The production rate of a firewood processor depends greatly on log diameter, log length, round length and cycle time of the machine. So if you are running tree length saw logs of large diameter using a 4 way wedge and cutting 24 inch pieces of firewood. That is going to be much quicker than running small diameter 8' logs, cutting them with a 8 way wedge to 12". So when stating the production rate of a firewood processor one should specify the conditions used to determine the number.

hi there i found this interesting , i have run several processors with out problems .like the rounds not dropping into the spliter area just right , i am guessing those were longer than 16 inchers to prevent that , now it was also interesting the pile of sawdust . i get that much doing 2 cords , but longer rounds may be why .its also to me should be man hours per cord , it was fast i will give you that , but . good show john

I'm surprised those machines use a chainsaw instead of a shear. You wouldn't need to sharpen often and no sawdust.

Do you know if anyone uses a shear for them?

@@TimberwolfEquip Remet RP300 is one. The chomper was a really cool design but the company went under. It sheared the log then used the shear blade to shove the wood though a splitter in one motion.
