if you're still wondering. it's about this boy (hibiya) and a girl (hiyori) who are stuck in a time loop. hibiya watches hiyori die for 10 ten years, and then one day he decides to save hiyori and instead die, time loops once again, and hiyori says "i failed gain" which hints towards the fact that they were both in the time loop trying to keep the other person alive.

@@lostinacatsmouth8389 the anime isnt exactly an adaptation. it is more of a sequel. As far as I know, the timeline in the anime is the final one in the kagerou project. it is basically the happy ending.

Yeah the boy wakes up each morning in a loop after the first time the girl is killed. Each time he tries to change the "route" she still ends up dying one way or another. He does this for ten years until he finally realizes what he can do to break the loop. By killing himself and saving her once in for all. What he does not know is that she was going through a longer loop and trying to save him too all those times she died instead of him.
@H its not only about this song, theres multiple stories for characters within the entire series, they're all basically about a character's lover/friend/family dying and them experiencing the "kagerou daze" world.
I started watching this at 13, in 2019 it was nearly the pandemic, or we were getting signs on the news of it, and honestly I was exhausted after school and fell asleep while watching a few times, which could contribute to my lack understanding of the story but my god this anime was a fever dream. I still have no idea what the story was about, I'd love to rewatch this though. As well as get into other parts of the story/media that could help me learn more. It's got such a nostalgic feel to it. I started watching this at 13, in 2019 it was nearly the pandemic, or we were getting signs on the news of it, and honestly I was exhausted after school and fell asleep while watching a few times, which could contribute to my lack understanding of the story but my god this anime was a fever dream. I still have no idea what the story was about, I'd love to rewatch this though. As well as get into other parts of the story/media that could help me learn more. It's got such a nostalgic feel to it. It's honestly nuts how fast time goes by as well.. Felt like the pandemic was 3 years ago but woah it's been awhile
