I'm happy to hear you decided to keep Trinity ! She picked you guys for a reason ,she saw the love you guys had to give . Hoping things keep going good between her and Cody .
PS you’ve made a new subscriber here and I too am binging all your episodes. Plus even though we’re seniors, hubby and I will be truck camping this year. Kids like you have inspired us to still dream ❤
Trinity is the real deal. Thank you for opening your hearts to her. She will never forget what y'all did for her ❤ All the best in finding good gigs and making enough scratch to get to Alaska. Appreciate you guys being real with the content. Cheers
Since you adopted Trinity, I'm subscribing. I just found your channel when Trinity found you in the gate-guarding video, and I was touched by the love you showed her. since she is staying, so am I. Safe Journey!
Aww man, you guys deciding to take Trinity in and let her join the family makes my heart full. She came into your lives for a reason and I'm glad she's going to get to stay with you guys!
My heart went on a rollercoaster. Thank you for giving that sweet girl a chance. She needs someone to just give her a chance to love and be loved. I can’t thank you enough, now I need to finish ugly crying.
Our hearts were very much on that same rollercoaster that day. I'm glad we were able to convey that just a little bit through this video. Trinity is awesome and is integrating into our family very well. Here's a tissue: 🤧 -J
People have dogs and cats, dogs and hamsters, etc..There’s no reason you can’t have a dog and a rabbit. Trinity is adorable and seems really well behaved. I applaud you for doing the right thing.👏
Thanks so much for the comment. It's always tough because it's not always the right thing to adopt a pet. Sometimes a pet isn't right for the family or a family isn't ready to take on the responsibility of taking proper care of an animal. In those cases it's better for them to put the animal in the hands of those who can find the animal a forever home. In our case, Trinity has acclimated well and she is getting along with Cody which is all we ever could have asked for. 🙂
That’s just not true… some dogs are just prey driven and you can’t just teach that out. Also it totally depends on the age of introduction, etc. at 2+yrs Trinity is far too old if it’s not in her nature. My dog, who loves everyone and everything, will kill anything smaller than a cat - I would not even trust her with a cat alone.
And some dogs which are prey driven, like my current dog that looks like an older version on your " new dog" , was trained to treat all the animals in the home as friendly ( cats) and everything outside as predators. This was in Florida and my dog( which belonged to my landlord at the time, killed raccoons and possums which came at night into the yard and into the garage with the other dog. But after my dog was discarded my the landlord, my now is a good service dog. Patient training with animals can correct " bad behaviors " .
This is awesome thank you for giving Trinity a chance she seems like a perfect , super wonderful dog , I feel she is meant to be in your lives . I don't believe in coincidences, having that gate job for just a short time and her being there was supposed to happen. I love watching you work on your older rv and giving it some love , so many other channels get popular and the next thing ya know their getting new rvs and such all the time and bragging about em and all and I don't care about all the new stuff that I ain't never going to get . Thank for such great content.
Thanks so much for the encouragement! We don't believe in coincidences either, we were just trying to figure out if we were meant to be with each other for those 12 days or for the rest of her life. Looks like it's the latter. 😁 As to channels getting new RVs, I hope we don't lose you if we ever "get popular" (a long way to go for that! 😂) and upgrade. This RV has good bones but it has a repair list that continues to grow so we do occasionally discuss whether or not we need to "move" to a different one at some point. I guess all that to say that we will always strive to stay real, no matter what our RV circumstance may be. -J
I was crying and hoping you were going to take Trinity with you. I was so hoping the shelter was full😂 and yes! it was!! And when you said you would see how it would work I was so happy but still crying 😂. I think her and Cody will be great friends!🥰
That's a great dog to have around not only as a friend to do stuff with, she is super well behaved and will warn you if anyone is around the camper. If you are hiking she will be alert to any treats, you'll need that in Alaska... you won't regret having her around!
We're working hard on training her to not get super distracted on walks. She's been super good but on walks in new areas its like we don't exist and she will pull like crazy. So we're getting a youtube education on training and working really hard with her because, like you, we think she'll be great on the trails. -J
@@OpenRoading Leash training is one of the easiest things to instill in most dogs. Two 30 minute training sessions a day for a week will almost always be sufficient. I recommend a training collar or choke chain during the sessions but not during the rest of the day. Start with a long 15' leash and after a few days go to a shorter one. Pick a spot and walk to it whether she wants to or not. If she races ahead of you turn and go the other direction and surprise her. Try to fool her when she isn't looking at you. The idea is for her to pay attention to what you are doing and not what she wants to do.
Just looking at how Trinity reacts to leashes, collars & car rides, she's been in a family and needs you both. That's why she chose you guys. Appears as though she's had a litter, so be sure shes been fixed or that will pose a whole new set of challenges. Glad she adopted you!.
Yes, she certainly has had some puppies but I *think* we are now far enough down the road to know there aren't any more on the way 🤞🏻. That would be a fun thing to wake up to. 😂 We know she's not fixed so eventually we'll have to get her into the "cone of shame" to make sure we don't end up with a bunch of little Tinitys. -J
You will want to pick up either baby diapers you can cut out for her tail or the dog diaper to put mini pads in for her menses.. So you don’t have spots to clean up behind her in your camper. If she’s not fixed then she will have her menses too. 😊
My dog was behind a really good fence in our yard for just a little while and when we went out there, there was a big dog out there with her laying on the ground. Not sure how he got in. We took her right then to have her fixed. Didn’t want puppies and the male dog was very big and a worry about our dog being able to deliver really big puppies. Good luck.
I just found your channel and first saw the gate guarding episode. Then I had to watch the follow up. I had a gut feeling Trinity found her new family. I understand your concern about the rabbits, but where there’s a will there’s a way. And honestly, I wonder if even there was space in the shelter, if you could have surrendered her. She seems like a fantastic dog, with a lot of love to give, and I’m happy you are all together.
Yeah, I'm not sure we could have surrendered her. As you saw Kalyn was really struggling and the dogs there didn't sound....happy. It wasn't how we wanted our time with Trinity to come to a close. The fact that it was full just made the decision a whole lot easier. -J
Ditto - I found my new people! And I do rescues and I know not every situation is right - but what is right is trying and if it isn’t right, if finding the right home. Who knows what tomorrow will bring ❤ Also - I suggest a harness (especially one you can put an AirTag in) over a collar they can slip out of … my cats and the neighbors stray I have put them in as secondary protection
2 years ago an old boxer showed up at our back door and wouldn't leave - he was so sweet and happy just to get any kind of attention. We called animal control and had him taken to the shelter so his owner could find him if they were looking. When his hold was over we went and picked him up to adopt him because he seemed so happy with us. He had a lot of medical problems so we couldn't finalize the adoption until he was well so we fostered him until then. 6 weeks into our foster he developed bloat and couldn't be saved due to his age. Despite the short time he was with us, it was devastating. I am so glad you decided to adopt Trinity and give her a better quality of life.
I just found your channel when you were gate keeping and found Trinity. I was hoping you guys kept her and was so happy to see that you decided to do so. She will bring you guys so much joy and love. Since I just found your channel I didn't know what kind of people you guys were but the fact that you let that dog hang out with you at the gate, cared for her, tried to find her a home and when you couldn't find one you decided to keep her... Let me know that you two are good people with compassion. so, I subscribed and look forward to joining the four of you on your journey.
Thank you for understanding when we weren't sure whether or not we could keep her. That means the world that you saw our compassion even when we weren't sure if we could/should adopt. -J
1st, prayers for Cody. You guys are on a great journey. I binged a few videos and watched some of your ups an downs. Im so glad you decieded to allow Trinity to stay with you. She chose you. I subscribed.
Thank you so much. Very much appreciate the prayers. He's doing pretty well all things considered. We're about a month and a half past that appointment and he continues to take his meds and be a great part of the family. We cherish every day we have with him. Yeah - Trinity certainly chose us but while I'm not a "dog person" I'm coming around to see that we're the real lucky ones. -J
I had a red healer that became the best friend of my lop ear bunny . The bunny would back into the cleaning station and the healer would lick her ears . We trained the dog by just saying be gentle . It was a beautiful relationship.
It's funny to us watching Trinity try to make friends with Cody. She's trying hard but she just doesn't realize that her slobbery licking is making Cody run away. But she keeps trying. Maybe they'll cozy up eventually. 🤗 -J
New Subscriber. We need to start binge watching your videos. Hubby is curious about all these jobs you guys talk about😅 how easy or hard is it to get some temp jobs while Rving?! We are looking for our first rig and hoping to buy one asap🙏🏼
Beet Harvest and Gate Guarding are pretty easy to grab - although gate guarding has a bit of onboarding process (more on that in the video before this one). Campground jobs and such can be a little more tricky to find the one that is worth your time. Look for workcamping facebook groups! -J
Y’all brought me to tears! Thank you for saving Trinity and giving her a loving home. I know she will be a great fur baby for you and your rabbits. 💕❤️💕❤️💕
Thank you so much for keeping Trinity! If you can you should get her spayed, it will keep her healthier in the long run. You are awesome for keeping her!
I was introduced to your channel on the previous video. Your decision to keep Trinity is what got me to subscribe. She chose you. Give her all the love she deserves.
Recently found your channel. Only saw the last video of the gate guarding and now watching this video. Thanks for keeping Trin, i was praying that yall would! You guys seem like great people. New subscriber and watcher here! Safe travels.
I’m glad you kept her! Dogs like Trinity are not a dime a dozen! We have more animals than we care to have but when one finds us and needs us and we can’t find a good option for them elsewhere, we figure out how to work them in. We travel with 4 dogs and 6 cats. We have a kitten that we are taking care of as well and it is likely he will stay with us…but we will see.
Oh wow! That's a lot of animals to travel with! I'm pretty sure we're almost maxed out but I am grateful for the pets that we have. I agree, Trinity is one of a kind. -J
We took a huge gamble on a street dog we found and she’s been the best dog ever. Thank you for taking in Trinity but also for being realistic about dog ownership and how it fits into your life. It’s not easy.
With regards to Trinity and adoption I appreciate these comments more than any other. Anyone who says someone MUST adopt a dog without knowing all the circumstances should stop and take a breath. They are a huge responsibility and all of that has to be considered before saying yes. That said - we couldn’t be happier that she’s part of the family now. 🤗-J
I just found your channel and like your videos. So I will subscribe to your videos as long as you keep Trinity. Remember positive training positive results. That's how my wife and I train our puppers.
Oh she's fully part of the fam. Once we knew she was OK with Cody there was zero turning back. That was the only thing we were concerned about at the end. -J
So glad yall decided to keep Trinity. I subscribed for that reason also.. I suspect she showed up for a reason. I had some time off when we got our last rescue so I really got into training her. But thought I'd mention the best thing I taught her was the simplest. The look at me command. I forget who I watched that used that one. But it works.. Simply hold a treat treat rite in front of your nose. And tell her to look at me. And soon as she makes eye contact Reward her. Over and over and over. For days.. It makes everything else easier as she will always be looking to see what you might ask of her. Makes off lease walks a plessure as well. Recall her and treat over and over as well. If you do it enough you can call her back regardless of what's going on. It drills it into her mind. Oh and they understand hand signals way better then words. I used both. But I can hold up a figure which means sit while talking to someone and never skip a beat. And at a greater distance. I used index figure up for sit. Hand out palm down for lay down. And closed fist for stay. That was the simplest basics I could think up. Mines is barly food modavated I had to use cooked bacon. And just broke it into very tiny places. Make it fun for both of you. Good luck and have fun. Or you might also try a clicker. Look up clicker training. I did that as well for a while.
Haha! That's an idea. 😁 Honestly though we wouldn't have committed to Trinity if we weren't willing and prepared to take on the expenses that were required. If that means delaying other plans (which I don't believe it will at all) then that's what it means. I don't want to ask others foot the bill for our responsibility. -J
@@cherifroehling6593 @Minnesotabryan4933 I'll talk to Kalyn about it (as far as putting a more public link somewhere) but we are very careful on here because we don't want anyone to come away from our videos that we are asking for money - Especially since our first video was all about being broke and our current "season" is about raising $15K for Alaska. It's been our goal from the outset to document our journey of earning & saving money for Alaska and try to make income from UA-cam part of that equation through ads. We don't ever want people to ever get the impression that we expect anything from them other than hopefully earning a "Subscribe" from them along with the great community we can have in the comments! All that said, we have been blown away by the generosity of several who have sent us UA-cam SuperThanks or sent us a gift via Paypal. The community on here has just blown us away and we're in awe whenever someone says "Hey, I want to help." It's humbling and inspiring all at the same time. I honestly don't know how the SuperThanks on here works (although I do know that google takes a significant chunk of it in fees) but here's the Paypal link: paypal.me/openroading If you mark it as "Trinity" we'll use it for her, if you mark it for Alaska fund we'll put it in there. And if you don't send anything at all, you'll still be our amazing friends in the comments that we absolutely love. -J
I'm happy to see you chose to adopt Trinity, I've rescued so many dogs since I was a young kid and I would have had a hard time watching if you placed her in the shelter, I was forced to do that a time or two and I am on the high functioning autism spectrum so that is heart wrenching for me, best wishes for your journey towards Alaska that's my bucket list
I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for this comment. I believe you are one of the few who understand how sometimes, even though heart-wrenchingly hard, the right thing isn't always to adopt. For whatever reason: not a good fit with other pets, not financially stable, not enough space, the list goes on, sometimes the best you can do is try to get an animal in the hands of someone who can hopefully find the animal a good home. The "right" thing isn't always adopting, and I appreciate that you get it - even though in our world sometimes it's a hard thing to understand when you see other people making a decision you might not make. That aside - We are so happy that Trinity is part of our family now. We committed to her and she's bringing us smiles every day. -J
Dang New Here And In The Last Episode Im Glad I Watched Now Seeing You Guys And Your Pet Rabbit Cody Then Trinity Stole My Heart She Really Made The Episode Even Though I Know Its Your Everyday Real Life Comes To A Hard Decision But The Tears We All Have Shared With Yall. Thank You For Taking In That Angel Trinity Is A Good Name As Her Presence Will Bless Your Channel. This Is A New Beginning For You All Together! I Of Course Subscribed As To Support You Guys Should Start A Patrion Account So Your Subscribers Can Help With Cost For Trinity I Think It Would Go Over Well!
Thanks so much for this kind comment. We are always so encouraged by the thoughtful words people leave us here. With the internet as toxic as it can be, it's so refreshing to hear from good people. 🙂 When it comes to Patreon, when Kalyn and I started this series on raising money for Alaska we wanted to make it clear that we weren't asking people for money. Yeah, we were stuck financially when we released that first video, but it was our goal to dig ourselves out rather than put our burdens on other people. That, of course, hasn't stopped some amazing people from doing youtube superthanks or sending us a gift via paypal here and there, but we both feel like starting a Patreon or posting paypal links in the bio starts sending a mixed message. Behind the curtain, we are starting to see some income trickle in from ads on youtube which was our financial goal behind the channel - make money on views. Maybe someday we will add a feature where people can contribute but at least for now, we don't want to put our hand out. I hope that makes sense! -J
Y'all kept the pup, transparent about how you make money, share your expenses, and just show how things are truly on the road. Definitely subscribed and binge watching.
Not sure if this has already been covered: if Trinity sees the rabbit running, it can be a trigger to chase and catch. I'm in favor of what you're presently doing. Thank you for giving Trinity a chance.
Not mentioned, but we are 100% aware. So far she's been very good when Cody has hopped past, but both Kalyn and I are on high alert whenever there's fast motion by the rabbit just to be sure. -J
I am a full timer as well and you showed up in my feed with your last video. By not telling us about the dog or the job you made me follow you. Great looking dog. We just spent the summer in Alaska and Canada and are now resting for our next journey. You are going to love it! Destruction bay to Tok is 150 miles of bad roads. It is a 10 hour plus drive if you take it really slow. Your videos are put together really well, great editing and content.
I'm so glad you found us and I hope we provide future content that keeps you coming back. I can't promise this much of an emotional rollercoaster every time but we try to keep things light and fun. 😁 Thanks so much for the info on Alaska. We are just about to get into planning what we want to see and where we want to go so anything like that is super helpful. We've got last years milepost in our amazon cart to help us start and then we'll get the new one as soon as it comes out. -J
The pit in my stomach won’t let me wait to watch the rest of the videos to find out.. did you adopt her? I told our story on another video about our amazing experience with the pup who adopted us a little over two years ago… the one sleeping on my neck and snoring in my ear right now. :)
So sorry for the emotional rollercoaster. It was just as big of one for us. We seriously thought we had weeks to figure out if we were going to be able to integrate her with Cody but then when our gig ended suddenly we had to make a bunch of decisions all at once. We couldn't be happier to have her as part of the family. And you're dog sounds simply adorable. -J
I'm a new subscriber and watched your first gate guarding video because we have wondered about that in the past. I watched this video to see what you did with Trinity and I love that you gave her a chance. Thank you! ❤
Just discovered your channel this morning! Anything that has to do with travel and dogs always popped up on my feed. You've just got a new follower. Just subscribe. Congrats on your new family member. Trinity struck gold! ;)
I knew you would do the right thing whether you kept her or not. I’m really surprised at some of the comments you received. Your videos are fun, stay safe, you guys are the best! ❤️
I gotta be honest...while I was surprised by some, generally everyone has been super positive on here which has been such a blessing. I appreciate you understanding the right thing isn't always what's expected. -J
Tears are in my eyes when you announced you were keeping Trinity. She picked you and I am hoping you will have years of joy with her. A good dog is so fantastic and will make your life so much better. The only bad thing about a good dog is that they don't live as long as you do and you will never completely get over the loss of your buddy. But that pain is nothing compared to the joy she will give you. God bless you for making this decision.
Hi guys, new sub. I'm also born and raised in NY, Gouverneur, 30 miles north of Watertown. Now i live near Daytona Beach and I've enjoyed a couple of your videos already.
So your video just popped up and so I started watching it. Then the story of the dog started and I put my coffee down as my heart lowered in my chest. I could see that this pup has fallen in love with you and will always thank you for taking her as your family. Then you moved towards letting her go and she would have shut down on that moment. Thank God you Listened to your inner voice and let her in your heart. WTH Now I’m crying first thing in the am. TG we still have loving people out there.
@@OpenRoading We are animal lovers on this end and this little pup just has love in her eyes. I so hope all turns out and please know if not this house is hers. We do the Rv travels as well so we know what that’s like. Now we have full hookup’s here at our home so if things go south you and the animals are always welcome here and the pup will have a new home. 👍. Ocean city Maryland Eastern shore Happy New Year
I recognized immediately that you're not dog people. The rabbit was the first clue but the tone of voice and the attitude when you talked about Trinity was the clincher. Thanks for making the decision you did and not making me hate your guts and curse you. Some of us have strong opinions about how dogs are treated. I know it was tough, but you did good!
Kalyn is a full on animal person. 😂 She'd adopt everything in sight if she could. You're right on me...I'm not a dog person. I'm also very practical and so is Kalyn which is why we didn't want to make an emotional decision in adopting Trinity. We were happy to rescue her. We had fostered many rabbits with a rabbit rescue before, getting them adopted out and we thought we maybe could do the same for Trinity. But...she stole our hearts and so now she's part of the family and while I'm not yet a dog person...I am a Trinity person. -J
Just subbed because you are trying to keep the dog. I have had five rescues so far. It will be hard and rewarding at the same time. One really big advantage is security. Dogs will alert you if someone is creeping around the outside of your trailer. Plus any creep seeing you with a dog will also think twice before robbing you at a truckstop or some other place.
We're super happy to have her on walks...once we can turn her excitement level down a notch. Lots of training going on right now. 😁 Thanks so much for subscribing! -J
I"m so happy you are keeping Trinity. She is such a sweet pup and deserves a great life. That was my first video to watch you and I am now a subcriber!
So glad you found us! Yeah, looking back it's hard for me to watch that we were so close to not keeping her. I blame it on all our decisions getting compressed into one morning because of the unexpected completion of the job. It has all worked out though and she's a full on part of the family. 🙂 -J
Dogs are the best thing for staying in shape. I've had dogs all my life and at 70 I still walk Maggie 6miles /day and spend an hour or more each afternoon at the dog park throwing balls, frisbees and generally running around. I'm on Zero meds ,have perfect blood pressure and a flat stomach and I owe it to my best friends,my dogs. Keep her you won't regret it. God bless you three.
I've had dogs/cats/rabbits at the same time, they all grew up together ❤. Well im sure you guys will come up with a solution. Someone abandoned her, she's so sweet.
New to your channel. I clicked to learn about Work Camping and Gate Guarding, stayed for the two of you and Trinity and Cody. Subscribed. Much love for the rescue of Trinity. Great family.
Just found your channel today, this had me in tears watching Trinity but they turned to happy tears when you said she was staying!!! Sometimes things are just meant to be! I subscribed
New subscriber here.. So happy Trinity has made herself at home, and that you guys decided to give her a chance.. Good luck with the gate guarding thing, much love from South Carolina..🙋♂️👍
So happy to see you let God make the plan ... my fav verse Jer 29:11. We have 3 businesses and God is our 3rd partner. We bless our products, we pray over customers. It is so important to us that Jesus shines thru us.
Haha - you got us! It’s true - our goal is to not glamorize it WHILE also being positive because we truly believe we are lucky to be able to move our backyard all over the country. Lots of good, lots of…challenges. 😂 -J
🇺🇸Hey, Open; The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Milan, is the expert, who can help. You've already named the beautiful pup, Trinity, so that's your answer. GODBless
Oh my God, she is a carbon copy of my dog. I wish I had seen it earlier, I would adopt her in a heartbeat. Reach out if you can, I'll give you a picture of my dog in competitive. If you're ever on the east coast and feel that you need to find your home I'll take her. It's uncanny how close she is to my dog, who is part Labrador, Pitbull, beagle, Mastiff, Rottweiler, and Golden retriever.. ❤❤
Appreciate the offer! If you catch up on some of the videos after this one you'll see that we full on adopted her. Can't imagine life without her now. According to a DNA test we got done she's full on Catahoula! -J
Hello beautiful couple, my husband and I have been rescuing dogs from the south, Texas MOSTLY...you do NOT bring a dog to a southern shelter, they euthanize all dogs every week, say you drop a dog off on Thur and they euthanize Fridays....the dog will be euthanized with all the others. You did the right thing, she will take time getting used to the rabbit, she may have had to eat wildlife to survive....so be patient, she will learn, dogs are super smart...most of them anyway lol. We subscribed also, can't wait to see how you handle RV living with a new family member. We are doing the same thing soon. Hugs to you guys and Trinity too of course from your new CT & Maine viewers. Xzoo oh, p.s. your RV is soooo beautiful inside and looks very nice on the outside for being an older model...wow ..great job guys!! Love your channell.
I’m so glad that you guys kept Trinity. Even though I have never had rabbits🐰or owned an RV “land yacht” 🚐🛥️, this senior citizen has been owned by numerous cats and dogs. My current household includes an American Staffordshire Terrier. If someone were to tell me I should get rid of My Blue Boy for any reason… Grrr… Them there are fighting words. And I’d tell the person, “Oh Child, Bless Your Heart.” That’s a Southern thing. And I’ve subscribed despite the fact that I travel in my SUV. ❤️😊Brenda & Blue🐕🦺❤️
Thanks so much for subscribing! This channel is for anyone who wants to ride along on our adventures, no RV required. 😁 I've deleted multiple comments on here of people telling us to get rid of our rabbit for the dog. I'm 1000% with ya...those are fighting words. This is my comment section and I don't have to put up with their nonsense. 😂 -J
You know the Security companies charge the oil companies $45 per hour ($1000 per day) and only pay the guards $8 per hour ($200 per day). We're getting $18 per hour ($400- $500 per day) and $1 per mile from jobsite to jobsite. Its about the negotiations and getting it in writting. If you want to make a living at it, contact the oil companies directly and other security companies.
Good info. I'm happy to negotiate (and tried to on a couple gates before turning them down) but I have no interest in doing this on my own outside a security company. I don't want to be responsible for the generator, lights, water, and sewer. That said, of course it would be nice to pull down a little more. I've heard you make more through these companies in the summer but I have zero interest to hang out in the Texas heat. 😁 -J
Glad we came across your videos, and enjoying them so much. Have to admit though I’m over here crying about Trinity . So glad you kept her. Happy tears!
Well I just watched this one and where you found Trinity- She’s a Cutie for sure, and I’m glad yall kept her, I feel sure the more she’s around the rabbit - and knowing that the rabbit is part of y’all’s Family- I feel sure she’ll know, it’s not her next meal, - I hope yall find Happiness on your adventures- God Bless, and Happy Trails- 🤠♥️✝️🐾🦴🇺🇸🌲🐿️🍀
So, how can we send money for Trinity’s Dog food? You guys can keep eating sandwiches, but Trinity deserves great snacks and food!!! Lol. On another note, I can’t believe the gate guard gig only pays $200 bucks a day, especially when you’re supplying the RV.
This comment made me literally laugh out loud. First thing I read when I got up this afternoon (Don't judge...still working a 7am-7pm shift over here.) 😂 Trinity is accepting donations for toys and food at paypal.me/openroading but we continue to tell her that this family doesn't expect donations from people. -J
This video made me tear up! We have 5 dogs and although they are overwhelming sometimes, I dont know what our life would be without their unconditional love. For you guys to give her the best life a dog can have it beautiful:)
She has proven to us day in and day out that we are the lucky ones (Ok...except when she destroys a few months supply of napkins... 😂) I laugh looking back at these videos because I was so "She won't be on the furniture" to "Ok...she won't be on the bed." Yeah....she runs the place now. I turned into such a softy. -J
I'm so happy you kept her dogs are so loving and quickly. To forgive. Females are more loving than male dogs. Remember that. She has loving eyes and smiles. Cowboy john norco California horse Town USA 🇺🇸
Keep that KELPIE mix cattle dog!!!! I picked up my Kelpie pup from a Utah shelter and she trucks the open road with me everyday. VERY LOYAL BREED and very intelligent, buy her an electronic collar and use it to train her in conjunction with verbal commands using mouth noises and single words!
Hi Guys I'm in the U.K., I don't know how you got onto my YT feed as your content wouldn't be my first choice to view. However, I watched the gate guarding episode and enjoyed it, mainly because of Trinity, I have to admit. I watched this episode hoping you would keep Trinity and I am so pleased that you did. Fate has a way of matching humans and animals together. Your kind and heartwarming decision has earned you my subscription. I wish you all well for the future and will enjoy following your journey. Kind regards and safe travels.

There is no benefits but u can work when u want to and transfer when u need. I believe it's 15 a hour. It's a thought. They will pay u to train. Ask u need to kniw to begin with is hiw to work a fire exhauster 😊.
We saw fire watch - the primary thing we wanted at that time (this video was back in November) was what gate guarding could offer - a job where you could work on your own things in the margins (like this youtube channel and Kalyn's biz). Fire watch requires full attention (from my research) whereas gate guarding I could sit at my computer and work in-between vehicles coming through. In the end - gate guarding worked really well for us because between that and UA-cam we were able to set aside $15K in 4 months. -J
Thanks! This is just a little thank you for all you guys do. We are learning from you and enjoying your travels! Wish it could be more. Have fun in AK!!
I've always said we don't pick them (fur babies) but they pick us. Glad you didn't settle with that last gate guarding job. You'll know when it's right. I'm so glad I found your videos, they're very informative.
Can I tell you what a breath of fresh air this comment is? First - I love our youtube comment section!! So many kind people here and honestly I'm shocked at the lack of trolls. But when it comes to this topic so many people have told us (with the best of intentions I am 100% sure!) that we were wrong in not taking that other gig. So to have someone understand that there was more at play than "just another gate guarding gig"...means a lot. At the time we were very unsure whether or not our gut decision was right, but as i'm sure you've seen in future videos there really was a better job down the line AND it gave us a chance to do some long overdue work on the RV while we waited. Thank you! -J
Sent you some $$ to help with the new family member. I'm a dog-guy and Trinity will be a great companion on your journey. Good people + good dogs can get through anything! Love your content. Best of luck as you work towards that Alaska adventure.
Wow...thank you so very much. I'm always so awkward when someone pops in with a generous superthanks because it just doesn't feel real to have a community that would give to a complete stranger. 🥹 Thank you again. We couldn't imagine our lives without Trinity. She's been such an amazing part of our family that at this point I'm quite certain that we are more lucky to have her than she is to have us. -J
I found you guys when i went into UA-cam this morning, and I must say, the same situation happened to us about a year ago, when our Shiba inu fell into our hands, and we haven't looked back and never will. He just cheers us up every day and can't be without him. I'm glad you decided to keep Trinity and give the love❤ she was looking for. Best of luck and safe travels! Always love ur videos! Great content.
I'm happy to hear you decided to keep Trinity ! She picked you guys for a reason ,she saw the love you guys had to give . Hoping things keep going good between her and Cody .
So far things have been going very well. We don't let them hang out alone but so far Trinity hasn't given us a reason to be concerned. -J
PS you’ve made a new subscriber here and I too am binging all your episodes. Plus even though we’re seniors, hubby and I will be truck camping this year. Kids like you have inspired us to still dream ❤
I am so exactly the same...T was meant to be...don't act...just LOVE HER
Me too! I’m team Trinity and subscribe
@@gfody7593 Awe!!! You called us kids! Best compliment I've gotten this week since I just turned 41! 😂 I really do appreciate it! -J
Trinity is the real deal. Thank you for opening your hearts to her. She will never forget what y'all did for her ❤
All the best in finding good gigs and making enough scratch to get to Alaska. Appreciate you guys being real with the content. Cheers
Thanks so much for the encouraging words. We're lucky to have her. -J
Since you adopted Trinity, I'm subscribing. I just found your channel when Trinity found you in the gate-guarding video, and I was touched by the love you showed her. since she is staying, so am I. Safe Journey!
Welcome to the journey! -J
Ditto.
Aww man, you guys deciding to take Trinity in and let her join the family makes my heart full. She came into your lives for a reason and I'm glad she's going to get to stay with you guys!
We're so happy to have her. She's already fit right into the family. ❤️ -J
Here's a tissue: 🤧
-J
As to channels getting new RVs, I hope we don't lose you if we ever "get popular" (a long way to go for that!
I'm so sorry we made you cry! I hope the happy tears made the sad ones worth it. ❤️ -J
Thank you for being....ANGELS....I WOULD HAVE KEPT HER TOO....THERE,S A REASON THIS IS ALL...HAPPENING
Dogs are such a gift, and deserve loving homes. It was heart warming seeing the 3 of you walking together at the end.
She's our new walking buddy! -J
We know she's not fixed so eventually we'll have to get her into the "cone of shame" to make sure we don't end up with a bunch of little Tinitys.
Good luck.
@@JMidwest1999 Yikes! Yeah, I wish we were closer to a town, we'd get her fixed sooner. It is in our immediate plans though. -J
@@zeniara Harness is on our shopping list. Looking for the right one that fits her perfectly. 😊 -J
This story choked me up. I’m so sorry for your loss and yes - they steal your heart so quickly. -J
I’m so sorry for your loss.
I subbed because of Trinity. She is an angel dog.
She's pretty special. -J
No way would I leave her!
Just checking - did you get to minute 8?
1st, prayers for Cody. You guys are on a great journey. I binged a few videos and watched some of your ups an downs. Im so glad you decieded to allow Trinity to stay with you. She chose you. I subscribed.
Thank you so much. Very much appreciate the prayers. He's doing pretty well all things considered. We're about a month and a half past that appointment and he continues to take his meds and be a great part of the family. We cherish every day we have with him.
Yeah - Trinity certainly chose us but while I'm not a "dog person" I'm coming around to see that we're the real lucky ones. -J
I bet the dog feels like she's won the lottery meeting yall
Not sure who won it more, her or us. She really is just part of the family now.

Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment. Trinity is making herself at home. 🙂 -J
We're workin with her! Lots of progress so far!
Please keep Trinity as a part of your family. She needs people like you to know that life can be great.
Oh she's fully part of the fam. Once we knew she was OK with Cody there was zero turning back. That was the only thing we were concerned about at the end. -J
No question, I would have kept Trinity. She seems so friendly, playful and gentle. I subbed because you kept her😊. I am not even an RVer.
All non-RVers are welcome to subscribe! We hope you find our adventures and misadventures to be entertaining and we want to earn every view. 😁 -J
Thanks so much for the tips! We're working very hard with her on the training. She's really really good but still struggling in new environments. -J
Start a Trinity fund on your channel, Your viewers will help with the costs as she transitions. Safe travels!
Haha! That's an idea. 😁
Honestly though we wouldn't have committed to Trinity if we weren't willing and prepared to take on the expenses that were required. If that means delaying other plans (which I don't believe it will at all) then that's what it means. I don't want to ask others foot the bill for our responsibility. -J
Y’all rescued Trinity! If people want to help with that, let us!
@@cherifroehling6593 @Minnesotabryan4933
I'll talk to Kalyn about it (as far as putting a more public link somewhere) but we are very careful on here because we don't want anyone to come away from our videos that we are asking for money - Especially since our first video was all about being broke and our current "season" is about raising $15K for Alaska.
I honestly don't know how the SuperThanks on here works (although I do know that google takes a significant chunk of it in fees) but here's the Paypal link:
paypal.me/openroading
If you mark it as "Trinity" we'll use it for her, if you mark it for Alaska fund we'll put it in there. And if you don't send anything at all, you'll still be our amazing friends in the comments that we absolutely love. -J
People don't pick the dog the dog picks the people. Shes comfortable with you both so id say give her the best life she can have.
That's the plan.
Thanks so much for this kind comment. We are always so encouraged by the thoughtful words people leave us here. With the internet as toxic as it can be, it's so refreshing to hear from good people. 🙂
When it comes to Patreon, when Kalyn and I started this series on raising money for Alaska we wanted to make it clear that we weren't asking people for money.

Thanks so much for the info on Alaska.

You are so right. Losing pets is so hard because of how much joy they bring. -J

Use Clorox cleaner with bleach and a smaller paint brush in the window tracks... Or anything that's hard to clean.
Good for you guys! Just found your channel and subscribed immediately! Will be a loyal follower!
You are special folks for adopting Trinity , she had already adopted you . thank you so much
We have dogs and two rabbits you can do it.
Id take the dog all day.
Booyah 👊🏽 😁 👍🏽 🇺🇸
My heart is happy y'all kept Trinity! ❤ Looking forward to the next vid!
Same! That day was such an emotional rollercoaster but looking back we are both so happy that we all stayed together.
Thanks so much for subscribing! -J
Thank you so much for giving Trinity a chance at a loving home❤
We’re so glad we did. -J
I"m so happy you are keeping Trinity. She is such a sweet pup and deserves a great life. That was my first video to watch you and I am now a subcriber!
Thanks for subscribing and welcome to the adventure! -J
Love you guys first time watching your video excited you kept trinity she chose you guys for a purpose enjoy your adventures will follow thanks
So glad you found us! Yeah, looking back it's hard for me to watch that we were so close to not keeping her. I blame it on all our decisions getting compressed into one morning because of the unexpected completion of the job. It has all worked out though and she's a full on part of the family. 🙂 -J
Found your channel with the prior video. I'm tearing up about Trinity.. And I'm a Cat Guy.. Wishing you the best karma with your decisions.m
Thanks so much. Sorry to have brought tears but hopefully they were good ones. -J
@@OpenRoading happy happy
Dogs are the best thing for staying in shape. I've had dogs all my life and at 70 I still walk Maggie 6miles /day and spend an hour or more each afternoon at the dog park throwing balls, frisbees and generally running around. I'm on Zero meds ,have perfect blood pressure and a flat stomach and I owe it to my best friends,my dogs. Keep her you won't regret it. God bless you three.
6 miles! Trinity got jealous when I read that! 😁 -J
I've had dogs/cats/rabbits at the same time, they all grew up together ❤. Well im sure you guys will come up with a solution. Someone abandoned her, she's so sweet.
She is very sweet and seems to be getting along with Cody better than I expected! -J
Doggy trin. Will be a good security measure!!!
You know. I see how your videos remind me of MTV Real World. Which is whimsical fun, with the music, honest conversations debriefings, hand cam, etc.
Haha! Never thought I'd see the day where I got compared to a show on MTV. -J
New to your channel. I clicked to learn about Work Camping and Gate Guarding, stayed for the two of you and Trinity and Cody. Subscribed. Much love for the rescue of Trinity. Great family.
Thank you so much! I'm glad we were able to entice you to join the community! -J
Que bella trinity 🐕.... Se la tienen que quedar 🙏 saludos desde maturin Venezuela
Just found your channel today, this had me in tears watching Trinity but they turned to happy tears when you said she was staying!!! Sometimes things are just meant to be! I subscribed
She's part of the family now. 😀 -J
Just subscribed, you guys seem pretty wholesome and I'm happy you kept Trinity👍🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Thanks so much. So appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave a comment. -J
New subscriber here..
So happy Trinity has made herself at home, and that you guys decided to give her a chance..
Good luck with the gate guarding thing, much love from South Carolina..🙋♂️👍
Thanks so much and welcome! We hope you enjoy riding along with us each week. -J
So happy to see you let God make the plan ... my fav verse Jer 29:11. We have 3 businesses and God is our 3rd partner. We bless our products, we pray over customers. It is so important to us that Jesus shines thru us.
We always remember that God is good. Good times, bad times, things go the way we hoped and planed, or things fall apart - He's always good. -J
You seem to show the reality of full time RV life which is great…and not so great
However; Y’all kept that sweet baby girl…you got a subscriber
Haha - you got us! It’s true - our goal is to not glamorize it WHILE also being positive because we truly believe we are lucky to be able to move our backyard all over the country. Lots of good, lots of…challenges. 😂 -J
Yea!!! Trinity is still with you!! Awesome.. She's a sweet pooch..❤👍 I think she's had puppies before.. She's a cutey..
Yeah....puppies were certainly in her past. Hopefully not in her future 😂 -J
🇺🇸Hey, Open; The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Milan, is the expert, who can help. You've already named the beautiful pup, Trinity, so that's your answer.
GODBless
Thanks for the recommendation. We've been working with her on training and she's learning fast. -J
Thanks so much for all your kindness, both to us and your animals. -J
I've deleted multiple comments on here of people telling us to get rid of our rabbit for the dog.
We can't imagine life without her. She's become such a huge part of our fam. 🤗 2023 Joe didn't know what an awesome dog she was. -J
Thanks so much! Yeah, Trinity and Cody are getting along very well! -J
First thing I read when I got up this afternoon (Don't judge...still working a 7am-7pm shift over here.) 😂
Trinity is accepting donations for toys and food at paypal.me/openroading but we continue to tell her that this family doesn't expect donations from people.
I laugh looking back at these videos because I was so "She won't be on the furniture" to "Ok...she won't be on the bed."
Yeah....she runs the place now. I turned into such a softy. -J
I'm so happy you kept her dogs are so loving and quickly. To forgive. Females are more loving than male dogs. Remember that. She has loving eyes and smiles. Cowboy john norco California horse Town USA 🇺🇸
She's pretty sweet, that's for sure! -J
Working hard on the training. It's going pretty well. She's smart...and stubborn. 😂 -J
Hi Guys
I'm in the U.K., I don't know how you got onto my YT feed as your content wouldn't be my first choice to view.
Thanks so much for watching! We hope to visit your part of the world someday! -J
So fire watch. It's not hard. You seem such a kiveky couple.
If u want to work temp . ..people ready has branches in every state. Many different types of places. Fir the most part u stand and watch other people work.
There are people ready in San Antonio. I worked fir people ready as a full timer fir 29 years.
Thank you so much! So incredibly kind and generous of you. 🤗🤗
1 more week till we hit the Alaska border! -J
I've always said we don't pick them (fur babies) but they pick us. Glad you didn't settle with that last
gate guarding job.
Thank you again. We couldn't imagine our lives without Trinity. She's been such an amazing part of our family that at this point I'm quite certain that we are more lucky to have her than she is to have us. -J
Soooo happy you kept Trinity!!! Yeah, dogs can be good with smaller pets. Im glad you tried. You'll not regret it.
She has done amazingly well with Cody. We couldn't be happier. -J
I had to subscribe to Trinity’s channel. Congratulations on the new addition to the family.
Trinity content every week! (including photos in the community section) -J
We couldn't be happier. Every day we are like "We can't believe we have her" and it's always a good feeling. -J
See??? God is showing u that keeping trin. Is a good decision ...u r on the right path...and.. . Plumbing project is a piece if cake;!!!
See...you don't understand plumbing + me. The most simple plumbing project can quickly become a nightmare when I'm the one with the wrench. 😂 -J
