    Been waiting on this series for a while now; well done terry 👍

    At 32:06, because the battlecruiser hull design actually is not intended for having 2 forward twin-barreled turrets on the foredeck. Furthermore, the gun actually blocked the view of the bridge

    Really refreshing to finally see someone playing this with metric measurements, and not the god awful inches, lol.

      Well, it's a German Navy series, so.... if I get around to doing UK or US, then it'll be inches - and I'll have to double-check to make sure I've got things right all the time ;)

    Love that storytelling that you do in the beginning.makes it feel like you are part of the crew.

      Thanks! I wanted to do something different with this game, and also try to more cinematic editing. This first series is a bit of an experimentation for me still, also in terms of style and pacing.
      I'll be wrapping up the recording, and then I'll start the next one on the other channel, which is the future home for story-driven gaming. I'll announce it here when it starts, but feel free to head over to youtube.com/@StoriesandStrategieswithTerry already 😁

    Echelon wing turrets layout is a way to go with these hulls. It gives you 6 gun forward/back firepower and full firepower broadside... why don't ppl utilize it?

    in 1910s, the german ships hull is not built for your design. Note that both bridge and rear tower have range finder (the horizontal rod). But, after you install main gun on barbet, the turrets block the view of range finders, randering your ship useless in real case scenario.

    At 34:58, the B turret has a very bad firing angle. The bridge just blocked the sight of the B turret.

    I think i know where you got the inspirationfor those videos, from Stealth17, isn't it? His videos are fun

      I haven't actually watched Stealth17 yet, although he's been recommended. I did watch a lot of Brother Munroe's videos, from the Drachinifel collab, and thought that the pacing (and exposure to the games wtf moments) calls for some editing.
      The storytelling / documentary style itself is something I've already used in HOI4 intros for a long time, that was inspired by Wolfpack345, who I can really recommend

    I'm surprised ship name suggestions have not been pouring in. Are you able to see stats of operational ships from other nations?

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  Рік тому +3

      You can see the stats in battle, once your crew has identified the ship. Unfortunately, and not historically accurate, I don't think I can see e.g. what calibre of guns the British have on their classes of ships.
      The whole design - counter-design - counter-counter-design game was a big part of naval construction.

    What do you think of desinging one big dreadnought flagship ?

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  Рік тому +1

      Excellent idea. I was initially put off a bit by the slow speed of the dreadnought hulls, but I think doing just one is a nice touch. SMS Kaiser incoming 🙂

    I both love and hate this game! It truly brings conflicting feelings in me, at it's core it's fun! But man the last two patches have been rough to say the least, the new gun penetration changes bringing ludicrously high penetration values and reintroducing a older bug that makes gun lock up and refuse to fire sometimes when the dreaded "Ladder aiming" becomes stuck.
    I still love to watch how other players design ships though! Now as for the video itself! I found it a bit surprising that you designed a Battlecruiser with 26.2% Fore Weight Offset. Was it because you wanted to make the ship more astatically pleasing or where you trying to reduce maybe the pitch and roll but sacrifice Fore weight for it? Since Fore and aft weight increases really affect a lot of different stats values, especially accuracy! For Heavy Cruisers you can sometime get away with a lot of offset but for capital ships it can be pretty brutal with higher caliber guns! (Edit : I'm dumb and didn't realize the starting fleet was fully AI generated)
    Edit : One thing to note the missing "Naval Funds" in the top right is also a bug that was introduced this patch, it was supposed to be hotfixed but it might not apply to every player yet. Hopefully it gets fixed for everyone next patch! (hopefully very soon) Not being able to see available money is quite rough since it can lead to stealth bankruptcy.
    Edit 2 : Nevermind I'm dumb I just noticed the starting fleet is actually AI generated , honestly not too bad for the AI all things considered! You built a beautiful BC class in the Derfflinger ( I know the front section is a bit finicky to work with for Germany early Battlecruisers hulls but you did an amazing job there!)

      I'm aware of the issues the game has, which is why this series is going to have a pretty different style from my usual ones. More story-driven, more heavily edited. That'll hopefully allow me to gloss over some of the glaring pacing issues the game can have, and I can also "story-explain away" some of the weirder occurrences, bugs etc.
      Now, about the starting fleet. That is, in fact, not AI generated. But for story purposes, I didn't want to start out with a full set of latest-tech ships, but instead have a somewhat ageing fleet from the past decade, as an incoming Admiral.
      I'm fully aware of the shortcomings of those ships, but if you look at the class names, you'll actually realise that these are, in fact, historical designs from the imperial German fleet between 1900 and 1910 (or as close as I could get them). I've spent a Sunday going through the stats and photographs to set this up, and I can tell you, getting the en echelon design to work was fiddly.
      These ships will struggle probably, but that's intended. It'll be my challenge to decide if I want to refit, scrap, and where to invest in new ships.

      @deatscart Рік тому +1

      @@FunandGameswithTerry Wow! You actually went above and beyond with your explanation here! I'm really looking forward to this one! With a heavier emphasis on lore / story related playthrough it should be very entertaining. I never though of doing this, designing my starting ship to be a bit older , it's actually brilliant. I do think however the Derfflinger BC class will do quite well overall it's a good all-rounder with a damn decent broadside.

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  Рік тому

      I've actually recorded a short "episode zero", where I was explaining the approach, but decided against it in the end. More fun to let people explore.
      I don't have a lot of experience with the game, I've spent some hours testing on 1.0.9, just so I don't trip over everything, but that's also how it went for "real" ship designers, you never know how it'll work out until the ship gets at sea, and into an actual battle 🙂
