- I bought this PS5 for $100 from someone who had originally bought it from eBay. The seller said that it won’t turn on at all, so we’re going to have to get inside of this PS5 and see what’s going on. Let’s see if I can get it working again!

Merry Christmas Steve. I’m a novice with circuit board repairs but can you epoxy new pads to the board and then jumper or solder the pads to the traces for the fan connector or is that area of the board not feasible for that kind of repair?

Was wondering how long it's been since you tried looking up schematics for the PS 5. I did a search for PS 5 mother board schematics and found all kinds of schematics for them including diagrams showing where those caps went to.

what were you diagnosed with? i recognize that face, it the same as every one else who was going through it when i had my own chemo and radiation therapy. it said your in remission. you fully up to full speed and strength again, or still struggling? i was never able to get my full strength and balance back. hope everything going well.

Hi! in the zoomed part of the fan connector, what is the thing over the ''FW'' word ? it's a white square with a round metalic part over it. what's the use?
just add some wires from the disk drive power on to the button. Also did ya look inside the connector on the board for the power button

why you didn`t look on the micro-button itself on the board?
I feel like it's easier to just replace the whole board but that's just my opinion
would copper foil tape help with fixing the trace ? I was searching and one was listed on Amazon. I am just curious.
The best thing the customer did was return the PS5 to the seller. Unsolvable problem.

Not a bad deal to get a PS5 for $100 that still works with only a broken power button IMO.

Did you try cleaning the button possibly something in the way not letting it make complete contact.
I was thinking the ribbon button connectors may be corroded or something
@ could be would like to know if he gets it working what it was possibly connect a different button with ribbon to rule out the button and give us an update 🙂
someone know the exact size (not tickness) of the PS5 standard (day one release) CPU alone ?
have you tried to change out the actual button for the ps5 ? maybe fault

What I wondered in the part where you resolder the fan-connector: Couldn't you maybe take the white part (fan socket), pull out the pins from the bottom and reinsert them 180° rotated, such that the same pins stick out the top instead of the bottom? I could imagine that this could potentially make this repair a lot easier, because you do not have to mount the connector weirdly, but just a little lower than normally.
Those small capacitors look like a pain...
I didn't even know the ps5 had a power button i just use the controller to turn it on

Gravity is a bitch. Anyone notice the dry spot is always to the left aka top side when vertical cause the T-1000 (Lol) sags down cuz of gravity... these consoles are def meant to lay flat.

Why not solder a pigtail with new connector to the board and then you could replace the connector on the fan and try to reuse it. Just a thought
