- I am making a mold for use in a UV lamp for UV resin. I am testing out the translucent Lets Resin Silicone Rubber.

Say--you make a separate raised prong stone setting is there a way to block areas you don't want encased in silicone? I am thinking about building a mold only 6/8 ths around to fill with Precious metal clay
HI ! so for this example I should have stuck the rings to a tape designed for resin. They call is non sticky tape because it will hold your item in place but when you peel it off it doesnt leave residue. For the setting you mention I think I would use either a tape (as mentioned above ) or potentially something you can mold around the areas that you dont want as part of the silicone mold. Maybe something like a clay (polymer) or perhaps hot glue .. those would be things that could be easily removed. Not sure if I am hitting the mark ?? Let me know ..

SayvI print flat a say 4 prong round for a 4mm stone i would need to 3D print flat open places would be resin printed as a negative e.g., the open areas would print with a round peg leaving 2mm of space to pour silicone. As the dried and uv set slicone i can place precious metal clay into the prong area without compromise the setting will have a peg leaving the opening see thru. Objective being placing metal clay in sunken silicone molds flexible dried then wrapped around a mandrel see through design elements in place so on the computer all open spaces unheld by wire will be pegged
