This video was moving! I, too, am going through withdrawal, and I just shared it with my father, who is a 30-year army command Sargent major whom I believe is going through the same thing.
Thank you. I too have lost so much. I have been off 16 months of Xanax and Valium. Prescribed 60mg of valium, tapered so fast by psychiatrist that I seized and ended being admitted to hospital with swelling on brain. It took me almost 4 years to taper off. I am still bedbound for about 17 hours a day. This way for over 3 years. I still can't walk. I know I will recover. It's just very hard.
Thank you. 😭 I was treated for PTSD for 30 years on benzodiazepines from the doctors. I have many diagnosed and disabled but have no ideas how to go about documentation. I was cold Turkey through 3 pregnancies and no idea how many times. Before 5-6 years ago slow tapered by psychiatrist that was my prescriber. I am 6 years off benzodiazepines.. lost 30 years of my life. I had no idea what was going on.. till now. I had started drinking in 1986 with Benzodiazepines to get through ptsd abuse trauma. I have 17 years clean and sober in the 12 step programs.. but at 10 years I had a pre stroke from benzodiazepines talking as prescribed. In recovery. I’m so sad I lost decades. Sharing your story with family and professionals and military friends. I still have no idea which are real disabilities or Benzo damage.
Hi Mark, I'm in the bwc fb group and saw you live on zoom. I rewatched it and wanted to ask you when you say you got down to 5 mg valium and you had to change to microtaper 0,001 mg/ day, did you do this lineal all the way down to 0?
32 years ago was put on benzos for severe anxiety, but had undiagnosed hashimotos. Was pulled off 2 yrs ago. Still sick. Now drinking. Life is a mess. My therapist won't talk about paradoxical effect.
I talk about alcohol in the video - It replaces (kind of) the benzos and like the benzos, can be dangerous in withdrawal. It might be really difficult, but you HAVE to get off the alcohol. I'm rooting for you!
To find a physician/prescriber to help you taper can be a challenge for sure. All the information and peer support you could ever want is at your fingertips though!
I live in upstate NY as well. I would love to have a friend that lives nearby that can relate with what I've gone tru. If anyone lives in upstate NY, leave a comment so we can talk
Excellent truth. Your testimony blesses many with hope. Thank you for sharing hope and your truth.

Hang in there! Patience, patience, patience...
How are you feeling now
Brilliant hostess too - only talked when absolutely necessary and just let the man talk. I too am tapering.

Sadly, your story is all too common. All we can do is to keep moving forward.
Outstanding!

A lot of us simply don't have the resources to access this kind of help.
