as a reminder this is a REWATCH reaction, because my initial reaction footage got corrupted 😢 it was really nice to rewatch this episode though and discuss my thoughts :) episode 16 will be out next week!
I think how he broke up with Tsubaki was good because he knew she wasn’t really into him and that she was being too nice to break up herself, so he’s doing it in a way where he takes the blame and doesn’t make her feel embarrassed. Truly a chad move imo
That scene of Kaori unable to stand up made me bawled my eyes out, just the feeling of impotence and not being able to do stuff you usually did, I think it may be one of the hardest and most shattering feelings. For me is one of the most powerful scenes in the show.
I think the way Tsubakis ex broke her up was pretty good, he willingly tried to make himself look like someone bad, even when he was the only one getting hurt in that relationship, to try not make her feeling guilty.
I never took what the guy who was with Tsubaki said* as a bad thing. I always took it as him giving Tsubaki the out because he knows how she feels and he know she won't take the step that needs to be taken. They were cliched statements, and he seemed matured enough that I do not think he would use them normally. At least that is the vibe I got.
How could anyone normal "hate" on Tsubaki, she's probably the best person anyone could wish to have as a friend. I also think her feelings towards Kousei are only partly pure romantic. It's also the fear of losing someone who was always there her whole life and also realizing, that others around are "moving on". And yourself not knowing what to do with your life.
Man, rewatching the show through your videos, I forgot just how explicit they are with Kaori's decline. Like, there are no red herrings or guesswork. They really do just basically say "Yeah, that's where it's going. Prepare yourself."
Every time I see the last scene, it reminds me of my late father. He had MS, and every so often, his legs would not work, amd he would collapse just like she did.
Middle school for me was forty years ago. That was a hard time and I readily admit I was nowhere near close to being able to process such things as love and jealousy and rejection. We don't get the choice to do a run-through with maturity. We get tossed in the deep end by puberty and are forced to learn on the fly. Hating on young people for immaturity is easy but cruel and is often done by adults whose lives show they are no better or wiser.
A couple of things I'd like comment: 1) 11:07 Do you mean the blonde girl with the pigtails? We do actually know who's sister she is, I'm guessing you already found out by now 2) Tsubaki best girl Enjoying the reactions so far, this was my first anime and still my favorite to this day
It's spring, it's time to watch the lie again. The heartbreaking thing is that the show is presented so vividly and full of colour and life. As the show goes on, Kousei remains as bright and saturated in palette throughout. Kaori's colour fades as the show goes on.
In Japanese culture, saying "Tsuki ga kirei" or " The moon is beautiful" is a poetic way of saying "I love you". But I don't know If Kousei was saying that intentionally though...
in Japan they are very strict regarding the days and hours of work. Doctors in Japan work Monday through Friday. on weekends only the nurses are there. maybe when Kaori fell it was a weekend
This is a long shot, but since you really enjoy this show, I would like to recommend the following anime: Ef a tale of Memories, and its sequel Ef a tale of Melodies. They are not really comedic as Your Lie in April, but there's so much good music in it, and heartbreak that follows an interesting narrative.
Japan Grades, 1st, 2nd, 3rd year middle school are equivalent to 7th 8th and 9th grade in the U.S. High school in Japan is equivalent to 10th 11th and 12th grade in the U.S.
It is hard to see the scene of someone you are close with in the hospital... Try to visualize that he or she was already fighting and enduring this illness for maybe months or years, but still, when he or she sees you they smile and tries to be cheerful and accommodating to you knowing this illness is already eating them away. Its hard to accept and swallow the truth and the scenario
*Big Spoilers* This episode starts the only thing that this show that I love so much does and that makes me a little frustrated: Tsubaki's dramatic arc. I feel like she should have been the one to break up with Senpai (even though she has something to learn after hurting him). After that I don't see her actions being not enough to draw Arima's attention to her. Even though I was rooting for her at no point did she seem to be even close to looking like a real option for Arima. In the end, if she stays with Arima, it won't be because of her actions, but because Kaori died. I had the feeling that it became a kind of "consolation prize" for Arima. I love this anime so much but I hoped that Tsubaki would really awaken something in Arima or that she would get over the feeling and move on even if it was for the two to meet later and fall in love with each other.
I know this is super late but Tsubaki getting dumped was probably something her crush did to force her to confront her feelings. When I watched it, I got the feeling he knew how Tsubaki felt about Kousei and wanted her to be with he actually liked. I’m not sure if he made up the part about liking someone else but it still needed to happen.
! don't like the screams in agony... it messes up with my brain. If you know Overlord, there's a villain named Clementine, I know she's evil but her scream genuinely radiates "I don't wanna die yet"
I’m not sure if it’s the same for Japan but for guys to show their emotions is considered a taboo in Asian culture. It gives an impression that the guy too feminine. The only emotions men in Asian culture might be anger. But for girls to express their emotions is totally fine. So there are some bias in Asian culture
2:59 There's actually this trend in anime/manga composition regarding a love triangle of 2 females and 1 male. It's that the male protagonist always end up with the long-haired female and the short-haired female gets friendzoned or rejected. And I think Your Lie In April follows that "rule" as well.
@@Ray-rz8hb unfortunately, it was never stated in the manga or the anime who the protagonist ended up with, so that will remain a speculation or perhaps a mere imagination.
Tsubaki, Kaori... I think the both of them are amazing ❤️ but i love Kaori more she's just in another level (to me) and how she's being strong facing her sickness while also helping others while she's suffering that's just insane... And the most upsetting thing is that she's only 17yo i mean come on this is not Fair😭

I think it's so sweet that Kousei only seems to play Clair de Lune around Tsubaki...like it's just their thing

People who hate on Tsubaki have never had conflicting feelings for someone. It sucks wrestling with your conscience and heart. I feel for her.
Tsubaki threw out her feeling, while Kousei playing Debussy's Clair De Lune. What a perfect moment
"More sadness" she says...she's not ready for the next ones 😭
Man, rewatching the show through your videos, I forgot just how explicit they are with Kaori's decline. Like, there are no red herrings or guesswork. They really do just basically say "Yeah, that's where it's going. Prepare yourself."
Debussy is one of my favorite composers, and the scene with Tsubaki fits Clair De Lune perfectly.

Ngl I also kinda like this concept of not having timed reactions and giving you more freedom to pause and express your thoughts
When Kousei plays Clair De Lune it really fits the romantical theme between Tsubaki and Kousei.

I hold this episode near and dear to me due to how I ended up falling in love with Classical music especially with Claire De Lune.
