No doubt I made some mistakes on that stalk but it was awesome to get so close to such a beautiful buck. Thankful for the opportunity to share this hunt with you all!
The whole time I am sitting here saying look at the stuff on the left then you spotted him before he saw you I was rooting for you to back up and move left to get a shot thru the backside opening great stalk though either way
@@elizabeth_williams I stared at all of the stuff on the left for 10+ minutes looking for movement. The buck was so buried. Hindsight, I would approach from that side of the island
@@JacobSklenarTheWildCalling hindsight is always 20/20
Awesome stalk! Cant win them all
That stalk was incredible. And with your filming I felt like I was right there with you. Had my heart pumping!
That’s a tough one jacob.
Thanks man. It was such a cool experience
What exciting hunts! Great hunt for Ricky wow that's exciting and for them to hang around to film and see them eat! Wow
Great footage Rick😎
Great hunt Rick, you set up right on them. Had to be a good feeling and some great footage to go with it. I see it as a successful hunt even without taking a shot.
Thats sounds like a lot nicer conversation than i get from my ole lady when i get home 😂😂
The recording of Ricky and his wife is absolutely hilarious! It made me literally bust into laughter both times I’ve heard it! The best part is it’s not staged is it? Great trip so far boys keep it up!!!
It was not staged , she was all fired up that day!!
Stalking in to 4 yards from a whitetail buck, that’s awesome. And DANG RICKY! be hard for me not to shoot. Heavy wind can be tough though.
See if the poop tastes like acorns. Lol dan too funny
it was worth a try... He ate the oak cancer. LOL
timing of all these episodes has been great we all are pumped for season!
Awesome property! Great job filming.
And that spike is walked right under you! 😂
Amazing job sneaking up on him! That’s hard to do! Elite hunting skills
Really enjoying this series. Hope Ricky connects on that buck!
I was in this exact situation a few years ago. 3 yards from a bedded buck in cattails. When he finally got up he had seen me and bolted. I concluded that should I ever get another stalking opportunity like that again I was going to fill my pockets full of rocks. That way I could try and get him to stand from a noise coming from the opposite direction as my location. Stalks like that are soooo tough to pull off. Hope you can get it done next time though. It’s a killer skill to develop!
Definitely changes the way I’ve been hunting Nebraska.
I hope Rick gets one of those bucks, great video as always.
Awesome encounters!
Oh man, that was some intense stuff!!! Right at your fingertips now, just a matter of time!! 😊👍🏼👊🏼💪🏼🏹🦌☠️
Yep it's Nebraska......the wind is blowing !
Rick's gonna own it.
Awesome hunt Jacob, heart break city. That’s the game we play
Great hunt Jacob. Rick, wow. Hate you didn’t have a good shot.
Dang Rick!
Dang Jacob!! You almost had him! All one can do is learn from it for the next time
I was ready for the next episode before that one was finished 🎉
Nice job guys!!
Great video guys
Love that windy day stalking! It works everywhere and we all should remember to hit it on those WINDY Days.
Very suspenseful trip. Hope to get to see one making a change of address on the next one.
Could it be Ricky was tired and that is why he did not take a shot. 😁🤣
Got impatient with the deer bedded at 4 yards. Happens to the best of us. Keep persevering
Eric, looks like Oak galls.
Atleast you got awesome footage but damn that was nerve wracking waiting for a arrow to fly..🙀😳😭
Great series. Those were two really nice bucks at the end.
The last 10 seconds of this video. I’m going to be hearing a lot of that real soon
HUNTIN BEAST!!🦌🦌
Come on, give em the heater ricky
You guys are proving how easy Wisconsin hunting really is..
Ha ha ha 😂😂😂😂
Good example of why making a noise to get a buck’s attention is a bad idea. THP says it all the time. Should’ve just had a little more patience, bucks stand and adjust themselves in the bed every hour or so.
Spot on! Didn’t expect him to be there and I got a bad swirl of wind right as I saw him. He ended up smelling me but I don’t think he ever saw me. I was up to my chest in grass and had a good backdrop. Was such a cool hunt either way. Wish I wouldn’t have lost track of him and saw him bed. Would’ve sat back and waited then
This was intense Jake!!!! I can only imagine how it felt when you first saw him, and then when he bolted!!!
@@olegchernenko6712 such a crazy swing of emotions. Absolute highest of highs to lowest of lows
Also, should mention, I waited over an hour for him to stand before progressing in
a lesson learn..if you're gonna wait for that ethical shot..a big buck like that who is staring right at you is not gonna provide it for you..he is just gonna take off. u can do alot of damaged to a deer while they are bedded n being up that close..speaking from my own personal experiences..I have never lost a deer compared to those ethical broadside shots that we all wait for lol
Jacob! At 4 yards you shoulda pulled a Tim Wells and shot that buck behind the eye!! Rick!! Crawl up there in that wind brother!!
If I could go back I probably would’ve
Tough situation! Still hunting makes everything whitetails more difficult. If you want to know exactly how high you hit, and you know it’s 32 yards was how far the deer actually was, just aim at a target 32 yards away the same way you did when you shot the buck if you haven’t already and you’ll know for sure. Plus the deer was alert ish, it could have increased the height of the hit further still. Nothing wrong with how that situation went down. If you hunt enough and hard enough you’ll end up in that situation as a bowhunter.
Man o man I was hoping Ricky poo smoked that buck!
Great stalk, Jacob. Sucks he bolted instead of standing first.
I'm tagged out in Missouri until gun season dropped a big nanny doe at 2pm Friday while setting up my stand, then her boyfriend got too curious and I just couldn't leave a witness😂
Congrats Elizabeth!!!!
Another year, thank God. The daily grind is killing me. I need tree time.
I hear that ! Have a safe season bro. Good luck.
Awesome video good luck guys. Pull the trigger Ricky poo
Those aren't oak apples, I believe they are called oak galls. Some maybe poisonous. Created from wasp eggs.
Dan I have to ask, What's going on with the recording of Rick and his wife? I'm gonna assume that she's given him a hard time for doing his annual rituals. Good luck. Hope to see a dead white tail by next video!
Ricky's got it rough... LOL.
hey Rick, I wasn't there so I don't know what The lay of the land was It always looks different on camera, but I was just kind of wondering why you didn't try to get on your hands and knees and creep up to them deer I know I would've and I'm 6'4" 250 I have gotten within 5 to 10 yards of deer on a windy day and actually killed a few in that condition. every situation is different and more times than not you get busted but every now and then it works.
The difference is, I don't have a UA-cam channel so I don't need to get it on camera you do so I understand
Careful with the milkweed “milk” it can cause cardiac arrest.
WHy didn't you shoot Rick Dan would have shot twice at that one
Was corn on public or private?
private. they had to cross the fence
Where in the state are you?
This Eric dude got any credentials?
Eric is a certified stud
Either way does it matter... dont you ever just hunt with friends 🤔 or do they need credentials lmao 😂 also eric has been on this channel the last few years with Dan
i love your videos and all the great info you teaches, but damn you guys moved and turns so much that causes viewers to have nausea..
people may criticize me for saying this, but dab is true, just watch others hunting videos they don’t swing, moving fast, causing headaches… i truly wished you guys would try to do less fast swing or turning.
Nice stalk .cool.hunt
Deer bleed pretty well from the neck..
If you hit the carotid artery other wise the deer will survive or die of infection a month later. I've seen deer shot in the neck with a 30-06 and never recovered. Neck shot is not worth the risk.
@@Diffidentone you can pretty much say that with any shot if you go above the lungs inbetween the vitals in the spine or in the back half between the sack in the quarters orange of the shoulder into the bone. Placement at everything as long as you put it in the right place you get your outcome
@@Diffidentone I shot a buck I named splash because I was hunting a ridge and flooded creek bottom. Had a rut frenzy going on splashing through the water I shot what I thought was the biggest buck grazed the back of his neck and knocked him out and he splashed and fell under water. When I gutted him his lungs were full of water he drowned and had there not been 2 feet of water I could lost him.
@@JimBowSlice I knew someone that shot a buck and they had buck fever so bad they shot it in the antler well the impact knocked the buck out. He went up and poked it with his gun barrel as he should but since it was knocked out it did not react and he thought it was dead. So he leaned his rifle up against the buck and went to pick up the head and the buck woke up and in the process hooked it's antler around his gun sling, got up and ran off with his gun hanging from it's rack. Luckily it fell off about 100 yards away and he recovered the gun. If I'm not mistaken he even attached his tag to the antler so the buck was running around with his tag on it.
@@Diffidentone wow that's a pretty crazy one. I just remembered another crazy one from my grandpa in the 50s. He was checking on his cattle and in the pasture there was a nice buck with a doe so he shot it out of truck, not the point of this story as it was common place for farmers back then. So he dropped it with a neck shot drove over there threw it in the truck and took it to the barn and hung it up. I guess it only took a few minutes but the deer Un gutted hanging from its back legs wakes up and starts going crazy he had to kill it with a ball pien hammer. I still have the skull today and it's skull had a ball pien hole in it. Pretty wild. And now I have thought of another one, my brother's fist buck had been shot before he got it and they tried to head shoot it and blew the bottom jaw off. He killed 2 miles and an hour later from where that happen. Makes me think twice for sure
