    Great series really enjoying this. It must to very satisfying building from scratch rather than just buying ready made .

      I was actually hesitant to get started but now that I am going on it is a pretty fun build. I think it will look great when finished!

    It's an M870 Low Boy Trailer 40ton series. Depending on the branch of serves some of them did have ramps at the back, they all had the drop down goose neck. Now the transition is to the detachable goose neck you see on all low deck trailers. In the Army, on the engineer side we use the 916, 920 which was fazed out and the terrible LET to haul equipment on the trailers. The trucks used a hydraulic wrench on the back to lower and pull the trailer up the ramps to the 5th wheel. Interesting build.

      Thanks! The trailer will be an M870A1 (hopefully!)

    Super nice build video!!! I wish I had the workspace you have. I live in a small apartment and my workbench amounts to a fold-out Tablemate dinner tray......somehow I make it work!!! Can't wait for part 3....... :)

    I'm looking forward to see what you do to solve the problem with suspension. I see you have almost no spring deflection on the center axle due to the spring not being able to stretch when compressed. Leaf springs get longer when compressed that's why devices like spring shackles and equalizer bars are used in leaf spring suspension systems. I'm kinda a suspension nerd lol

      Yep, working on it now. Will have more in the next video. To me this is the fun working things out as I go and the suggestions and comments from my viewers arer awesome! Thank you for watching.

    I´ve been following this build with interest. I do have query, though. On my old Land Rover, there was a bracket at one end of each spring and a sort of swivelling shackle at the other end, to allow the spring to become slightly longer when compressed. It looks to me as though this setup, without the swivels, relies upon the foremost axle being displaced slightly forwards and the rearmost axle moving back a little whenever the springs are compressed. What am I missing?

    • @HobbyconceptsLLC
      @HobbyconceptsLLC  4 роки тому +1

      You are not missing anything, that is exactly what happens. I am playing with the spacing now and will sow how it all works out in the next video (I hope!!).

    Frame rails look like they need to be flipped over so they dont hit the wheels. also middle axle is out of alignment

    • @HobbyconceptsLLC
      @HobbyconceptsLLC  4 роки тому

      Actually the rails work fine. The axle alignment is part of the suspension I am working on for the next video.

    I cant wait to save enough money, Im gonna try all of the things that you do and also I have a question. What kind of battery should I buy for my grand hauler and another one for the tgy i6 radio that I bought?

    • @HobbyconceptsLLC
      @HobbyconceptsLLC  4 роки тому +1

      My personal favorite battery for vehicles is the Turnigy 2 cell 5000mah pack. You can find it here: hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-5000mah-2s1p-20c-hardcase-pack-roar-approved.html
      I just use regular alkaline batteries for the transmitter. They work great and last for what seems like forever.

    • @jasonsimpson3985
      @jasonsimpson3985 4 роки тому

      @@HobbyconceptsLLC thank you, I have the battery. But now I have 7 different chargers and none of them can be connected to this battery, which charger should I buy for this particular battery.

    You think steel instead of aluminum will work just fine?

    • @HobbyconceptsLLC
      @HobbyconceptsLLC  Рік тому

      Steel would probably work better - if you can weld (I can't).

    • @monroyu9519
      @monroyu9519 Рік тому

      @@HobbyconceptsLLC i can’t weld either but I can use bolts🤣
