    German battleship Kaiser Wilhelm II in Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts is beautiful

      The Kaiser is pleased. We shall see if they are fished in time for a potential conflict with the British or the French.

    I like the way you carry the narrative, it makes you to immerse yourself in the video. quality video like always :3

      Thanks! The game can be a bit slow and pop-up heavy at times, and some things that happen are a bit sketchy, so I'm just using it as a vehicle for storytelling. Glad you like it

    I just love the intros you do for this series, it feels like a documentary.

      That's the concept I'm going with. The game has some rough edges, bugs and definitely some pacing issues, so I'm actually editing a fair amount out, and try to spin a coherent story around what's happening.
      A lot of videos I've seen on UAD focus too much on the shortcomings, such that at some point you have to ask yourself, why even play / watch it.

    Great series and a very good game. I did see UAD videos in my recommended but I would be like yea someday I'll watch one of these. The Kaiser Class looks amazing, well balanced and featuring great firepower. I know you said the Baltic was a training ground as well as a haven for ships to repair and crews to rest, but since maybe (and most likely) you'll be fighting the Russians, I'd suggest maybe having a third one built just to keep the Russian Baltic Fleet very limited in it's activities.

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  Рік тому +3

      The "Baltic training ground" was actually a riff on Scheer's book on WW1, which I'm reading at the moment - this was something they actually did, after intimidating the Russians sufficiently to keep them in port.
      The game still has some issues, but the devs are working on it quite actively. That's the reason for the format - I can gloss over some issues, or lengthy periods of nothing really happening except repetitive popups.
      We'll see how the political situation develops. France's decision to get involved in Belgium militarily has driven a big wedge between them and the British, which makes a conflict against both simultaneously less likely (but still possible). I might start refitting some of the older ships if there aren't signs of immediate conflict next episode, since they're really quite dated (I've intentionally built them that way).

      @@FunandGameswithTerry Historically speaking, the Russians could have challenged the German Navy and there were some clashes between them during the First World War, but yes, the Russians for most of the war spent their time in port. And in that time I think they were still rebuilding after their humiliating defeat against Japan in Tsushima.
      Yea the political situation still doesn't look good for the Kaiser, but the recent incident makes cooperation between the Napoleonic rivals impossible. Since also in that time, both France and Britain still didn't fully like each other but cooperated nonetheless. The older pre-dreadnoughts will most likely be used as coastal defense?

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  Рік тому +1

      For now, the Nassau-class ships are the core of the battle line, until the new dreadnoughts and battlecruisers arrive. At that point, they'll probably become second-rate line ships, and eventually, they'll be scrapped, probably towards the end of the decade. Coastal defence is a good position for them, especially if I can do some refits, put some additional plating on them and some more modern equipment.

    • @COMMANDER-wm9vr
      @COMMANDER-wm9vr Рік тому

      @@FunandGameswithTerry The Nassau class is indeed still useful until the end of the decade by which they will be obsolete. Pre-dreadnoughts have no more use in the battle line; they are too slow, zero firepower compared to the modern dreadnoughts, and less armor than a modern dreadnought. Coastal defense is the only viable option for them, or the scrapper.

    Personally I would've kept the big tripod superstructure and have had a 15cm secondary battery but I'm not the one playing

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  Рік тому +2

      Even with 150mm twin secondary turrets, they wouldn't have fit. And the casemates don't have the greatest firing arcs, and are comparatively heavy. I quite liked the setup, but it wouldn't have fit the secondary loadout I wanted on a German battleship.

    Can you make Bismarck with triple barrels?

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  Рік тому +2

      Not sure if I'm going to run this series for that long, going to need to reach 1930s tech, but I've actually built Bismarck for the trailer, and yes, turret tech goes up to quad barrel, so there should be some interesting designs down the road.

      Yeah, I might do a separate "extreme designs" series at some point. This one is meant to try and be a bit more serious / story-driven 🙂
