I love how Linkin Park mixes rap versus with a metal chorus. That's my favorite part about them.
And that shit got old after 2 albums so they changed their sound.
I wouldn't have gotten tired of it even if all of their albums kept that style.
Doesn't matter, the band got tired of it. Would've been extremely lazy of them to keep the same style, yet everyone would've ate it up. Gotta commend them for taking risks rather than just resting on their laurels and playing it safe.

Shinoda is underrated I love his rhymes and Chester and him blended rap and hard rock seamlessly. I'll always miss Chester but we are blessed to have all his music. Even tho so many of their songs are born from pain and suffering they can be quite uplifting and at the very least you learn something from the message and have a good time rocking out or singing along. Music is beautiful especially chesters.

I tend to think of Hybrid Theory and Meteora as two sides of the same coin, where Hybrid Theory lies on the more metal side and Meteora more on the rap side of early LP, especially if you account the connection between this song and High Voltage. That's why the following albums were so different (but still awesome) I think, LP were never gonna stay idle in their tested formula, they grew but kept their soul.

Now this song feels just bitter... Chester was an idol for so many people, so many adults, so many kids, literally the only famous person I really deeply miss... For so many people, for me also, Chester and Linkin Park was a huge part on the way from being a child to adulthood, something that was there all the time.

LOL! Just my personal opinion. They arent producing the same kind of music they started with, which is the reason I love their early stuff.
The band always wanted to be original and make the hybrid of metal, rock and rap. Unfortunately they have strayed from the way they chose just when they started to make Techno/Pop.
Probably LP have seen that their music gets less popular in this generation and they needed to match up. If they would stay like that Linkin Park could be my favorite band after SOAD (the band that is total opposite of LP).
There's really no sense in changing the music genre. At first you get more and more fans that are in love with the band and then you just sell out throwing all your fans away. Why? To get more fame? One of their songs was even used in Twilight, there's no greater catastrophe than this.

killed himself on my birthday... his songs like this one have been really getting to me lately. I dont know where i would be without his music. Along with many other artists, his work has taken me off that edge you may never return. It's really crazy because still to this day, these songs speak to me. Depression is no joke. Sometimes you have no where to turn but to an artists work that explains the emotion you feel inside. Because nobody else gets it. Or cares to.

Mike Shinoda was going through his record collection when he got the idea to use a Japanese flute called the shakuhachi. Chester Bennington decided that they should have the lyrics follow the flute, which was being played by outside musicians.
This song talks about the pain and stress one has to go through.
Aka their entire subject matter for the 17 years they were active, even throughout all their "sound changes".
