The best camera to have in-hand is the one you have in your hand; so I’ve been told. This young man has good observational and operational skills. If it works let’s use it.
Good video. I agree with you about why cdhk is interesting now... These older cameras that originally cost $250 to near 500 in some cases are literally Happy Meal prices now. I've always wanted these models back in the 2000s and 2010s but wasn't practical to sink money into more than one or two. But now, I've bought 15 of them (Canon and fuji), many with original boxes and paperwork, and I have maybe 250 in the lot, including taxes and shipping. Loads of fun, learning more about how to get off Auto mode. Of all the models I've bought so far, a hidden gem is a Fuji s3000 that takes great photos if you get familiar with it (which I am because I have used a Fuji A205 daily since March 2004 and have taken almost 40,000 photos with it, mostly of products that I sell). Also like the Canon Sx120 and sx130 and sx230. Models that I wanted, but just do not like after using them, are the Fuji F30 and F20, both of which were highly regarded pocket models back then. I can't get great photos from them no how. Anyway, I hope you continue to make videos about older models that you find interesting.
I want a Canon D30, it's a waterproof point and shoot and fully compatible with CHDK. It could be the ideal camera for vacation and street under heavy rain
I got my sd1000 from a yard sale today for a dollar…the only thing I need is the charger….also..do I need to remove the battery to charge this or can I use the usb port
I have the SD1000 (with the Black ring). I always took the battery out to charge it. The USB port is for printing using the Direct Print feature to allow you to print without feeding it through a computer.
Hi, i wanted to know what specific guide you followed for sd1000 because they all say to turn on the camera with play button after inserting the sd card and i am not sure if sd1000 have a play button
Hey! I have a problem, what happens is that I do all the steps for RAW mode, however when I take photos and transfer them to my PC, these photos look very small, an approximate size of 126x98. and JPEG photos look normal size. Even though RAW photos look tiny, these photos weigh more than JPEGs
Ah, I recommend following these instructions from the official CHDK wiki. chdk.fandom.com/wiki/Prepare_your_SD_card But the important part is that you need to find the correct version for your cameras. They use the European model numbers, so it won't correlate exactly. Download the "IXUS70" build for your PowerShot SD1000. "IXUS60" for the PowerShot SD600. "IXUS50" the the PowerShot SD400. If I recall, the letter you should use depends on the firmware your camera is already running. But try the builds labeled "A" first. (Eg 1.01A) Downloads can be found here: mighty-hoernsche.de/

Hello, thanks for sharing your video with us :) I'm a bit confused, when you're comparing the photos from one to another, which is which? Is the SD1000 the one on the left side?
@@EVRLYNMedia Thanks for the quick response! I just got a chance to get the SD1000 at a low price at a thrift shop, but looking at these comparisons I like way better the colors/lens on the SD600. Do you think the lens in the SD600 is way better if I'm looking to have a closer "film" look?
@@leonardodaniel5414 Strangely enough, I found that the SD600 consistently produced more saturated and pleasing images on full auto. The SD1000 is actually disappointing in some ways because there's so much color fringing, which totally ruins any "film" aesthetic because film doesn't do that. But that could just be my unit... I also have a Powershot SD750 which has the same specs as an SD1000, but it doesn't look nearly as cool. It seemed to be sharper.
Last week I saw a SD600 for 10 dollars at a thrift store. Though, the battery was dead and I wanted to test the camera before buying. I have a spare battery from my mom's SD1400 IS camera, but I didn't bring it that day.

For those who live in Europe like me the camera is called here the canon Ixus 70 and not SD1000 but they are exactly the same camera
Yeah, regional variants are weird. Like how a canon rebel t6i is really just an EOS 750D in Europe
