My intuition over changes kicks in like changing shapes or landscapes on the piano that's just something that my hand sees so that my ears are freed up I guess. I know if I am in an alt scale shape or a diatonic scale contour etc. So my ear can play listen look at half steps or common tones or changing tones.

I mean what do we need to play over dominants that resolve the major, resolve the minor, don't resolve the either etc. I am having a big difficulty about that. Especially for the secondary dominants and subs. dominants. I could not find the answer that make me satisfy from the other resources. I would be appreciate if you make a lesson about it. It's a LOT of work. I'm plugging away at the first few chapters of that Bergonzi bebop line book. "Infinite boiling softens the stone" as they say. Cool lesson, your time feel is sweet.

I remember that Barry Harris has an example in his masterclass of a Gb7 mixo bop scale over Gm7 C7. He started from the major 3rd of the scale (Bb), and it is the b3 of the Gm7 chord. This is a away to expand the bop scales thing.

@@MattiaLezi I would call that Phrygian Dominant bop scale 😎 Phrygian bobpscale would have Ab instead of A natural, if one is to believe Bergonzi's books. Also it's a Gb not F# 🤓🤓🤓

I've been working on some Jimmy Wyble etudes, and Ted Greene's baroque lessons. The Ted Greene lessons show him taking a classical approach, and then filtering some jazz tunes through the counterpoint ideas. I'm not sure if you take requests, but I thought I'd ask.
I love requests and thank you. Counterpoint is a tricky one I'm not qualified to teach that. I find that when Jazz players talk about that it's often an extreme simplification of what classical composers did. Nonetheless, it's a valid thing in Jazz these days. I know there are instructional videos on the topic with Antoine Boyer and Gilad Hekselman. Where did you find the Ted Greene stuff? Is there a book? Thanks for watching /Mikko

For the Ted Greene stuff, if you look up "ted greene baroque improv" in youtube, you'll find parts 1 to 5. The first 5 videos are mostly about classical music, but he's still relating it to jazz. In part 5, he plays "out of nowhere" using the techniques he was talking about. His website has some transcriptions for the lesson. The classical stuff is way over my head. I know with Fux counterpoint, there are a lot of rules. I'm not really interested in learning all of the classical stuff, but just using 2 or 3 different lines or melodies to create music. It's like you said, a lot of the jazz stuff is an extreme simplification. The Jimmy Wyble etudes have been really helpful too. He's mostly just using 1 or 2 notes at a time, but he was able to make really interesting sounds. Thanks again! Your lessons are really helpful.
The 6th is flat on dominants going to minor (usually) so it was already there. The note I'm adding to the mixo b2 b6 scale ( aka phrygian dominant) is the major 7 🤓

When you mention the Dom7 and Dom7b9 chords do you mean add a Maj7 to the arpeggios or mixolydian scales?
Yes you add a maj 7th to eaither a mixolodian or a mixolodian b9 b6 scale depending on the chord. Not sure what arpeggios you are referring to?
So for C7b9, you're playing the F harmonic minor scale, but starting on the C and adding the Maj7th of C? So C, Db, E, F, G, Ab, Bb, and B?
at 3:05 you said "V of harmonic minor" but the V of harmonic minor contains b6 and in our case there is a nat6

You mean Phrygian dominant bebop scale? Sure that works. You get the Gb and which is outside of the key. But sometimes that sounds better 😃👍

Hey Andy I use a Tanglewood. It's like a cheaper version of AER I guess. It's not super great but it gets the job done.

Yes Godin Multiac Grand Concert SA. It's an acoustic amp not sure if it's made for any specific pickup but works great with a piezo.
