I hated the show since i saw that and after years i am able to watch it again, crying
The thing is, what this episode doesn't do is downplay Kousei's abuse. Instead what they show is him saying goodbye to his mom and the painful memories, leaving only her legacy inside him. Kousei knows and understands the fact that if his mother never became sick, she never would have been abusive. His mother was kind, and someone who sought desperate measures because she was desperate. This doesn't make abusing your child okay, but it is ultimately up to Kousei on how he deals with it, and he decided to move on--choosing love in the midst of sorrow as he plays Love's Sorrow
Exactly! I'll add that Kousei also was only remembering the abuse and hate he felt from her mother and towards her. In this episode he remembered that there were good times and also that his mom really loved him, despite her abuse.
Yeah, it also starts to show more paralels between his mom and Kaori, because in front of death, his mom fell into despair, she died inside and was spreading death around her, bringing darkness to her surroundings especially to her son. Kaori on the other hand became even more alive inside of herself, deciding to live the most she could, to shine the most she could before her passing, bringing light and life to her surroundings and especially to kousei.

“Will it reach him/her” is my favorite theme in the entire show. This show made me pick up the piano and I love it. Every time I play, I ask this question, even if nobody can hear me. Truly an amazing show

@@IKronosI I don’t think a lot of reactors are interested in slice-of-life anime. They’re also not empathetic enough to look past the flowery dialogue to understand the characters, I feel.

I watched this series way back in 2015 and have never revisited it again until your reaction videos, that's how much pain it caused me, even to this day. I remember being depressed for 3 days straight after finishing it I hate it so much :,)

Honestly, I had to watch Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso about 3 times just to finish it. It was such an beautiful series. Especially I liked Twinkle Little Star & Love's Sorrow the most. Beautiful reaction on this episode. I am truly greatful.

I like playing music but I’m not pro at it. I learned in this episode is instruments are just instruments… the music that actually playing is you. Instrument is the mic for your heart. They’re things that can’t be said but can be convey from music.

Kousei and me is simillar. I have abusive mother back then, and bit traumazing till this day. I know It's our responsibility as an adult to forgive the past and get wise regarding this repercussion. But still its haunting me a lot.... But later i know that my granfather was abusing my mother in the past, so I think this is maybe genetic nor the result of nurtured children. Maybe someday we'll get along completely, even its complicated. But I'll never repeated my mom mistake to my future children.
I highly recommend Violet Evergarden if you like slice of life and good story telling. It does take place in a different world/time period but it's overall a story of an ex child soldier trying to figure out her place outside of war. The setting is like post ww2 industrial. I would put Your Lie in April and Violet Evergarden in my top 5 animes for the animation, the story, the characters and the feels. Thanks for your content! I'm new to your channel and I've been enjoying the videos i've seen so far :D

yah also questionong now who's the writer it's so deep and how this can combine some human relatioship and music .. is the writer also musician or classical anthusism idk... but its touch me really well about a boy with PTSD
