    Your sound is unbelievably good. You've got a very full and broad character.

    I like to imagine you were annoyed that the orchestra was rehearsing without you and so let your angry out by playing the Creation 😂

      Haha! As I remember I was killing time backstage while the tacet movements were being rehearsed

      @@mikeszabo5631 Oh gosh, tacets are something. On a musical I was doing there was five tacets in a row so didn’t really have much to do

    Double and triple tonguing is something I never quite got right on trumpet..very nice. I played oboe for a while which of course has a double reed like the bassoon...my question is, you mention these parts in tandem with bassoon- do they also triple tongue with a double reed? I don’t recall ever noticing?

    • @mikeszabo5631
      @mikeszabo5631  5 років тому +3

      Phil Taylor I think they can double tongue on double reeds, if I remember correctly. As a brass player its something you need to work on once you get to a certain level.

      @@mikeszabo5631 Great playing, Mike! Is Bach your main squeeze, figuratively speaking? :) I like Bach bass bones and I have an opportunity to buy one with a Corporation bell and newer-design wraps. Just wondering whether you think the Bach is generally suitable for all-around playing.

    I have the same Bach 50B2L, but whats that extension on your Eb pipe? Where did you get it from?

    • @mikeszabo5631
      @mikeszabo5631  6 років тому

      Knight Galahad, it was on there when I bought it a couple years ago. The horn is from late 70s-early 80s. It is just two extenders for the existing Eb tubes, I can get a low D in first.

    • @izzywakefield72
      @izzywakefield72 6 років тому

      Damn, I've been snaked. My case never came with the extensions nor were they on the Eb pipes. Thanks for the quick reply though!

    Have you got any tips for the leaps to the high notes? Particularly the octave G jump I can’t manage at all

      Make sure you hear the octave in your head, slow first then fast

    How do you like the Doug Elliot mouthpiece? do you mind letting us know which setup you use

      That particular DE is a 115/K/9 which I like to use on occasion for stuff like the Creation. The high range on it is a bit crisper and easier for me than my usual Laskey 93D. Thanks for asking!

      Thanks for taking the time to respond :-) That's similar to what I'm about to receive, large rim but a sensible depth to the cup. Beautiful playing by the way, I've my eye on a couple of MSO concerts this season so I'm looking forward to hearing you play.

    Hi Mike! Which trombone do you play in the video?

    • @mikeszabo5631
      @mikeszabo5631  Рік тому +1

      This is my Corp 50 from the late 70s/early 80s that I sold awhile ago. It was super responsive and had a great high reg which was why I played it on Creation. Sadly I sold it!
