Just terrific music throughout. Must admit loving John's Bass undergirding --then amazingly solemnly gliding onto the top of it all...not excessively but not letting go of me. Nice.
David, don't you ever apologize for re-doing a Queen reaction. Never! Every time I listen to a Queen song I found out new things. And by now you've listened to more Queen, so you can catch those little things, those little "innuendos" (yeah, I know, I could't help myself 🤣 😜) you couldn't before. And let me say I love your reactions and re-reactions, every time, and your "waffling" 😜 too , cuz you're honest and down to hearth with your reactions 🤩💯🤘 Thanks for doing this one again 😜🤩💯🤘😜🤩💯🤘
David, don't ever apologize for doing a Queen song more than once! We've probably listened to it 50 times. Your re-reaction was great. About the wonderful harmonies Queen always has...they themselves attributed it to luck... the fact that their voices just seemed to fit together right from the start: Roger high, Brian low and Freddie everywhere else. I love the tag end of this song..Freddie seems to have to always inject a little humor. Theres what sounds like a little squeal there at the beginning of it. Thanks again for re-doing this wonderfully complex composition.
The “Black Side” of Queen 2, including this song has to be queens best work! (Along with all of Night at the Opera) Thanks for doing the Queen that other reactors WONT!
Strange how you say reacting to this song brings back memories from a year ago. Imagine how us oldies feel when memories come flooding back from almost 50 years ago.
Along with the prophet's song without doubt my favourite Queen song 💝what a journey.....magical. Queen 11 my favourite album of all time!! It transformed my musical life !! It brought so much love ,joy , sunshine stunning song...stunning album ....life changing....heaven on earth dear David 💝thanks for that mate 🙂 we love you man 🤗👏🙏
Well you’ve done it again! I never heard Roger do so much singing so much- I thought only the high notes in this song- Lord knows I love the way you can disassemble a song!!
Aren’t we lucky we can listen to this anytime we want for the rest of our lives. So Freddie say goodbye forever at the end of this cut it WILL go on forever. Thanks again David. So happy to share this with you. Keep interrupting. It makes me smile.
A song like March of the Black Queen deserves more than one thorough listen, so I'm glad you came back to it! There are so many layers and details that you might have missed the first time hearing it. And even though I've heard it many times before, it still sounds fresh to me and it's a delight to see someone else go through it verse by verse, section by section, and discovering all the elements that make it such a great song.
Great reaction as usual! I watched an interview with Roger from 1977 where he mentioned that with the Queen II album, they first got into production and went "completely over the top". He said that there were so many overdubs and bounce-downs on March of the Black Queen that the oxide on the tape was almost completely worn away and was transparent.
🎼🎼 YAY!! This song is in my top three Queen songs!!🎼🎼 Its a brilliant & lyrical masterpiece!! 🎼🎼 Love how the piano “marches” with Brian’s guitar leading the Queen’s March! It definitely gives me an Alice in Wonderland vibe!! After all somewhere in Wonderland there’s a White Queen consuming Brian’s heart!! Freddie wrote March of the Black Queen wore black nail polish. Brian wrote White Queen he wore white nail polish!! Piano keys 🎹🎼🎼
Such a glorious masterpiece! I love your enthusiasm! Their music and its effect on crowds are just magical! Since this was from their second album, who knows what kind of music sorcery was cooking that would eventually either flesh out into something or be tossed into the waste basket. March of the Black Queen is so intense it was rarely sung live and only a small portion was sung as part of a medley. These early works just shows, not only how wonderfully talented they are but also how perfectly they went together! The song ends like that because it transitions right into the next song on the album, "Funny how love is." In their early work, they wrote a lot of fantasy/mythology-themed songs. In fact, when Freddie and his sister were kids, they created their own "Tolkien-esque" fantasy world called the "Kingdom of Rhye" and he told her stories, etc. Some believe Freddie took those childhood memories and wove them into his songs. Alongside "March of the Black Queen", their such songs include "Lily of the valley", "Nevermore", "ogre Battle" (live at the odeon is outstanding!), and "my fairy king". That world is most prominent in the song "The seven seas of Rhye". Here is a link for life at the rainbow ua-cam.com/video/ZGXlXIoU1aU/v-deo.html!
What a great song this is and I was sure that you had done this before and you loved it and I know you will love it again. Always a great song to react to. Roger said that he can't get quite as high as he used to in his falsetto but that his chest voice is actually higher now. At 71, I am grateful that he can still sing for us.
Thing is, with Queen, it doesn't matter how many times you listen to a song, you're always going to hear something different because they're so complex. That's what makes them so mesmerizing.
David, just a thank you for doing so much Queen. Some do about 20 songs and foolishly think they have covered Queen. Now I need to check what you haven't done...lol
My second all time favorite Queen song. The first being Liar. I love the layers and transitions. Its definitely a song you have to listen to many times because you always notice something different. Prog Queen is my favorite genre. But all Queen is great!
The whole Queen II album is a masterpiece of diversity, a kind of concept album but not, with Side White and Side Black depicting two opposite realms. The chaos of Black Queen totally contrasts with the delicacy of White Queen. Brilliant!
One of my Favorites...love how they can hit those high notes and it blends in with Brian mays guitar notes perfectly...I wore out my first album playing this on the Black side of the album and White Queen on the White side...if I remember correctly Brian May wrote all the songs on the White side and Freddie wrote all the songs on the Black side.
I like your waffling! 🤣the drums on your head- 🤣🤣Queen in 8D is tremendous! It sounds like they are IN your head- not just side to side- again David- helping us to enjoy and appreciate Queen even more from your music background! Thank you Sir!💛
Yes David, don't ever apologize! We all watch you for your "reactions" that means you're doing great! Keep up the good work, we're all listening😊 I thought this while listening, can all of you imagine how hard it had to be to remember all the harmonies for every single song!!!! They were genius!!!!!
Nice Memories Dave😊 it's still feels like it's you're first time! Enjoy watching you, Enjoy that f**n jack that back! I was going to sleep now watching this...and I'm pretty sure the song will still playing in my head till i woke up in the morning💯 March of the Black Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody and Innuendo GreaT Masterpiece !
The first three albums are my favorites. Queen were so unique and experimental, no other bands would ever produce such amazing sounds as Queen. All Queen albums are filled with great music. Great reaction. Could you react to Great King Rat? Please.
Debs I remember listening to them for the first time dear sister. My first album was" A day at the race's "Then it was a magical journey of discovery of their first four albums.
In the "Deep Cuts I" album you will find this song in full, with an actual ending. Here it transitions into "Funny how love is" (beautiful song with sweet lyrics btw) so that's why it seems to cut off at the very end. One of my favorites and I'm glad you did it again with more Queen experience, so to speak. I wish you did the live version of Somebody To Love again, except you did Montreal before, you could do Milton Keynes '82 here. I personally like Milton Keynes better. Anyway, another great reaction David
Love your enthusiasm and appreciation of their songs. Do watch the video with movie clips that go along with this song. It really enhances the music, and accentuates what a great job the did in creating these 6 Highlander songs to fit the movie clips they were shown. I bought the Highlander video on Ebay a few months ago just to fill in the support scenes and purpose of the music. Your reviews are very impressive. Thank you for doing this song
I was beyond excited when I saw that you’d uploaded this because I didn’t see it your first time round (I didn’t know about you then). This song is up there with my faves. Freddie at his complex, fantasy themed best. It’s a masterpiece. I love how you’ve picked up on every aspect of it. That ending catches everybody out. Bless you for doing this one.
Awesome reaction. Watching your reactions its like listening to the song for the first time, even if I've heard it many times. Love it. Thanks. And yes, the guitar at the "end" before it picks up again is also in Bohemian Rhapsody. This has been called the predecessor to Bo Rhap. Have you done Liar? Another awesome song, with similar multiple parts. I love the live version 1974 at the Rainbow cause I love to watch Freddie, but I'm really enjoying the way you break the song apart so maybe for that the lyric one is better? Maybe others here know if it sounds just as good as the live version? Thanks again!
Just found you and I’m losing my ever loving 60 year old American woman mind! At first it was because you are the ONLY reactor doing a deep dive on Queen but also because your observations are so smart and enthusiastic. I’ve said a million times that the Black Side of Queen II is my favorite song. My teenage self spent untold hours laying between giant stereo speakers clutching the liner notes. Anyone who did that will automatically hear “Funny How Love Is” immediately after the final note (once you really get there 😅) of the song you’re listening to now . . .
So glad you reacted to this and felt the feelings! I’m leaving a link to something that was included in a Queen dvd. I think this will get blocked but you can watch it just for fun and info. Bri goes in depth at the mixing board and explains and plays Bohemian Rhapsody. The recording of it etc. I couldn’t find this on the official Queen channel, so this is from a search. m.ua-cam.com/video/TDIfVWIJR7w/v-deo.html Lots of the things you pointed out in Black Queen are touched on here. Hope you enjoy!
I remember being 13 and discovering Queen. This was one of the first songs I heard besides the common songs of theirs (we will Rock you, We are the Champions etc..).Queen has been there for me ever since. I'm only 21, but I love their music. Great reaction!! Have you done Flick of the wrist reaction yet?
Great reaction as always. You still need to check out The Great King Rat live at the Rainbow and My Fairy King and Lily Of The Valley. All of these songs are from Freddie’s fantasy world. Other great ones include The Fairy Feller Master-Stroke.

thanks again for this reaction - I have one weird comment - those of us who bought these albums as teenagers - and have the whole lyric sheets know that the original line was "a little nigger-sugar and a rub-a-dub of baby oil" the word "nigger" was scrubbed b/c of its obvious negative connotations, but the term "nigger sugar" during its use, actually was a common "old" reference to brown sugar.. considering Freddie's background, I think he might be forgiven that lapse in political correctness... he was certainly not a racist... okay, now do "Funny how Love is" lol
You should react to a song called Age of Man by Greta Van Fleet, Live at the Red Rocks. It's on act 2 of their red rocks videos and starts around 13:40. It's an absoloutely phenomenal song :)

Brian said Freddie had an internal metronome because his timing was so accurate.
This song is used in Final Fantasy V111..to this day , Queen is everywhere🤩
One of my favorite Queen songs 🎵 from my favorite reactor !
Just terrific music throughout. Must admit loving John's Bass undergirding --then amazingly solemnly gliding onto the top of it all...not excessively but not letting go of me. Nice.
Queen - those four men were destined to be in a band together. So much excellent music. Creative.

One of my favorite , Freddie was a genius with infinite fantasy in his songwriting
One of their absolute best
