      I like following a bit of MMA on UA-cam, I first saw him about 6 months ago, prior to that I had never even heard of him. I can only assume UFC never really promoted the lightweight divisions and UA-camrs just use what is available when promoting their own channels. I follow DJ now though and watch his channel. He is retiring and I think he is happy, I don't think he needs money or anything. Going out with all his faculties intact and financially secure is as much as anyone in the sport can hope for. He will be remembered as one of the all time greats but it might take a few more years for the legend to grow.

    • @zGJungle
      @zGJungle Рік тому +3

      He is considered the goat because he is pretty much the perfect MMA fighter, like in a computer game where you have bars for each talent in MMA, most folks have 4/10 in say grappling, 7/10 striking, 6/10 ring IQ etc etc.
      DJ has pretty much 10/10 in every category.
      All of his fights are worth watching really, problem is he was so much better than the rest for so long that people took him for granted, and many didn't even care about him back in the day because he is small, as stupid as that sounds...

    • @_CoachW
      @_CoachW Рік тому +2

      Top 5 is a bit subjective. Demetrius is in the GOAT talk due to his records and the way he fought. He has KOs, submissions, and he fights to the last second. That's not an exaggeration DJ holds the record for latest finish by getting a sub at 4:59 of the fifth round.
      He also holds the UFC record for 11 consecutive title defenses. And you could make the argument the decision loss to Cejudo could have gone his way. Yes, Cejudo had ground control but many feel he did not do much offensively with it. Considering DJ got a TKO on him the first time they fought, can't blame him for sticking to the plan.
      My five to watch would probably be
      Ray Borg
      1st Cejudo fight
      Dominic Cruz (even though DJ loss, his performance against a pre-injury Cruz is something to study)
      Horiguchi ( an absolute clinic)
      And then I would combine Moraes and the Rodtang hybrid fight (he actually did better in the kickboxing then any one expected him to. Especially against a beast like Rodtang)

    How to beat great reaction time? Give them too much to react to. Man I love this level of fighting so much.

    Mighty Mouse is arguably the best MMA fighter of all time. The UFC hated him because he didn't talk shit, was always respectful and non-dramatic and they tried to smear his reputation because they felt he wasn't marketable.

    DJ is a true professional in the way he conducts himself both in and out of the ring. Pity the cringy shit talkers with the stunted emotional maturity get the spotlight. Luckily, history records wins and title defences and not shit like 'ya wife's is in me DM's'.
