I met Fred Berry when I was young at a cheerleader competition in LA, he took my pack of Plain M & M's from me while I was eating them, but I didn't mind you know because it was Rerun. He was a very nice & down to earth kind of guy...I was sad to hear he Passed away so young, I will never forget him...RIP Fred Berry...
My mom just showed me this show a couple of days ago, the show looked like so much fun to be apart of, everybody very looked very happy. I wasn't expecting the jokes to be funny, but they were very funny. RIP Fred Berry.
lol dude these were simpler times. If you ever actually sit and watch full episodes (tons of them here on UA-cam) you will hear some of the most brutal fat jokes between the rerun and Shirley characters. No one got offended and demanded to have shows cancelled in those days. TONS of funny stuff in these shows compared to the boring crap that is produced today.
Yes I must say that I'm disgusted by fat jokes and I have been a person who develops and instructs programs for Ford performance and athleticism and body sculpting is the easiest and cheapest form of being what I dislike calling a personal trainer. And it also is for the most shallow reasons. But it also afforded me the ability and the honor pleasure of being part of people who are obese especially obese females without a athletic background. Bar none by far they were the most successful and dedicated clients and people who were a great pleasure. I would throw the money to the Wynn literally and although I had a very high level of studies and in pragmatic experience especially in combat sports in football and I did incredibly well at 3:54 and I have applied the personal training angle and my ability to be an instructor of human performancebut it was an honor to be part of the obese females who in one sense they would be a piece in the masses by trying to get their bodies into a more acceptable a form which is more acceptable to The superficial people and gyms are full of superficiality. It is disgusting. But in another sense although it was seemingly appeasing the message and also help them alleviate or escape a lot of the ridicule and there are so many mental health wounds which stem from the shallowness of everyday common society and you see it here for instance they were talking about there were plenty of fat jokes and nobody got canceled or this or that or maybe they should have but then on the other side of that coin rerun and surely would not have been inside our hearts if it were for that. I heard Shirley died and awful death and I loved her God I mean I would move right in with her and rerun I swear to my house for free.
Rerun just kind of got typecasted in the "cheerful fat guy who can dance" role. He did other acting. he played a pimp named Sugar Pimp in this movie called Vice Squad from 1982. Very brief role, but it was the only time I saw him in something that wasn't wholesome family entertainment.
He did find his niche. He just didn't know how popular and well liked he was despite his size. I know he suffered from low self esteem. They tend to think nobody likes them because they are fat. But that's far from the truth. They have more talent than most. As far as I'm concerned, he is a legend today in the black community.
A lot of Rerun's turmoil came from the fact that he was typecasted in that jolly fat dancing guy gimmick. But he really didnt do himself any favors by embracing that role so much. I mean, he LITERALLY kept the "hey hey hey" from the What's Happening TV show. He changed his middle name to Rerun legally. He wore the red beret everywhere. He was LITERALLY the character Rerun on and off camera.
RIP ReRun I am sure you are in Heaven! And you are making God and all the saints and angels laugh every day! We love you ReRun and we miss you my brother! Thanks for all the laughs!!!!
He actually played the character of rerun for 4 seasons. Remember he came back for what's happening now. He was on the show for the 1st season. Can't believe they didn't mention that because that show ran for 3 seasons
Only if he gave his life to Jesus. Did he get born again like the bible said. Was he baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Did he live a life like the bible said. If you want to know about his soul or yours look on UA-cam and do a search for pastor Gino Jennings.

he was a real man, did all his stunts, how many actors besides jackie chan (japanese kung fu actor) does there own stunts nowadays. I'm surprised he never elevated himself to do dramatic roles.
It appeared very low budget but the acting was phenomenal, even from the non-regulars. Sometimes they wore the same clothes for two show in a row. The walls were made to look dingy to add to the disparaging stereotypes. They do allow them to look beautiful though. The clothes, hair, jewelry, dance moves. This show was great.
I loved watching Good Times as a kid, and my favorite character was Rerun. I even had the shows poster on my bedroom wall. Growing up in the 70s was awesome.
technically your right but at the same time they are right also. No locking = no breakdance and dont forget they had a guy in the group doing the robot.
SiriusMined the robot was developed during locking, and later evolved into pop locking. the lockers were a group of dancers that locked during the 1970's, long before the advent of breakdancing.
Rest In Peace Rerun, but I have one small problem. In this clip he keeps saying the catchphrase "Hey Hey Hey," but he didn't use that in "What's Happening." That was Heywood "Dwayne" Nelson's.

What's happening actually stopped because the network didn't want to give the cast a 2nd raise after they held out for more. It's 3rd season was rated 29-respectable indeed. Berry would die one year after this. His wife contests it may have been murder.
Wow, the definition of being type-cast. He needed someone to help him shake off Rerun. Unfortunately, it seems Fred Berry’s identity became entangled with his Rerun character.
