I got FX3 mainly for videos but was struggling to setup the best settings for photography, lucky that I found your video. Literally there's no one explaining this stuff !
This is the video I've been looking for! I want a great camera for videos but need to do Real Estate Photography as well. Thanks man I think I'm finally convinced!
Happy I could help!! It really is a great camera. Full feature photography settings as long as you don’t need the EVF or buttons dedicated to photo first cameras. I never had any trouble shooting real estate photography with the FX3.
I was planning to get FX3 but as a hybrid shooter i decided to get another A7IV since i can shoot both photo and video. On top of that i can get plenty of pixels for reframing and croping mg photos on post without loosing much details on the photos.
hi i want to buy this for real estate videos. can i just get the camera with a lens and hohem m2 gimbal? or do i need other equipment to add to it? also what lense do u recommend
Appreciate the talk. I really enjoyed using the A7SIII for video and stills. Save a bunch or weight/size now. I'm looking at selling the A7SIII and getting FX3 or whatever is next. You need still for thumbnails, and more for Instagram content.
Awesome video! Glad I found it, as I need to use my FX3 to shoot headshots of my team. Would love to know what your settings are when shooting portraits!
Yes, it’s the DJI Ravin’s Eye. It can locally stream HD video to your cell phone and allows you to record what happening on your camera screen. Pretty cool.
How does the Panasonic S5 compare to FX3 Sony? I am looking to get into video and get smooth footage like I see in the Sony FX range , I will probably get a gimbal also, but I am on a budget and I don’t want to spend £4000 on Sony fx body alone. Can. You recommend anything , looking around £1500-£2000
Hey David! Where are you located! I'm selling a full photo/video kit for around 2000! A Lumix G9 with Leica 8-18 Lens, and Battery grip and cage!! Great for photos and videos!
I would recommend the Sony a7 IV all the way! Great autofocus is important to me so even tho the Panasonics have great image quality their generally lack luster autofocus keeps me from buying their cameras. I think 10 bit video is a must for someone looking to deliver top quality content. I used the A7 iii for years and you can get some good video out of it but the a7 IV is next level.
Great video! Definitely a case by case basis using FX3 for photography. In my experience I'm finding that there are clients who prioritize megapixels and optics, and others who prioritize other things such that photos delivered could be as simple as stills from a video with a good color correction/grade. Personally I enjoy working with the latter as they tend to focus on volume and consistency so you can build a relationship with them. For personal use, more than enough for sure
That’s a great question and crazy how difficult it was to figure out how to adjust iso settings on the FX3. I’ll make a new video showing how to do it.
I moved from my photography camera to FX3. Because this is a video camera with full function of photography features except EVF. The intervalometer is kept there to make true timelapse. A video camera with 11 burst still shot. And 16bit video HDMI out for future proofing.
I was just messing around with my Fx3 and taking photos of my dogs the other day. Using it for photos such as thumbnails and some social medial makes perfect sense! Looked like a fantastic set to shoot at, that ford GT 🤤
You know, I don’t have any pro experience with astrophotography. I actually sold the FX3 but from my extensive use with it using it for professional work in both photo and video it had a full feature photography firmware from what I saw. I owned both the A7S III and the FX3 and it had all the photo features as the A7S III without it being a photo focused body.
I never personally tried it but I couldn’t see why not. I recently sold the FX3 so I can’t test it for you. Sorry! But I owned the A7S III and FX3 and the operating systems were the same for the most part.
Yeah, tech / cameras changes quickly. I actually ended up selling the FX3 and bought two A7IV’s. If you don’t need the 4K 120fps then the A7IV can fit the bill. I hear the A7C ii is coming out this year. That’ll be Sony’s response to the S5II. I can imagine the price being similar.
The S5II is a huge step for Panny. The thing about it is though that these manufacturers go back n forth, they mostly know what’s coming from each other (especially since Sony makes and sells the sensors to a lot of the major players like Panasonic and Nikon), so they have the next models already in development two or so years in advance. Sony already has a response to the S5II. And Panasonic is doing R&D right now for the response to their response. Moral of the story is pick a system that truly excites you for whatever reason, and stick with it and enjoy it. Even if your camera model doesn’t compete or beat with a competitor, the manufacturer WILL release something that does, in time. Don’t stress too much on it. All modern cameras are simply incredible and if you can’t make amazing content with ANY of the current cameras, then you gotta reassess what you’re doing. What a time to be a filmmaker and/or photographer!!!
Yeah, specially if you shoot more video than photos. I’m actually shooting a 60/40 photos vs video so I have actually switched back over to a photo first Sony camera body.

The online FX3 manual says you can attach a Sony flash to the hot shoe. There is even a phillustration oto showing the FX3 with a flash.
Hk ,will you please suggest me a camera for professional photoshoot please. potrait and fashion photography. A camera with good low light performance.
Nice video. What monitor are using to shoot outside in bright sunlight?
Any way you can share your photography settings with the FX3
That’s a great idea! I’ll make a new video showing how I set it up and give a file away to my settings.
This video was exactly what I was looojg for. I am wanting to start using my FX3 for social media photos. Thanks!!!!
Question I set all my video favs for the custom 1,2,3 would I have to sacrifice one of those to set up a photography mode??
hi what are you settings? aperatue iso ect
what is that gizmo on top of fx3?
It’s the DJI Ravens Eye that works with the Ronin gimbals.
@@calebcollinshomes thank you
what is your file format and jpeg quality ?
So its good to invest on fx3 ? I love videography and photography too ?😢
Hi, which kind of format and extension photo may we have shooting still with FX3? THx
For some reason when I’m in manual mode it doesn’t allow me to change my ISO because of some reason that I can’t figure out
I should make a quick video showing how to adjust your iso settings. It’s pretty bazar how hard they made it to adjust the iso settings on the fx3.
@@NestedPhotoSchool yes I don’t get it…it’s like manual but not really? I am sure there is a way.
What about the format ? you get a raw ? jpg ?

Fx 30 is good for wildlife photography
I don’t own an FX30. I did have one on order until I learned how badly the crippled the photo features. I should make a video about it.

How do you use your phone as a monitor? what's the set up?
Yeah, in this video I was using the DJI Ravens eye. Super dope!
Great video. Can you use external flash?
Yes you can!
I currently using a Sony A7Riii, a A7IV and an FX3. so I have all basics covered. great video!
I love it! That's a fantastic line up you have going! I have a video coming up soon on the A7IV. Such a rad camera.
What would you use for straight video of the 3 ?
when you take a photo in normal light and how come it gets bright and perfectly lit for real-estate?
Yeah, it’s all about the HDR processing and how you edit the images in LR.

Looks like the FX3 seem like more then enough, as long as your not cropping too much🔥
Totally! I was super surprised! I didn't find myself missing the EVF almost at all.
curious, what is that connected on the fx3? a video recorder?
Yes, it’s the DJI Ravin’s Eye. It can locally stream HD video to your cell phone and allows you to record what happening on your camera screen. Pretty cool.

I cant manually control my iso in any picture mode and still manage to take some sharp photos. Wish i can control iso .
That’s a great question and crazy how difficult it was to figure out how to adjust iso settings on the FX3. I’ll make a new video showing how to do it.
@@NestedPhotoSchool omg i long for that video with many others
wich lent is that
you just blew my mind using an iphone for a monitor. can't believe I've never seen that setup before
We’ll thank you! It is nice having a larger screen to view the shots. Downside is it adds weight. 🙂

What is maximum sync speed for FX3? Try to shoot with flash , 1/250 I have those black lines..but why? 1/250 suppose to be good
Hmm! 🤔 I didn’t have that issue. I recently sold the FX3 so I can do any further testing to help you. Sorry.
What is phone holder on camera?
Hey! It is the Ulanzi ST-06 Smartphone Tripod Mount. I got it from B&H.
Is there a speedlite that you would recommend? I’m a beginner in photography and I’m curious if that would be a needed option for this camera.
I use some godox flashes that are good enough to get the job done. Plus a remote trigger for off camera work.
Good vid my friend but that UA-camr music…. It’s painful now
Hahaha! I hear you! I’ll try to be more creative with the music next time.
Why did you buy a FX3? Isn't it the same as owning an A7SIII?
what did you use to record the evf on the fx3?
I'm using the DJI Raven's Eye. It's a cool tool. I may have to make a video on it.
I was gonna ask the same thing. 😁
@@NestedPhotoSchool yes please make video on it many people what to know it for sure
Why I can’t edit the RAW files ? 😢
Hmm! 🤔 What editing software are you using? I edit the RAW files all the time in Lightroom.
@@NestedPhotoSchool same, lightroom cant read that, idk why 😭
@@dekdonn Oh man, that's wild. Maybe check to make sure your adobe camera raw package is running on the latest update.
Hey, you do real estate without a flash???!! Can it use with a trigger???
I was just messing around with my Fx3 and taking photos of my dogs the other day. Using it for photos such as thumbnails and some social medial makes perfect sense! Looked like a fantastic set to shoot at, that ford GT 🤤
Dude, that's great! No doubt. It was a dream location for the photo shoot. Amazing car collection here in Oklahoma City.

Wait, you didn't try to set up a flash!
yeah need a viewfinder, you can take stills with a monitor but your guessing
Not true at all. Get a great monitor for video and use it for photography. It works perfect.
Amazing thank youuuuu!!!!
Just got my a7iv, Loving it so far. that and the Sigma 24-70 are a match made in Gearven.
Killer! I have a video coming soon on the A7IV. Such a great camera!
@@NestedPhotoSchool feels like the 12,800 ISO noise ceiling compared to 3,200 on a7iv makes the a7s3 the better camera.
Bro... love the content, just a little correction, its FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES.. not intensive purposes. just for future reference.
Haha, good catch!! I knew I jacked it up in editing. I'll get it next time. ;-)
It is good video 👍 fx3 is very nice camera, have good work bro 👏
Appreciate it! Thanks for the comment.

does this guy do real estate photography?
Yes I do! Full time for the last 10 years.

I still can't justify the a7S3 when the fx3 exists. Same guts but more features.
Yeah, specially if you shoot more video than photos. I’m actually shooting a 60/40 photos vs video so I have actually switched back over to a photo first Sony camera body.
