is missing one of the greatest action movies ever made..
Ofcourse I am not joking, JCVD is in his emotional best in this movie, has some wonderful emotional scenes, superb dialogues, superb acting from the black guy, and ofcourse some of the best action scenes that form the core of any JCVD movie (action is almost on par with Bloodsport & Kickboxer, but just a bit faded, nonetheless they are great)

Suhas A agreed! I was surprised by his acting range here. For a change, he wasn't only relying on his kicking and punching. Possibly his best acting, for sure.

Action movies from the 70s, 80s, & 90s are great! I don’t give a crap about the movies we get nowadays, that’s how I feel. Out with the old, in with the new? Not always true, at least, in my eyes. That’s my two cents.

If van Damme was telling the truth in an interview about this movie that I saw, then some of the actors actually agreed to hit each other for real with some of their moves, one of them being van Damme himself, to make the street fighting experience as realistic as possible.

They made it seem as if he was taking revenge on the people that killed his brother. At least in the beginning of the trailer. It's completely not the case in the movie. That thread is tied up within the first 10 minutes.

In Australia this movie was called wrong bet. Lionheart just seems strange but anyway fantastic movie.
The trailer is so misleading!
"He's fighting for revenge"...no, he did it to provide for his brother's wife and kid, revenge has no part in the story.
"You lose, you die"...no, NONE of the losers died, nor were they ever told failure to win results in death.
