I absolutely LOVE mine and would be lying if I didn’t say that the BTS of the cycle film in which your C70 died (RIP) didn’t give me the nudge I needed to buy this platform. Keep up the great work, Danny!
I've been team Canon for ages, and although I still use an R5 for my photogrpahic work, I've been using the FX3 for all my video work and it's a game changer. Literally use the same setup as you and the image for how minimalistic it is I feel is unrivalled at this point. Dual native ISO is also AMAZING for run and gun as you can take a more subtractive lighting approach vs having to artificially create things, especially in darker situations.

Thanks for the vid bro. I love your honest, humble approach. It's truly refreshing. Concerning codecs, I've found that in certain cases the XAVC HS 10-bit 4:2:0 codec actually isn't depending on what computer you use. I'm currently on an M1 Mac Mini and the performance is great. I'm sure there's a difference between this and the XAVC-SI codec. But considering how much space is saved on the HS codec, I find it to be a happy medium between high-quality footage and efficient file sizes. Ultimately it'll depend on what you're shooting but its a good option to have.

definitely echo the weight note on this platform. I have a few cages (8sinn, Tilta, SmallRig, and KondorBlue) coupled to various permutations of handles. I've found that finding the center of balance is key for where you end up mounting things (I don't generally use the Sony XLR handle as I'm mostly using wireless via Deity/Rode) so I generally have my Ninja hanging over the front of the camera body and about 1/3rd the way up on the Sigma 24-70mm I use. obviously, your mileage may vary :)
I love his color grade. I'm kinda confused on which frames were shot on FX6 and the FX3. If most of it was shot on FX3 his grading skills make it look like a 10K cinema camera.
When using the black pro mist filter, how do you recommend adding nd? Do you use a variable nd filter on top? If so, which one do you recommend? Thanks Danny! 🤙
Anyway to do a quick 2022 settings video seems a lot of things changed with the firmware update new to the Sony and love your work would definitely appreciate this or a quick note would help
When you're grading your footage, are you converting to rec709 first, and then grading from there? Beyond the promist, your footage has a cinematic desaturated look. Just curious if thats from desaturating on a rec709 conversion lut, or if it's just not adding a lot of saturation back into the log footage. Awesome info as always man! Go Birds!
Yeah, I use the Phantom LUTs, and you can safely just apply them and be 95% done with your grading. Just a little tweaking after the fact is all you need.
@@DannyGevirtz Just checked out Joel's website and his videos on the creation of his LUTs. He's fantastic! Thanks for sharing these, I especially love the rolloff in the skys.
Just a warning! It's about fx6 but.. 2 friends of mine had an issue while shooting 4k120 at v90 cards. Basically a7s3 does not allow you to shoot this format, but fx6 does and it seems fine. But both friends had an issue which was random damage of card database, so they lost all their footage
As someone who came from the FX9 and downscaled to the FX3, if you put a Black Pro Mist filter on the FX3 to soften it just a bit, the image is virtually indistinguishable from the FX9 (at least to my eye and I've looked at the images A LOT). I was a little worried I'd feel like I was losing out on quality, but I haven't felt that at all and have been really pleased. FX3 also makes shooting S-Log3 a lot less confusing than the FX9, which I like a lot. It's a great little camera.
It's not. I had an FX9 as well and ran comparisons with the FX6 and BMPCC6K Pro. There's a big difference to my eye just from the 6K sensor. There's also a softer highlight roll off and filmic feel to the footage in general. Color SOOC is more desaturated as well, it's very similar to the Gen 5 blackmagic color science, actually. The FX9 sensor is beautiful, and that difference is the only thing that holds me back from getting an FX3/6, because it feels quite a bit more "video" and the image doesn't have that same sharpness to it. The 4K sensor excels at that 12.8k+ ISO sensitivity and readout speed, but isn't very impressive in terms of image quality when put next to the 6K sensors.
@@dna8269 interesting. Are you using filters to help take the digital edge off the image on the FX3? I felt it looked way too digital in a lot of the test footage I saw. But a Pro Mist (I generally use 1/4 for fashion/beauty) and 1/8 on corporate or fitness, softens that up and makes the skin tones a lot gentler. The color science is definitely quite different. I personally don't hate the FX3's more true to life (versus slight green tint) look, but that's very up to taste. I was just looking at my FX9 footage compared to FX3, and in a 1 to 1 scale (not cropping in) I can't see a difference on my 5K Retina display. Not saying it's not there, I just literally can't see it.
Would love to get recommendations for larger batteries for the FX3. You showed you're battery pack in the vid but it is not in the list of your gear. Appreciate it!!!
but did you finish that black cherry sparkling water?!?!?!?!
Clearly not! Never have, never will.

Very interesting input, btw do you dial down the details of your picture profile or keep it at 0 and let the Black Pro Mist do its job?
@@elieh.studio I just keep everything at 0 and let the Black Pro Mist do its job.
Can you please give us details about all the parts you add to the handheld rig ?
Thanks Danny 🙏 I think this is really similar to my fx6 👍🏻 best cinematic greetings from germany 🇩🇪
Thanks as always man!
Yo! You think you could do a video on the best cinematic settings for the A7iii
