First of all thanks for coming. O wpuld also say never ever call it the Kay-vern quarter. Its Cav-en. Also its 'The Phil' or Phil-amonic - you never pronounce the H. Opposite the Phil is The Casa Bar on Hope Street which is a very socialist place wkrh a lot of history about Liverpool dockers. Tbe Phil does lovely chicken pies. Next time go to Goodison Park Everton , go see the Naked Men Anthony Gormley sculptures at Crosby Beach and go to Bold/Castle Street for food and The Lion Tavern and Roscoe Head and Thomas Rigbys and Ship and Mitre for a pint. Also you didn't have a bowl/pan of scouse! It's basically our answer to Irish stew. Normally the Anglican Cathedral or Metropolitan Cathedral restaurants do it. Also next time go in the Catholic cathedral crypt. As for the Albert Dock I'd reccomend Docklands Fish and Chips and Ruben's coffee and Italian canolis etc. As for the museums Liverpool has a very left wing trade union industrial abolitionist history (The Roscoe Head pub is named after an abolitionist MP) . Maybe come back when Evertons new stadium in tbe Kings Dock is open and go walk around the Tobacco Warehouse. Glad you made a video on my home city voted along with Glasgow which is extremely similar to Liverpool as the friendliest city in the UK. We also have rhe most parks and listed buildings outside London and films use Liverpool due to its Georgian architecture to pose as London.

The Albert Dock was named after Prince Albert who officially opened the dock in 1846. The docks dominated global trade at the time. The use of cast iron, brick and stone was the first fireproof design to be used in Britain.
We will definitely be back Amy because we really wanted to visit 👀 It's a shame that there was a graduation ceremony during our intake, but nothing lost because it will be fun to come to Liverpool again!
We've been a bit worried this summer because whenever we wanted to visit a particular place, the weather just suddenly changed 😪 So we needed to be more spontaneous this summer haha Although, sometimes people say that it's nice to watch the videos anyways because usually it is quite cloudy so it resembles the reality more haha
Karolina seems more confident in the videos from when she started. You can tell when she’s happy, her eyes sparkle and she smiles so much. You look a great couple. 😊
Oh thank you! I must admit that when we stared filming I was terrified with the thought that so many people will possibly watch me and judge me for whatever reason haha - I believe it's just not super natural to simply "put yourself out there" but with time, you get used to it 🥰 Now myself and Jay, we want to be as authentic and real as possible because only then you can truly get to know us!
The phrase "happy as Larry" is a colloquial expression meaning extremely happy or content. It is primarily used in British and Australian English. The exact origin of the phrase is uncertain, but there are a couple of theories: 1. **Larry Foley**: One popular theory suggests that the phrase refers to Larry Foley, a famous Australian boxer from the 19th century. He was reportedly very successful and wealthy, leading to the association of his name with happiness and contentment. 2. **Larboard**: Another theory posits that the phrase might have nautical origins, with "Larry" being a playful alteration of "larboard" (an old term for the left side of a ship), used in conjunction with "happy" to describe sailors who were content when the sea was
We are always friendly here up north because the cost of living is cheaper and also property ... I went to London and stopped at Putney Bridge Premier Inn and booked a taxi to take me to King's Cross railway station to go back home (saloon) and it cost me £55 the same seven and a half mile journey up Teesside would have only been £14 , and that is just one example 🤔 🏴 .
So glad you enjoyed our lovely city .. just thought I would help you with the way we pronounce some of what you spoke about. The Liver birds pronounced l(eye)ver, and the Cavern club pronounced cav (like have) ern club.😊
I love Liverpool especially shopping and eating out,I live Cheshire so not long on the train . People give it a bad press there are scumbags in every town and city but people of Liverpool and Northerns are so friendly 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍
The Liverpool Building is pronounced Lie - ver. Mersey pronounced Mer- zee. So glad you both are enjoying your visit. You'd need a few visits to see everything. Hope you get to see both of our cathedrals on Hope Street. One is Church of England building in a traditional manner with a tower open at certain times to climb to the top. One of the biggest in Europe. The other is a Catholic building and an original modern circular crown shape adorned with breathtaking stain glass. Enjoy!
Ships do not park, they dock and when they are being maintained or repaired they Dry Dock. That boat you saw in the dry dock was the old Pilot Boat, you can read up on the history of the Liverpool Pilots, it is a very interesting history. I hope this is helpful.
🙏 It helps A LOT when a more informed person (often with experience) can tell you what certain places and devices are for - we can't know everything, so we try to involve you in suggesting what something can be for 😬😬 Thanks for sharing!
In fact, Liverpool is often overlooked despite its rich cultural heritage or huge role in history as a key port city during the British Empire. We were keen to point out that people have often had negative opinions about various areas of the city, but despite the economic challenges, it has bounced back with a thriving arts scene and passionate sports culture, but people don't always give it the credit it deserves.
It's still a fact that all the nonsense still hurts Liverpool. Then people visit and realise you won't find a friendlier people. Glad you guys liked it hope you come back again.
@@JayandKarolinahellooo I’m a scouser and I absolutely loved this video - it was a showcase of Liverpool and this is the first time I saw in the men’s at the Phil 😂 I see why it’s grade two listed!
Great video guys, but there’s so much more to see than just the centre. Especially in the summer, Speke is lovely, as is Kirby and Old Swan, all friendly places with plenty to see and do.
Hope you both had a great time in my home city. There is an incredible audio recording from a BBC reporter on the streets of the city centre during the blitz narrating the attack as St Luke's church is hit - it's incredibly moving and a great piece of social history. Check it out if you can find it online.
Haha it's liver building like lie-ver , and that's Billy Fury statue he was born in Liverpool 😁 and it's cavern like cabin 😀 I'm glad you enjoyed it we get a bad reputation!!!
That was a well filmed video again. Im also an LFC fan. Jay do you fancy us to challenge this year? Trip wise the only minor thing lacking was your usual light refreshment break before or after lunch lol
Thanks mate! I'm excited for the style of play - I love Jurgen Klopp but it became a bit boring to watch the same style in the last few years. I'd love to see us sign Anthony Gordon! If we don't make any new additions or significant ones I think we will struggle to challenge but let's see! We had a refreshment from Tesco but didn't know if we should record it haha
You should have popped into the White Star pub .... Lots of Titanic & other White Star line shipping memorabilia in there . The Philharmonic Pub is a listed building & the toilets are original to the building & are also protected .
Gutted you missed the cathedral, lived across the road from it for two years and can't get enough of the place. worth a trip back sometime especially if the tower is open and you can go to the top! Also would recommend the cathedral gardens down the path just to the left of the entrance, an ex stone quarry now park and graveyard right in the shadow of the cathedral for some lovely views and much needed green space. P.S: the metropolitan cathedral may be modern, but the anglican cathedral was actually completed later than the metropolitan in 1978! It took 74 years to build however compared to the met's 5 years
We were quite disappointed with the fact we couldn't enter the Anglican Cathedral but will definitely try to enter it next time when in Liverpool! Thank you so much for sharing all the insights :) So interesting!
Yes! Thank you! We always try to pay a visit to the most iconic spots at first but we definitely need to come back to Liverpool to finally being able to enter the main Cathedral + have a drink at the Mathew Street 🥳 Any other recommendations from the local?!
hi again Jay the 3 graces are named after the mythological Greek Three Graces who were the goddesses of charm, beauty and creativity, and some look at them as guarding the city, it is also said that should one of the LIVERBIRDS disappear then Liverpool would cease to exist
Inside the Anglican Cathedral, You will find an old classic red phone box. Its there as the its architect and designer also was the architect of the cathedral.
Anyone visiting Liverpool -- take a bus/cab/train to Lark Lane (St Michaels stop) and have something to eat/drink and take a walk around Sefton Park. I live just off the park, you won't regret it. It's about 8-10 minutes in a cab, it's not far at all (£8-12)
We all have Irish relatives in Liverpool.well most scousers do tbh. Thats why were a friendly bunch . Hope you enjoyed our city . At least its nothing like Birmingham.
Liverbirds / liver building is pronounced lie..ver and the cavern club is pronounced cav..ern ,oh and a little aside ,st George's hall was Charles Dickens favourite venue .
Hi guys! Thanks for the cool video. It makes me reminisce about my trip there last October. And yes, I also ate at the Philharmonic! It's the place where Paul McCartney played a surprise gig during James Corden's Carpool Karaoke episode! By the way, I hope to return to Liverpool next year. *fingerscrossed 😁By the way, YNWA from Jakarta! ✊
Thank you so much for sharing and we're so glad it brought you all the memories ❤️ Liverpool definitely has its own atmosphere and I'm sure we will be back for sure soon too! You've found a real gem because as you've just stated The Philharmonic Dining Rooms are not just an ornate restaurant but a real place with rich HISTORY!
Not a bad review! First time watching your posts, I would recommend only two things for future posts - take some local advice beforehand, and actually give a summary review at the end rather than heading to another city to promote a new hotel, then just ending. It’s quite frustrating.
Thanks mate! What should we have done different from a locals point of view? That's also a fair point - we're usually explaining how we feel about the place as we go through the video so we don't want to repeat ourselves at the end but it makes sense. We weren't supposed to stay at that hotel - we had a weird experience with our Airbnb and fortunately The Seven helped us out for a night so we got lucky and just wanted to showcase the hotel as a thank you.
Something you may not have noticed is how beautiful and unique the architecture is, many of the famous Gotham city (Batman comic) movie scenes where shot in Liverpool. (the Liver building and Georges hall being 2 of them) - *next time you watch the movie keep a look out :) *btw - it's pronounced 'Kav'in' - not Kay-vern (i imagine many Beatles fans and people from Liverpool where probably cringing when you was saying that lol. - *Liverpool is lit up so beautifully at night (it's very romantic) and you can just wander around like you have here.
Thanks for pointing this out Kevin! Maybe we didn't talk about it enough, but we hope every viewer will appreciate these beautiful buildings from times gone by :) Because indeed a lot of films have been made around them!
It is the (L eye 9:58 ver building and birds). Ships are moored. It is the Royal Albert Dock. It isn't Elvis, it is Billy Fury. It is pronounced (cav- ern). St George's Hall is used for film making. The Anglican Cathedral is the eighth largest in Europe. You missed the crypt under the Catholic Cathedral, it was the beginning of a Cathedral that wasn't completed, it is huge, there is a £5 entrance fee.
Welcome to my home City. You have mispronounced a few places and building but as you are not from around here I forgive you. I'm glad you enjoyed your time there. The Liver building and birds, Bertie and Bella is pronounced lie-va. Opened in 1911, the building was the purpose-built home of the Royal Liver Assurance group, which had been set up in the city in 1850 to provide locals with assistance related to losing a wage-earning relative. You are missing the R out of the Cavern Club. You kept pronouncing it cavin. It's pronounced Cav-earn.
The Philharmonic Pub is a legend in Liverpool...its near clubland ..so we used to drink there in the 60's before we went to the Cabin club...also Paul MCartney did a gig in the large lounge area about 5 or so years back
Loving your enthusiasm but maybe some background knowledge and pronunciations would be worth accessing.. Live-er-birds..Cav-Earn. Elvis? research Billy Fury... but thanks for your positivity and complimentary commentary.. glad you had a nice visit 😎
@JayandKarolina thank for answering my comment, us Scousers can be somewhat protective of our heritage but we also Love our visitors to react proactively about 'the greatest city' on planet earth.... yeah, we're also modest 🤣... keep up the good work 👏 👏👏
On 19.20 the red building used to be called the probe a record shop I used to go the in 70s 80s get my records a quite famous singer used to serve us before he was famous but still very scary lol his name is Pete burns
My dad used to shop there, apparently Pete always had something snotty to say about whatever particular record you were buying (unless he actually liked it obviously). It became something of a trend for him and his mates to shop there just to hear his pearls of wisdom 😂
I'm a Liverpool FC fan so I had been at the stadium before and was thinking to do it in this video but then thought that the tour around Anfield would be a completely different video topic on its own 😬 Could have shown the surrounding though!
I live about 200 yards away from the Cathedral. I live on Upper Parliament street in a georgian flat. My bedroom view is of the back side of the cathedral.
Great video guys, and glad you both enjoyed the experience in our city. If nobody has previously mentioned it in the comments it's pronounced "Lie-ver" 😁 👍
Thanks for sharing! I did make this pronunciation mistake but the funny thing is that I had no clue how to say it correctly 😅😅 Glad you still enjoyed watching our video!

We will definitely be back Amy because we really wanted to visit 👀 It's a shame that there was a graduation ceremony during our intake, but nothing lost because it will be fun to come to Liverpool again!
I hope you had a lovely time in my city! ❤
We truly did ❤️
Welcome to my home . We love people who come to our home
Wonderful video guys. Great city isn’t it :). Not underrated these days, it’s just won the Which? Best UK city break.
You are right! You can definitely go for an extended weekend because there is a lot to see or experience - whatever you like!
Great tour of Liverpool, it looks a wonderful city to visit.
It really is! Many thanks 😍
You were very fortunate to be in Liverpool when there was a brilliant blue sky and fluffy white clouds - it made the waterfront look amazing.
We've been a bit worried this summer because whenever we wanted to visit a particular place, the weather just suddenly changed 😪 So we needed to be more spontaneous this summer haha
Although, sometimes people say that it's nice to watch the videos anyways because usually it is quite cloudy so it resembles the reality more haha
The Three Graces represent the 3 main buildings at the Pier Head.. The Liver Building, The Cunard and the Port of Liverpool. 😊
Liverpool is the best city in the UK, bar non ❤
Try Lark lane, plenty of bars and restaurant’s.
One of my favourite cities.
Welcome to my city hope you both enjoyed your time here
We really did! There’s so many reasons to be back soon too 👀
I love Liverpool
Karolina seems more confident in the videos from when she started. You can tell when she’s happy, her eyes sparkle and she smiles so much. You look a great couple. 😊
Oh thank you! I must admit that when we stared filming I was terrified with the thought that so many people will possibly watch me and judge me for whatever reason haha - I believe it's just not super natural to simply "put yourself out there" but with time, you get used to it 🥰 Now myself and Jay, we want to be as authentic and real as possible because only then you can truly get to know us!
Glad you enjoyed it here. All the best !
Thanks for watching! We had such a great day out in Liverpool :)
Im so glad you enjoyed your visit to Liverpool (my birthplace) i hope you both return.
We've such a great time indeed Mark :)
Hi Jay and Karolina 👏👏Thank you for sharing this wonderful video with us ❤ I have many classmates from Liverpool 😂love their “Liverpodian”accent 😂
Our pleasure! It was such a fun day out! 🎶 Haha yes, the accent is way different compared to other parts of the country 😬
Hi Jay congratulations on the video you made 😄
Hi Karolina you are fantastic as always😘
The phrase "happy as Larry" is a colloquial expression meaning extremely happy or content. It is primarily used in British and Australian English.
The exact origin of the phrase is uncertain, but there are a couple of theories:
I'm glad you enjoyed my city. ❤ It is a very vibrant and friendly city, ❤ We are always up for a party and a laugh.
It really is! And we could have definitely feel great energy of the people too 🥳🥳
So glad you enjoyed our lovely city .. just thought I would help you with the way we pronounce some of what you spoke about. The Liver birds pronounced l(eye)ver, and the Cavern club pronounced cav (like have) ern club.😊
Thanks Mike! I've had quite a few comments on this 😂
i just randomly found this vid on youtube, what an awesome one. Thank you
You're very welcome! And we hope you'll stay with us a bit longer :) Thanks for watching!
I love Liverpool especially shopping and eating out,I live Cheshire so not long on the train . People give it a bad press there are scumbags in every town and city but people of Liverpool and Northerns are so friendly 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍
I HAVE BEEN THERE...LOVE IT EVERYWHERE...ITS MY SECOND TIME....
Liverpool has so much to offer and we truly love how it was bursting with the energy, music and culture 😍✌️
I THINK ITS VERY MUCH RATED
So do we 🥳🥳🥳
The Liverpool Building is pronounced Lie - ver.
Enjoy!
glad you enjoy our city
We really did! So many things to do 😍 Would need to definitely come back again soon!
Such a lovely city, with people to match. You fitted right in!
How cute! Thank you so much! We really enjoyed that trip 😍
I wouldn't say that Liverpool is underrated. Infact as one of the most visited cities in Britain, its very much rated.
You must have visited on a week day as those ferries are packed with tourists on the weekends. Hope you had a great time, I miss my home city!
Great spot Tommy :) It was a Thursday I believe! We try to avoid weekends for filming because it's always BUUUUUUSY 😂
Great video guys, but there’s so much more to see than just the centre. Especially in the summer, Speke is lovely, as is Kirby and Old Swan, all friendly places with plenty to see and do.
Speke and Kirkby 🤣
Hope you both had a great time in my home city. There is an incredible audio recording from a BBC reporter on the streets of the city centre during the blitz narrating the attack as St Luke's church is hit - it's incredibly moving and a great piece of social history. Check it out if you can find it online.
Just found it! Incredibly moving and insightful 🙏 Thank you so much for sharing!
Another great video
For some reason I've never been to Liverpool but it looks superb.
As always you two are such lovely guides 💋
You can spend a week Liverpool and not see it all.
That's so true! There's so much to see and do and we do have a great reason to be back soon 😬😬
The area you were in when you asked where you are in is called Liverpool One. Is was built for the 2008 capital of culture.
Yes, and it was so visible - everywhere someone was singing, painting, performing... Not to mention exhibitions or shops :)
Very nice looking room in the new hotel. Been to Liverpool as part of tour seen the Beatles area of town. Would loved to seen those cathedrals.
I'll let them know you liked the new hotel! Yes it was a bit of a shame with the main cathedral but we got to see a very unique one too!
Can't be much of a fan if you don't know how to say Liver Bird. 😂
You should have popped into the White Star pub .... Lots of Titanic & other White Star line shipping memorabilia in there .
The Philharmonic Pub is a listed building & the toilets are original to the building & are also protected .
Seems like we have got an amazing recommendation for the next time 😬👍 I loved the design of the toilets at the Philharmonic dining rooms!
Welcome back anytime! Glad you had a good time in my city! :)
Yes! Thank you! We always try to pay a visit to the most iconic spots at first but we definitely need to come back to Liverpool to finally being able to enter the main Cathedral + have a drink at the Mathew Street 🥳 Any other recommendations from the local?!
@@JayandKarolina Oh, well I'd recommend Ma Boyle's, great old pub!
hi again Jay the 3 graces are named after the mythological Greek Three Graces who were the goddesses of charm, beauty and creativity, and some look at them as guarding the city, it is also said that should one of the LIVERBIRDS disappear then Liverpool would cease to exist
Inside the Anglican Cathedral, You will find an old classic red phone box. Its there as the its architect and designer also was the architect of the cathedral.
Thank you for sharing this tidbit :) We'll definitely pay attention to it when we manage to visit!
That dock where "the ship is parked" is a graving dock - a dry dock for accessing the underwater part of a vessel.
I didn't know that was a thing - very interesting thanks!
Anyone visiting Liverpool -- take a bus/cab/train to Lark Lane (St Michaels stop) and have something to eat/drink and take a walk around Sefton Park. I live just off the park, you won't regret it. It's about 8-10 minutes in a cab, it's not far at all (£8-12)
Are you the kid who mugs tourist on the park kid ?

Great suggestion! Thanks 🥳
My city looks fab ❤
Thank you for visiting my city, hope you had a great time😁
Our pleasure! We truly did!!!
Btw it feels so nice that you've been watching us from Indonesia! Had such a great time spent there last summer!!!
@@JayandKarolina Please let me know whenever you're coming back! I'd be more than happy to show you around. YNWA!
The Metropolitan or Catholic Cathedral is known locally as Paddy's Wigwam. It's the older of the 2. The Anglican was completed later
Thank you for all the insights Dorothy :) Super useful!
Ha, thats a statue of Billy Fury, but it does kind of look like Elvis.
I was wondering why there was a statue of Elvis randomly in Liverpool - thought maybe because Liverpool has a strong music culture - I had no idea 😂
@@JayandKarolina Halfway to Paradise is his most famous song. Quite nice.
After your videos you have earned yourselves a Subbie
glad to see your video today. im a liverpool girl. and happy that you enjoyed are great city.
Thank you so much for watching :)
Hope you have time in Liverpool. Welcome to Merseyside
We had such a blast that day! Loved the energy of Liverpool which was bursting with music, great people, cultural spots and amazing food options! 🎉🎶
Definitely had a good time! Great place and great people :)
The Philharmonic Pub is a legend in Liverpool...its near clubland ..so we used to drink there in the 60's before we went to the Cabin club...also Paul MCartney did a gig in the large lounge area about 5 or so years back
That's why we were so amazed to have our lunch there! The place holds so much history! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
Fun fact, the Metropolitan church is named locally as Paddys Wigwam, due to it being shaped like a teepee and Liverpools Irish connection :)
Loving your enthusiasm but maybe some background knowledge and pronunciations would be worth accessing.. Live-er-birds..Cav-Earn. Elvis? research Billy Fury... but thanks for your positivity and complimentary commentary.. glad you had a nice visit 😎
Thank you! I've been corrected plenty of times so I've already learnt the exact pronunciation - it's just a shame you can't edit it on the video 😜
@JayandKarolina thank for answering my comment, us Scousers can be somewhat protective of our heritage but we also Love our visitors to react proactively about 'the greatest city' on planet earth.... yeah, we're also modest 🤣... keep up the good work 👏 👏👏
Those seats on the top deck are designed to float for folk to cling onto in the unlikely event that the boat sinks btw.
Thanks for the info! It would be so interesting to try it out one day haha
largest in uk anglican cathedral not just england i grew up next to it 7 th largest in world
Is it?! We had no idea to be honest 😬 It was a pity we couldn't go inside on that day because I'm sure we would have seen how big it is!
Good video, hope you enjoyed our city ❤
We truly did! Thank you so much for watching :)
On 19.20 the red building used to be called the probe a record shop I used to go the in 70s 80s get my records a quite famous singer used to serve us before he was famous but still very scary lol his name is Pete burns
It stunk of weed too 😂
My dad used to shop there, apparently Pete always had something snotty to say about whatever particular record you were buying (unless he actually liked it obviously). It became something of a trend for him and his mates to shop there just to hear his pearls of wisdom 😂
I live in Liverpool
Should have gone to bootle strand mate
🤣
😂😂😂
Is it a bad or a nice place? 😂
Sadly the pla e that time fogot @@JayandKarolina
you mentioned that Liverpool imported a lot of stuff😀 at one point half of the trade IN THE WORLD came through the docks
Lovely 🌹 video
Was definitely expecting to see a visit to Anfield, but maybe next time.
And Everton? 😊 One of my cousins supports Liverpool, his brother supports Everton. Don't ask 😂
I'm a Liverpool FC fan so I had been at the stadium before and was thinking to do it in this video but then thought that the tour around Anfield would be a completely different video topic on its own 😬 Could have shown the surrounding though!
Great to watch your reaction to my city.
Glad you enjoyed it! It probably gives you a completely different perspective :)
I live about 200 yards away from the Cathedral. I live on Upper Parliament street in a georgian flat.
My bedroom view is of the back side of the cathedral.
Not a bad view to wake up to ay!
@@JayandKarolina - not so good if you want a lie in on a Sunday morning. The bells, the bells.
Great video guys, and glad you both enjoyed the experience in our city.
If nobody has previously mentioned it in the comments it's pronounced "Lie-ver" 😁 👍
As in the Liver birds you mentioned 😁
Thanks for sharing! I did make this pronunciation mistake but the funny thing is that I had no clue how to say it correctly 😅😅 Glad you still enjoyed watching our video!
yeheeeeey, another day another vlog 🤍
