The opening sequence of harmonies is Freddie Mercury singing alone by layering multiple tracks . He did this in several songs, the most beautiful is You take my breath away studio version. You LOVED the live version at Hyde park, the studio version will blow you away.
John was 19 when he joined Queen. I’m not sure how old he is here. I’m sooo happy you did this video! So Queen! So Freddie!! Your reaction was outstanding!! Thank you David!
Well David, you've come for the big one, today. The entire song is a true masterpiece, and I am one of those who's seen it sooooooo many times, and never ever get enough of it. Those intro harmonies always get me, although knowing in advance it's Freddie harmonizing with himself. So perfect, so damn perfect. Freddie's 70s look is gorgeous, that long black hair really suits him at that time. To be honest, any look suited him. For me, the whole song is majestic, memorable, unique, mesmerizing, a masterpiece. Period. You are the best, David, you really are.
I didn't realize you hadn't done this one. The band said it was all in Freddie's mind, and no one really knew what was going on until Freddie put it all together, it was done in 5 different studios. Great reaction.

I have been listening to this song since it first dropped in the US and I am still not tired of it. I think it is hard to ever get tired of it because it has so many changes and tonal qualities to the instruments and the vocals. I am glad you finally reacted to this beautiful song. Iconic music. I love the end part where Brian's guitar solo flows seamlessly into the beginning of the piano outro, as if the guitar just turned into a piano. Fantastic musicianship.
I think you would like Inside the Rhapsody . It’s a documentary about the making of this masterpiece , great insights from Brian. Another great reaction.
Lol I'm always in awe of as you mentioned the different hairdo's and fashion ware Freddie wore when on stage. The one that really sticks was when Freddie appeared in a live show in merely a skimpy pair of shorts, barefooted, a neckerchief and cap. I don't think you'd ever see anyone imitating or pulling off the fashion ensembles he and other members of Queen presented. Freddie is seriously missed in this day and age, hence why we are rooted to anything Freddie and Queen. Thank you David for your insightful comments on practically every live reaction you have done on all things Freddie and Queen.
The perfect song played by the perfect reactor. Thank you so much. This song is everything to everybody that hears it. Thank you for your standing ovation at the end. Very appropriate for this classic piece of musical art.
I agree with your mom, Freddie did write deep lyrics. That is the thing with him. He had this image of being all play, etc. Instead he was a deep soul. He had so many layers to his personality. The very few people who really knew him, will tell you the same. Good reaction, many thanks. You look well, glad for you.
David... I went down the Queen and Freddie rabbit hole with you from the beginning. And so happy your still going. Love you🥰❤. Your still the best Reaction Host , Keep it going.
It's so amazing to me that Freddie wrote all of this song except for Brian's solo at the end of the first part. I love the whole song but at the last part where he sings "So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye" and Brian plays that crashing sharp note ..that's my favorite Queen note! (My next best note is the one Brian plays and holds at the end of the third verse of Somebody to Love. ) Any way to have all this in his head and somehow walk the other three band members through it piece by piece is the work of a genius.
Well here at the end I still am covered with chills- I’ve heard it all my life but I hits me every time- you are so right about the way Freddie is different as he sang Boh Rap live and on video- genius!
Had no idea you hadn't reacted to this! Lol. Great reaction. This is the perfect video to the perfect song. When this came out I thought it was the most beautiful song I had ever heard. When I saw the video I thought a hundred things like: Who has a drummer that can sing like that?? And who has a guitar that sounds like that?? And who is this singer that is so freaking talented?? I wore the tape cassette out then got the album. Then got every other previous album. Fan for life. I will never tire of this song. 👑💛🔥
I agree with you about the simplistic approach to modern music and the darkness of Queen's early lyrics. Not all songs can be rainbows, unicorns and hearts. I like a little darkness here and there. 😉 A little guns to go with your roses, so to speak.

The amazing harmonies that you praised from the Intro are all Freddie. Many don't know but Freddie is the only one singing on the Intro. He recorded the main melody and then laid down 4 separate tracks of him harmonizing with himself. Freddie never explained the meaning of this song to anyone (not even to the band). All he ever said we it is made up of 3 different songs that he had been writing but couldn't seem to finish. Then he got this idea to mash them all together by adding some transition and bridges. BTW - John Deacon was young in 1975. He was probably only 23, possibly 24 at the time (he was born in August of 1951). John was the youngest member of Queen, he was only 19 when he joined the group whereas the others were in their mid-20s (22 - 24).

It's great Queen made this video because they were going on tour and couldn't appear on Top Of The Pops This spent 9 weeks at number one in England. Deacy was about 23 or 24 depending what month it was made.
Tyler Warren (percussion/backing vocals) and Neil Fairclough (bass/backing vocals) with Queen + Adam Lambert did some videos last year. They were going to do them just for Brian's and Roger's birthdays but ended up with so many requests that they did one for John and for Freddie too. They're worth a listen. Sorry to react to this one so late! You were saying something like Bohemian Rhapsody would never be made today? You are probably right. There are many brilliant artists that would probably never even be given a recording contract in todays music industry. I've seen other people reacting to artists like E.L.O, 10cc, the Eagles, or more 'eccentric' artists like David Bowie, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel...they can't believe how intricate and layered the lyrics, musicianship and recording engineering are on songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's. IMHO, the music industry today is only interested in how many clicks, likes and streams their songs will get, so they try and make the artists all sound the same...if you sound like someone else who has had a billion streams, maybe you will too? I'm not saying record companies weren't interested in sales back then...you probably know the story about how the record company fought very hard to STOP Bohemian Rhapsody being released as a single, they said at nearly 6 minutes, it was way too long and the radio stations wouldn't play it? Thank God for Freddie's perseverence and to DJ Kenny Everett who probably risked getting sacked, to keep playing it and finally forcing the record company to release it! Can you imagine a world without this fantastic song?! Sorry for the essay! :-)
This was just after Freddie changed his name to Mercury. The costume represents the Winged God Mercury, hence the wings at the cuffs & ankles. At this time Queen were very much in to representing light & dark. Freddie & John would wear white/light colors. Brian & Roger black/dark colors. They were/are very much about visual as well as audio.
The view count did not start again with the remastered version, to mark it reaching one billion, they updated the video to the remastered version to the same feed. If you add all of the views via reactions it is probably closer to 2 billion.
Remember that Queen was never typical. There were lots of simple, dumb songs. Queen always stood out & took a lot of heat for being 'weird' & 'odd.' Freddie took a lot of crap @ his looks, his language, a lot of racism & xenophobia too. Thank God they stuck together, along with friends like Mary, Elton ,Peter Straker & more.
I loved this masterpiece from day one 76' and then I thought it was genius and I can listen to it all day long and never enough thanks for the appreciation to it freddie the master wrote it even Brian may that it was Freddie's baby it took him a lot of time till he went out with it just perfect no body can write any thing like this besides freddie the master
There are no harmonies at the beginning and within parts it's all Freddie,it's his three in one song and there is a documentary about it and how it was made which came out at least Ten years ago with Dr Brian May and I think Roger Taylor, people say about the way they all sing together, this is why it's slightly different live as they couldn't do the beginning nor the middle where they're all singing, and Freddie came up with how he wanted everything too sound so not even the group idea on music
You'll like hang on in there and scandal from the miracle album. PD: To be honest, Bohemian Rhapsody is one of my less favourite queen songs but I still love it.
Freddies off their night at the opera album 75 first time they had any royalties! album also inc Freddies death on two legs at their then ex manager! love Freddie, love somebody to love but I can't agree with Freddie that he wrote that better than this, there's just something that cant be matched with Bo Rap the intro is just Freddie it took 3 weeks in 6 studios to record! how he kept them motivated I dont know no 1 for 9 weeks,TOTPs got so fed up of playing it they added fire to the video! the heavy guitar riff is one of the few Freddie composed on guitar
I love that heavy guitar riff, especially the sharp crashing note right after "spit in my eye". Freddie could do it all...I bet Brian was really impressed!

OMG, Jack - thank you, but where are your headphones! So crucial to this!!!!!!
Another song with amazing Freddie harmonies is "You take my breath away", the studio version - ua-cam.com/video/v_wLNqUz7pM/v-deo.html
My Fairy King is another one - ua-cam.com/video/VeVjEg4znQk/v-deo.html
or a crazy one is Ogre Battle - ua-cam.com/video/7p-5CgWP7Iw/v-deo.html or live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975 - ua-cam.com/video/551gRH3dGEE/v-deo.html or live at the Rainbow, 1974 - ua-cam.com/video/fhIzRul3qFU/v-deo.html
All masterpieces. They're Queen song, what else but masterpieces?
YESSSS - Iferana I think we can persuade David to do all the songs!! I’ve really gotten into MY FAIRY KING lately! Listen to it everyday. 😁
My fairy king ......masterpiece 💝💝💝
@@michaelmalone3089 Howdy Michael - I’m also listening to the live version of THE PROPHETS SONG a lot, too!
@@debramoore7513 to think they would even attempt to play that live....mind blowing Debs💝💝💝💝
@@debramoore7513 It's so good, I totally agree with you.
Really ? I can't believe you haven't reacted this Masterpiece 😁😅 i always love your "jack that f' back!".
I love 70's look of Freddie,The only Guy who hasn't change look is Dr. Brian May and still so cool.
I enjoy your video 😊ohhh,I'm excited for "Don't stop me Now" Reaction
Wow 🥰 beautiful Freddie ❤️ liked already subscribed 😁
Good reaction again, i think that only dogs really can enjoy the high falsetto of Rogerrrr🙈
When you don't use headphones you can't hear the bass :(
Sorry mate, I haven't fixed my sound issues yet with me recently moving house. Will be back to normal soon :)!
@@JackThatBack I'm a super fan of John Deacon and his bass sound, so I miss the bass on your videos hahaha, no worry, i hope you're well, and I see you in the next video
Thank you so much, David, you are the best! Perfect reaction for a perfect song... blessings to you. Love and light. Now, for something different, how about "Man of the Prowl" or maybe Roger and "Dog with a Bone"??
Perfection Made for top of the pops as they were unable to appear.
I'm sure you'll listen to this again and you should but please use earphones so you hear all the nuances x
He likes his bass close ❤️
This was just after Freddie changed his name to Mercury. The costume represents the Winged God Mercury, hence the wings at the cuffs & ankles. At this time Queen were very much in to representing light & dark. Freddie & John would wear white/light colors. Brian & Roger black/dark colors. They were/are very much about visual as well as audio.
Freddie changed his last name before Queen's first album, and a reference to that can be heard in My Fairy King, which is a genius song.
@@piegirl02 Love MY FAIRY KING
The view count did not start again with the remastered version, to mark it reaching one billion, they updated the video to the remastered version to the same feed.
If you add all of the views via reactions it is probably closer to 2 billion.
The harmonies at the beginning of the song is all Freddie over layed. Watch the making off Bohemian rhapsody its on UA-cam Brian's talking about it X
There are no harmonies at the beginning and within parts it's all Freddie,it's his three in one song and there is a documentary about it and how it was made which came out at least Ten years ago with Dr Brian May and I think Roger Taylor, people say about the way they all sing together, this is why it's slightly different live as they couldn't do the beginning nor the middle where they're all singing, and Freddie came up with how he wanted everything too sound so not even the group idea on music
great reaction !! of so many youtubers who make reactions you are the best!
PD react to father to son plis

All the voices in the opening section are done by Freddie.
Freddies off their night at the opera album 75
first time they had any royalties!
album also inc Freddies death on two legs at their then ex manager!
love Freddie, love somebody to love but I can't agree with Freddie that he wrote that better than this, there's just something that cant be matched with Bo Rap
the intro is just Freddie
it took 3 weeks in 6 studios to record! how he kept them motivated I dont know
no 1 for 9 weeks,TOTPs got so fed up of playing it they added fire to the video!
the heavy guitar riff is one of the few Freddie composed on guitar
I love that heavy guitar riff, especially the sharp crashing note right after "spit in my eye". Freddie could do it all...I bet Brian was really impressed!
@@betseyclark2832
Doc on making it
Paraphrasing
Brian Freddie was actually very good on guitar, all that heavy riff was Freddie
He composed all of ogre battle on guitar too
Very quick down strokes
Brian, if you want to try and play that on acustic be my guest!
