Are you a highly creative person, or do you know someone like this?
If you are one, what do you find the most challenging?

I have all of these signs. I struggle with being upset at myself for not wanting to leave the house and I struggle with procrastination. My biggest struggle is communicating in a way that others understand me, can be lonely for me emotionally. My husband has most of these signs but we are creative in very different ways. It has been interesting learning from one another.

some creative people have society including family members who don't understand their sense of vision, thus, turning them down, and transforming them into that uncreative society. the challenge in that for the creative person is that they have to constantly ignore the voices, stand firm upon their ideas, vision, and art; and try to prove these voices wrong. (I'm one of them)

  • @DinoSvanhvit

The hardest thing about being highly creative is that we don’t fit the mould, we are not like most people, so we wind up on the outside of society a bit,
and a lot of the time we are not ”moneymaking machines”
which as you turn older leads to loneliness.
That being said i would’nt trade it for the world.
I would still choose being me,
than a ”9-5 worker ” every time. I enjoy creating music way too much to quit. It’s like a drug, it gives my life a direction, and a meaning.
Take care all you creatives out there.❤️

Building toys at 5, soap box cars at 10, musc , art, restoring cars at 14, orthopedic surgeon at 24. Always searching for better way to perform procedure. Mind doesn’t stop. Do surgery now in sleep after 20 years of hanging up shingle. Now painting , creating new ideas every day. Prefer alone but comfortable as entertainer, educator of medical or art. 4 am now and ..yep! I find that keeping a notebook and pen next to my bed is the answer. Before I go to sleep each night, I write down anything on my mind that I need to take care of on a list, and then I'm able to put them out of my mind and go to sleep. They won't be forgotten because they will still be there on my list in the morning. When ideas come to me in dreams, I quickly write them down in my notebook and then go back to sleep. Doing this assures me that I won't forget great ideas that came to me in my dreams.

Alicja Wojcik, that’s because it’s a mindless place to be! It stifles any creativity! Lots of little robots playing follow the leader for 7 hours a day! After years of playing follow the leader, then they all learn to dress alike too. School was horrible for me! I was bored to tears and remember thinking, even in the first grade, how unfair it was to be locked away in the classroom all day when all I really wanted to do was be free and do my own thing. What a waste of all the young years!

Hardest thing I find about being a creative person.... having conversations with others where you can use your time talking about what you enjoy making, adding details and going deep without having to reach for a point or lesson every 3 seconds to keep anyone engaged or from falling asleep. Finding other creatives is also hard, they're often like me, hiding in their cave or at the back of the bus behind a hoodie and a size too large headset blazing classical music and drifting off into reverie. What a joy when you do find them :) Long live the weird, strange, different, creative, open, thinking, odd, nonconformist, rebel people of earth!

4 years late & just reading this now: This is a common issue, I think creative people need to tell themselves how much better they'll be thinking after a good sleep. Write down what you hope to achieve tomorrow, beit a sketch, music or actual words, knowing you'll be back at it the next day with a fresh new approach. 9 - 5 is an unfortunate societal stigma, but we still have to know when & how to rest the brain what ever the clock is at. Be inspired with the idea of a new day after sleep. Go to sleep with the idea of dreaming about what new ideas tomorrow will bring, but not trying to create at that moment, there's a difference between dreaming & creating. Sleep should allow the mind to roam freely in a dream scape, new ideas will come when you wake with a fresh mind.
I learned this a while back for self perservation and not burn out...

A difficulty of being creative is having so many ideas and wanting to share them with a world that doesn´t want to change how they work. Or having so many interests that you feel unchallenged dedicating yourself to only one of them as society expects from you. Amongst other reasons, a consultancy rejected me for taking up their time with my ideas and for being involved in too many areas of work.

About seven years ago, my mother told me I am different from them (the rest of the family). While I didn’t show it, this hurt my feelings. I am overly sensitive. I need to be alone a lot, and it is frustrating when my work in progress gets interrupted. That’s why I hate the telephone. I keep my ringer on mute. It has been a contradiction that I am both extroverted and introverted. I am many times the life of the party, yet I must have my space to be alone, so I can think and regroup. Most of the time I want to be alone, so I can do my own thing. When it comes to working, I prefer to use my brain in thinking up a solution or producing something, rather than doing manual routine labor. I enjoy researching something to know more about it. I desire to touch surfaces to find out how they feel, and to look at objects and study them for a longer time than normal than what is usual. My mind is never still, and it doesn’t turn off. I even have complex dreams in vivid colors, it seems every night. I don’t sleep well. This video has helped me understand myself. Thank you.

My biggest challenge is overcoming my physical disability ( chronic back condition ) to then actually put ideas into action . The procrastination is drawn out into literally years of a project waiting to be finished ! Besides that , and all the challenges involved in being creative , it has been a blessing . Having a connection to my intuition , confidence in the creative process , feeling an effortless flow , is awesome . My challenge is to honour my own creative mind , respect and appreciate it as much as it deserves . Due to my upbringing and societal values and expectations , much of my natural talent went to waste and for many years just caused me grief and confusion . What I love to do in my life now is to encourage young people to value their creativity . I have an extremely gifted child as a neighbour , and I feel blessed that she is drawn to me and I am a receptive friend who enjoys her talents . When she first came to my house at 5 yrs old , I remember her eyes lighting up when she realised I was actually seeing her for who she is . I saw this relief and joy flow into her , She is 7 now and performing in her first play of Pinocchio next week . I can’t wait ! 😊

have had many conversations w one of my daughters---when i tell her i can't sleep, she will say, "i just make my mind stop thinking, and i go right to sleep." i can't do that. one bedroom in my house is my messy studio--it's where my easel, canvasses, paints, etc. are. i really need to be around other people, genuinely love them, like to act the clown, but then after a social day, i have to unwind, be alone, maybe do nothing at all. the same daughter tells me i'm "too" sensitive. i can't be any other way. yell at me, criticize me, gang up on me, and i'll cry. not in your presence, but when i'm alone.

Be kind to yourself and smile as much as you can. I am who I am. I don't have the youtube link but you can check the I AM words power, it did me good 😊 take care. Kat (Paris)

It gave me confidence and helped me to accept and enjoy who I am more . And tonight, after my husband rode with my son on a trip for several hours, my husband basically agreed with my son saying I'm a narcacist. My son is very analytical, probably a genius, and my husband is very ordinary. He was supposed to chastise my son for calling me narcissistic. His thinking was totally redirected by my son's clever verbage! And now what do I do? My son doesn't respect me, and my husband is now in agreement with him! And, I've always thought my son was narcissistic, and I still do. This situation just has me so bummed. I don't know what to think. Only other creatives understand what it's like to have no need of food whenever you're "in the zone:"; what it's like to care so deeply about a project; what it's like to be an introvert who craves socialization; what it's like to have everyone else tell you that you used bad judgement in problem solving when you were simply thinking "outside the box", etc. I've had a VERY painful life simply because 90% of the planet doesn't seem to understand what it's like to be creative. I was blessed with a family that at least encouraged me to be myself so I could walk to the beat of my own drum. I can be logical like 90% of the planet, but after a while, I find it too emotionally smothering, and I feel like I'm suffocating.

I’ve always been like this, I’ve always admitted to it too. My son , and oldest granddaughter, that’s 19 is like this as well. We’ve been through so much. However, we’ve all grown from it and it’s nice to be blessed meeting others like this. Such a blessed, regatta how others feel about us, & can’t understand! Xoxo

This is 100 pct me. The thing I get accused of is starting a new project and haven't quite finished the last one. I am a huge multitasker and often get confused myself, lol. Awesome video, and all is absolutely true and highly creative people. We march to the beat of a completely different drummer, just about always.

The biggest stuggle I'm still facing being creative is the people around me don't understand. They're trying to put their understanding of life on me, what'll never work. Although I understand why they're trying to do that, they do not understand my resistance.

My mind is like a grenade of spider webs and every strand is an idea when the pin is pulled. I find myself audibly groaning while mentally trying to keep hold of an idea or thought before realizing I'm still wrestling with the last one. It's a gift and a curse. Great video.

One thing about the highly creative people who are able to excel in their creativity is the ability to learn and focus without allowing the distractions that creative people are always willing to explore hinder their focus. Focus and dream help the creative person to stay on track, writing down ideas, but not being distracted!

Wow!! I'm up at 3am listening to this I couldn't sleep. So, I'm researching what part of the Brain controls creativity. Lol!! I drive my husband crazy with my endless projects. He's always asking me questions as to what am I doing now? I told him once we get a bigger home I need, I must have my own room so I can create whatever I want too. He just shook his head and smiled. I have to create things it helps me unwind. I totally agree with everything that was expressed in this video because it's me 100%. I'm most creative in the early morning hours. 🥰

3 minutes in and it’s annoyingly true 🤣... I complain about constantly thinking all time... and right now I have about 5 different projects going on from painting, wood burning, sewing a dress, learning a new song on the like 5 different instruments I know, and making a fireplace 😂... I don’t have ADD I just don’t like not doing something because I feel like I’m useless otherwise (there’s always something that can be done or needs to be made)... i think the hardest thing for most creative people is finding a good place to create and share it... society just makes it hard for us... I just need to find that place (that 9-5) just isn’t working for me... I’m actually thinking about one day opening up an arts and crafts cafe where people can come in and learn different arts or just come in and make crafts all while enjoying a nice cup of tea or coffee (a sort of free thinking space)

I have been kind of thinking about this (being a creative) and me and my traits alot lately. Especially about the part of procrastination and how others view me. I'm afraid the universe may have cursed me with a lot of things that can put me in this category. I'm an INTP and a Libra. But to my point. I've concluded lately that part of what others see as procrastination is just the process by which I think and work. I have many areas of interest and like to create things and would like someday to monetize on this and possibly be what I do as a living. I am also very resourceful and I don't like to waste much. Especially things that I dont think are garbage (but most others would). K. Main point. 1. I see ideas of things i would like to create. 2. Then as i go through life as "they" would like me to I always have every project in my head and a list of everything I need to accomplish making this or achieving this. So I pick up a piece here or there. 3. Then when I get so much of a project I will start it till im out of what I need next. 4. Then I move on to the next project leaving that one till Ive obtained the next pieces of the puzzle. 5. Then so on and so forth like a big circle and every now and again a project will come to fruition. I feel in life I don't see it as building stuff up like a tree from the base up. I see it from the end product and where I want it and/or me to be. I work like a tree starting from the leaves. I see the last end result. 1) I accumulate my leaves 2) Then I can start putting them together and connecting/building with branches 3) Then they connect together to make limbs 4) Then you connect those parts to have a trunk and your final product. ANYWAYS... The whole point is I think creative people are sometimes seen as procrastinating by others but maybe we just see the end result and we dont have everything to finish it yet and when people step in who dont understand us and try to push us to be someone we are not or just wont try to understand how we function its like coming in and burning down our tree that we've worked so hard on just because they see a pile of leaves. Thats where especially for me I can instantly just say "f" it. Why even bother doing anything if what I do is always just destroyed? Its very crushing to a creative person when they are restricted in being who they are and not being able to function in the way they work and process life. 🥵🤤 K. Im done

I've been doing music since 1991, I'm kinda obsessed with it. While I was watching this video I had a new beat in my head but it was gone when the video ended. I'm in "loop hell" as they say, I start tons of new projects but seldom finish any. This month alone, until today I got 33 projects that I got going ... mad. I got ideas coming out of my ears almost every day. My mind never stops racing at 1000mph. Very tiring sometimes. And I'm also positive there is a correlation between mental illness and high amounts of creativity.

I find the most challenging areas of life are buying into other people’s ideas. I easily recognise what I see as important, and what I relate to, and as such whereas others can have their own opinion, they should not expect me to relate to it.
I recognise that people can relate to my perception of things, so it’s not as if I’m completely unique and off the wall.
Because I do not mindlessly follow trends, but tend to set my own, that can make me not so much an oddity, but a curiosity. I have recently discovered the Sigma character style, to which I would appear to relate, and from that perspective I tend to live my individual life, with few compromises. It can certainly be lonely, but I can get my creative flow functioning, whilst allowing minimum interruption, but maximum inspiration from preferred sources.
In short:- Follow me if you want to, we could enjoy it.
