  • 4 tents that I love but I need to pick one for my Fiordland wapiti/elk ballot hunting NZ block 2023. MSR Hubba Hubba, MSR Access 2, MSR Front Range or RAB Ridge Raider.
    This was way hard. Every tent has something over the next backpacking tent.
    Fiordland is one of the hardest placing on earth to hunt. Worst weather and crazy steep,
    It will test your self-worth and gear.
    4 season tents vs 3 season....what dose this truly mean'
    MSR Hubba Hubba nx? MSR Access 2? MSR Front Range? Rab Ridge Raider ? my 4 ultimate backpacking tents for the outdoors. Hiking or hunting.in the back country
    Any tent with MSR or RAB on it is going to be next level but which one works for your big game hunt or hiking in the outdoors?
    If you are looking to buy a new backpacking tent for the back country then this video could be for you

      What an epic comment!!! thank you so much.
      How was that dragonfly, so unreal. He was the true star of the show.
      Just did one on the Rab latok Summit EP5 S2 "What's in my pack"

    I usually don't post comment but you had me smile wide for the whole 18min long video. Thanks for this excellent review! I've just bought the Hubbahubba 2 because Access isn't in my budget and for what im doing it'll do. Thanks a lot for your experience sharing and the good mood! Safe travels to you!

      Thanks for this incredible message. How insane was that dragonfly 😄. I've actually gone back to using my hubbahubba due to it's simple setup.
      I just love how the 4 corner pegs are utilized for tent and fly. As a solo hunter it's sooooo much easier to set up in the wind.
      Thanks mega for watching. More vids out soon

    Excellent review & content mate!!! Great tent selection. I've been using the Hubba Hubba for over 2 years now. Had it in 4 seson environments but 3 is the right classification for it. I'm very satisfied with its performance for everything you've highlighted. Best wishes & safe travels!!!

      Thanks mate. I love the the Hubba Hubba and how the 4 corner pegs line up for tent and Fly. Wish they did this on the Access which would be way more Solo friendly in the wind.

    Did you know that those red/silver rings on the hubba hubba fly sheet are ment to attach to the tent poles not the pegs.
    9:25 for reference.
    Attach said rings to the corresponding side of the tent, they're color coded to line up the inner and outer zips.

    I’d take the hubba hubba and the Rab 2/3 tarp to put over it, dry area outside and a back up shelter if something happened to the tent

    • @JUSTWILDNZ
      @JUSTWILDNZ  Рік тому +2

      I like your way of thinking. The Hubba Hubba fly is easier to put up in the wind as well due to the 4 peg system.

    • @JUSTWILDNZ
      @JUSTWILDNZ  10 місяців тому +1

    I am interested in the front range but is it possible to pitch it both inner and fly at the same time?

    • @JUSTWILDNZ
      @JUSTWILDNZ  Рік тому +1

      This is such an epic question, I'll test it and let you know.
      The Front Range is one of my fav MSR shelters and not pushed in NZ for some reason. One tip is I get far greater stability with cutting a wooden pole than binding two trekking pools together....might just be the poles I'm using?

    • @EverythingWasGreat
      @EverythingWasGreat Рік тому +1

      @JUST WILD NZ Thanks. I would be using it above the treeline with my family so i need a strong tent that i can rely on. Would probably buy a dedicated center pole.

    • @JUSTWILDNZ
      @JUSTWILDNZ  Рік тому +1

      Was easier to put up with bug inner first but I'm sure with practice it would work.
      This shelter has so much headroom but (like all good things) comes at a cost which is that it's not great in high wind but amazing in snow due to it's steep sides.

    • @JUSTWILDNZ

      Rab saw the vid and sent me theirs so in EP4 I had a MSR V Rab and went more into "What's in my pack" in EP4
      Never had this epic Rab tent when shooting this episode. The Rab won mainly because I was solo and the speed of putting it up.
      The Access2 has way more room, more breathable and close to the same weight it's just the fly when solo can be tricking to get up in stormy conditions and that Fiordland rain.
      MSR Access 2 is such an incredible tent and I love it,
      If there was 2 of us, hands down I would have taken the Access2. Plus I wanted to set up the Rab tent to see if it would fail in Fiordland conditions as it's not made for low altitude/wet conditions....Rab still kick ass in EP7 & 8 which blows my mind.
