The big question is - how do I flip between Video and say Aperture Photo mode with a single click without accessing Mode button and turning the wheel. I was not able to find this option.
Is there any way to re-map the MODE button to a function button like the trashcan? I hate when I’m shooting and I wanna quickly tap mode but I can’t reach it
This video was EXTREMELY helpful to me (as a fairly new filmmaker). It has a ton of helpful photo information, which is why I have an FX3 because I mainly use it for video. Your information provided several tips for me to venture and use it for photos now without being totally lost. Thanks...(I'm now a subscriber).
You're very welcome! I have a few more ideas to share on the FX3 in the future after spending a lot more time with the camera in the field lately. Nothing beats that sony minimum shutter auto iso feature for photos though!
@@BrandonShi hmmm I don’t think I ever have. The reason is it’s doing a clear image zoom with it. And since it’s only 12mp you can’t do a crop sensor mode. So just need to crop in post for photos.
Very simple question : I don’t know how to remove the rec 709 display LUT in photo mode, when I switch from video to photo I always need to toggle off that option, otherwise the screen make the pictures look like garbage, and it’s over saturated. How do you do that?
@@CreativeVideoTips awesome? Thanks for the quick reply! I was thinking of getting the a7siii as a real estate photographer and videographer but I don’t use the view finder for what I do. Didn’t want to buy the fx3 without knowing it could do a 9 stop exposure bracket lol
Great information in this video! I just got my FX3 and when I follow along (2:58) my FN button does not display the same layout as your example. My bottom left cell shows a non-selectable flash icon. How would I activate ISO(A)SS to show on the function layout grid?
Glad it helped! You're going to love that camera. Yeah one thing I did not cover is how to setup the quick function menu's to your liking - I was concerned the video might get too long on this topic - although if there is enough interest I might do a full camera settings breakdown. I don't have the camera in front of me right now, but is in a similar section to setting custom buttons in that yellow setup menu except its called something like "function" menu. And then to find where your iso auto min. ss setting is location it should be in - menu - exposure/color/exposure/iso auto min. ss - I really love this way of shooting stills in aperture priority
@@CreativeVideoTips another good tip. I’ll look into that function menu setting when I’m in front of the FX3 again. Breakdowns on settings are always helpful for those of us who are new to the camera/brand. Appreciate it!
Have an FX3 coming today and just subbed - great content! Do you have any links anywhere to download the settings for the FX3? I see other links on YT for the a7s3 but they won't work on the FX3. Thx!
Perfect video and exactly what i was looking for. In fact I believe I believe I may have already watched this video before and found myself searching for it again 😂
Hi Chadwick, I'm a Chadwick too! I keep running into this alert message even though I'm not shooting in log: "This operation or setting not available as follows Log Shooting". I'm exploring the Photo mode of my new FX3, and when I try to use the back dial to get into shutter whilst in Manual I get that message. I can get into the menus and set the shutter that way, but I want to set it with a dial and the camera isn't letting me. Does anyone know what's up with this message?
Hi Phil - it hasn't been noticeable, but I guess I haven't been listening fo r it. I'll check it out later today and let you know if I can hear it much.
I have mine on "auto" and when it is running I can hear it a foot away - but it is so quiet compared to any other sounds in any environment I would film in that it's not any concern for projects I work on
@@CreativeVideoTips thanks so much. I have a feeling if you have to go to listen for it then mine is not right. It’s being exchanged later this week thankfully
@@CreativeVideoTips cool, mine is like that but fan comes on straight away and never goes off, also when i pick the camera up I can hear the fan buzz a bit like its clipping inside on the plastic or something. Am i going insane lol?
@@CreativeVideoTips Hi, well yes, I have Lightroom Classic CC, I think it's the 2019 version. I don't know if my laptop can handle the latest version for Lightroom. I can't get my files into Lightroom to edit them...I will try with a newer version of Lightroom
Not great!!! Quickly change the mode means you have to press Mode scroll the wheel between Video and PhotoA ?! That’s not quick and you gave no tips to program button for that

You might need to make sure you're in the movie mode setting first, instead of a photo mode option

Thanks, not that I’m aware of you have to click the mode button and dial it over.

Does the camera have AEB? Preferably 9 exposure bracketing
yep it certainly does, same as most all recent sony cameras, you can do it continuous or click by click too - under the drive menu.

Can you shoot bracketed photos for the fx3?
I see it does the in camera HDR but will it shoot AEB, 3-5 brackets?
Yep it sure can, it pretty much has the same menu and functions of all the current Sony mirrorless cameras.
Can you shoot HDR bracketed on here?
Yes it’s under the burst selection modes

I am in photo mode manual and it wil not let me change shutter speed. I can only change the shutter speed in video mode. Not sure whats wrong
hmm, i'm not sure - is their an icon indicating that the Tv is locked? I tend to lock mine in video mode a lot so I don't bump it on accident.
Do you have noticeable fan noise from a foot or two away? I can hear mine like a small lower volume refrigerator. Even if it’s cold and not recording
