  • The Prophet is a book of 26 prose poetry fables written in English by the Lebanese-American artist, philosopher and writer Kahlil Gibran. It was originally published in 1923 by Alfred A. Knopf. It is Gibran's best known work. The Prophet has been translated into over 40 different languages and has never been out of print.

    8:55 "Pleasure is the Freedom Song" was a single released from this LP. Heard it played in 1974 on WBBM/FM Chicago.

    Yes there are non-musical readings. Look it up. No need to trash this classic. It says Musical Interpretation. Read before you buy.

    This was done early 70's. He’s gone now, but Richard Harris provided a wonderful reading. The musical themes can be as spacers for stopping and starting. Some people actually like it.

      No. You can always buy the book and read it quietly.

      This is actually the best audio version out there . Either you read the book or you hold your tongue

      So much of the words of The Prophet speak to the virtues of music appreciation. Maybe try the super market, they so often have literature more suitable for your apparent level of comprehension.
