Getting a perfect fold in a press brake requires attention to several factors, and the ideal approach will depend on the specific material, thickness, bend angle, and your press brake setup. However, here are some general tips to help you achieve the best results:
    Before you bend:
Tooling: Choose the right punch and die for the desired bend angle and material thickness. Using the wrong tooling can lead to inaccurate bends, marks, or even damage.
Machine Setup: Calibrate your press brake regularly to ensure accurate tonnage and bend angle control. Check for any wear on tooling or machine components that could affect bend quality.
Bend Line: Mark the bend line clearly on the material using a scribe or marker. This ensures accurate positioning and consistency.
Bend Allowance: Account for bend allowance based on the material thickness and bend angle. You can find bend allowance charts online or in metalworking references.
    During the bend:
Positioning: Place the material accurately between the punch and die, aligning it with the bend line and any back gauge stops. Use hold-down clamps if necessary to prevent material movement.
Bending: Apply the bend gradually and smoothly. Avoid sudden stops or starts, which can cause distortion. Hold the bend pressure for the recommended time based on material and thickness.
Springback: Springback is the tendency of the material to partially return after the bend is formed. Account for springback by overbending slightly or using specialized tooling.
    Additional tips:
Practice: Start with scrap material to experiment and fine-tune your technique before bending your final piece.
Lubrication: Use a lubricant recommended for the material to reduce friction and wear on the tooling.
Safety: Always follow safety precautions when operating a press brake, including wearing appropriate PPE and following lockout/tagout procedures.

I use use a caliper to measure the flattened length and then bend it and measure the legs again. Record the allowance and deductions.

The manufacturing company i use for sheetmetal only change the bottom v all the top tools are 1mm raduis how do i know what i must put in my inventor for inside raduis

    • @Metalcut1412

      First of all
1.ask them for inside radius for all V which they can get from their tooling provider.
      2. Decide what Ir you want to use. Based on the V.
      3. Ask your company about correct K factor chart.
Normally, if company uses standard companies like amada or trumph or bysoft they woul first put your parts through theire press break program which should automatically do the adjustments.

No different bottom V will give you different IR. So put that IR that V gives you .
Ideally bottom V will be 8Xthickness. then check how much IR that V gives you to your thickness in Force chart diagram.

These are metric units only? Could it be converted? Or we cannot use it with imperial?

Unfortunately you can not but you can convert it into metric to find the K factor because K factor will be a constant
