As he makes himself some food at campfire with his bantha, he sees lights overhead I the distance, and we get the Mando theme play for the first time. He travels over to find Fennec, this is a direct connection to mandalorian season 1 episode 45where Fennec dies and gets saved by the mysterious man walking. This man is Boba Fett.
Boba takes lifeless Fennec to the outskirts of mos espa to a mod shop where we have essentially a place for upgrades. The chop engineer fixes fennec up after boba pays and I guess this is Thundercat who you guys let me know of in the watch party. Fennec gets modded and when Boba says aren’t you going to cover it up? He’s says no because it would cover all that beautiful machinery. So obviously these modders are all about showing off their new parts, instead of concealing them like we know most cybernetics to be in Star Wars. Like Luke’s hand for example.
Fennec wakes up in the desert by camp fire with Boba and he tells her what happened to her and who he is. She figured him to be dead but clearly not. He tells her to take the Black Melon, this is a drink the tuskens showed him how to find and drink. It’s essentially like coconut milk, it hydrates and fills you with nutrients. The tuskens live off this stuff, among other variances of sustenance. He tells her how he was rescued by the Sand people, and blames himself for getting them killed by Nikto bikers. He blames himself because of when he jumped them at Tosche station, people there saw his clothing and weapons, and knew his gaffi stick belonged to Tuskens, taking him as one. So word probably got around with conjunction of the Pykes telling them that the Tuskens have also offered them safety, so the gang killed them. All except the warrior woman tusken.
Boba and Fennec decide to go retrieve Boba’s slave 1 ship, which he calls his fire spray which is the model of his ship, but not the name. I feel like Fennec wouldn’t know what the hell a slave 1 is even if he did call it by its name.
She sends in a drone, which reminds of me of the eye drone sent to spy of qui-gon jinn and Anakin in the phantom menace sent by Darth maul.
Boba mentions to Fennec that he was ready to leave bounty hunting behind. I guess this means he was tired of it and why he wants to become a crime lord now. He’s tired of working for scug holes.
Fennec retrieves her drone and it presents a map which reminds me of Jedi fallen order. Their plan is to sneak in. Now I want you to watch this scene again yourself, because not many will recognize, and if you did, maaaa Mann. Fennec takes the cutter to the bars, and the sound is the same sound when Anakin takes Dooku’s head in revenge of the Sith. Love how they added that in there. I feel like it’s a little nod to the grievous droid who loses his head with the same device. We see the droids making food and they think the noise of boba and Fennec is a rat, so they call the rat catcher droid. As Boba takes out the first droid, and the other turns into general grievous which was a nice little Easter egg. The rat hunting droid walks in and Boba ends up playing cat and mouse with it, eventually getting it, where we later see him in Boba’s palace, so clearly he took to the droid and kept him to keep the rats out.
Gonk droid can be seen just as Boba and Fennec lay eyes on Slave 1. They get ambushed by the guards and Boba gets in the ship. It’s in the same position as when Boba was firing the turrets on Obi wan Kenobi in episode 2 attack of the clones with obi wan was fighting jango Fett on Kamino. Loved seeing the console again since mandalorian. Fennec takes ou the guards in perfect assassin style while Boba maneuvers the ship around, destroying the walls until finally they escape.
We get the beautiful and infamous The Mandalorian theme. Meaning he’s now going to call upon the help of Mando Din Djarin and who knows who else. Probably Bossk and Dengar. His buddies.
I think the rest of the season is going to be a banger. I think Boba will go to Mandalore and get Din Djarin to join him. I hope he doesn’t just call him up, or get in touch with the guild. I hope we see live action mandalore and all the mandos join in, including Bo Katan. The thing is, if Mando joins Boba, then most likely everyone else will join too as he’s the leader of Mandalore. My question is, where is Grogu and Luke? Could we see them? I think from here Boba will create his own little suicide squad of baddies. I wanna see him Krrsantan, Fennec, bossk and dengar against Cad Bane the pykes and quira. I’d be cool with them putting Bossk on the opposing side, I think that would make it interesting for a fight between Krrsantan and Bossk.

I think I'll just watch your breakdown videos to stay updated. I couldn't get through ep 4 because the cheesiness of it all. Not sure what's up but the show just feels off to me. I loved seeing Boba take out the swoop gang via Slave 1 but the whole cat-and-mouse scene with the rat catcher - especially when Boba grabs the droid by its neck and says, "I am Boba Fett" - just felt so ridiculous...too much Disney for me. Also, Cyberpunk and Star Wars just doesn't mix well, in my opinion.
I watched every piece of canon Star Wars, in order, from The Phantom Menace to Season 2 of The Mandalorian (including your UA-cam comic series) with my five kids in 2021 (we even watched all of The Clone Wars in order, following an online guide). Halfway through ep 4 of The Book of Boba Fett, my 4-year-old daughter said out loud, "I like Star Wars way better than this."

I was absolutely astonished by this episode. Boba demoloshing the biker gang was so freaking cool, along with the seismic charge, but the best part was the Mando theme. I am so ready to see mando & the gang!!

At first I didn’t like how he used black under he’s armor, but now I see and understand that the sand people made Boba as one of their own people. Respect.

I'm still getting used to it. I kind of wish they made Tem lose some more weight for the role because he clearly looks thicker than he did in ROTJ. We also unfortunately didnt get enough screen time of him in his original costumes from 1-3, wish we could get some earlier stories in live action.

Underrated trait about Boba: he constantly introduces himself, making the holiday special greeting his standard canon greeting. Temura even trys to match the style of the og va when he says it.

I think the pykes killed the Tuskens and blamed the Riders. Hence, Boba kills the riders and now the Pykes own the Dune Sea. Fennec even says its strange that the riders were able to take out the tuskens.
I was 99% sure it were the Pykes. After Fennec´s line I´m 100% sure.
In episode 2 the pikes also seemed really pissed of and humiliated by the Tuskens, so it would make sense for them to get their revenge on the Tuskens. Unfortunately...

I think one of the lowkey badassed moments was that Boba crawled out of the Sarlacc and didn't really care that his skin was burning off. He just wanted his armour, body be damned.

@@jimdenson I'll accept the "delirium" excuse, even though he should have remembered burning his way out of the Sarlacc with his flamethrower. He also had a lizard in his head for an unknown amount of time. You know what they say about those acid tripping lizards; can't be too great for the long term memory. The writing is a bit lazy, though, when they're trying to be overly clever with homages and filling in plot holes. Feels like sometimes they are more preoccupied with easter eggs than actual substance. Hope that changes by the season's conclusion.

I really like that we are getting more Krrsantan, i didnt know who he was before this show but he looks so cool and the suit they made looks incredible.
I knew right away when we first saw him with the twins that he would become more important otherwise they would not have made that amazing costume. I even expect to see him on the Kenobi show. In the comics he got that scar over his eye from fighting Obiwan.

Exactly. I wasn’t caught up on the comics.. but they knew what they were doing. They introduced him very well in ep2 and I’m ecstatic that we have such a bad ass group

Boba actually being kinda badass for once - Check
Boba actually doing something to legitimize his claim to Jabba's thone - Check
Boba acknowledging he doesn't actually have any family or manpower -check
Black K actually being brutal without it looking childish and silly - check
Actual violence with people actually getting hurt - check.
This episode was a huge step up and helped with a lot of the missing elements of the series so far. I still think Fennec is sorta doing everything for Boba in the action scenes and that kinda sucks.. He seems pretty incompetent at fighting considering he was one of the most feared bounty hunters just a few years back.

He wasn’t at full health yet from the Bacta tank until the present in this episode when the droid says he’s fully healed so I’m thinking he just wasn’t fully healed from the sarlacc pit

I think the quote “there is an advantage to people thinking you’re dead”, was a hint at the mandolorians that are presumed dead by the galaxy. Maybe we see them aid him in his fight with the pikes?

I am just waiting for the moment that the Mandalorians take back Mandalore, I have a feeling it will happen either in Mando season 3 and then in the Ahsoka series they will help fight Thrawn. All I want to see is an Armada of Mandalorian ships with Vode An playing in the background.

I think the parallel of Jango and Zam to Boba and Fennec is interesting. The seemingly clear difference being loyalty. I think that difference is indicative of Boba’s new character arc with this show.

They addressed the “boba gone soft” narrative which I didn’t expect. It’s almost as if Fennec is the voice of the fans throughout the series which gives me hope.

They had this planned all along. There’s a reason why boba acts the way he does now and fans are refusing to see why his character developed the way it did
Because they knew about all the people that whine about ewoks, how Boba died in ROTJ, the prequels, TCW and Rebels
Boba chasing that little droid around reminds me of when the clones were chasing one of the same model that was carrying a vial of the Blue Shadow Virus
That scene gave me some really hard flashbacks to the level in the Lego Clone Wars game corresponding to that episode

Other people like Theory will say that scene didnt do it for him, he probably wanted to see the young small bot get its guts pulled and head ripped off.
Btw for those who didnt know... The light that Boba sees in the distance is actually the flares that Mando shot to blind Fennec. The Bantha just traveled so slow that he didn't get there until she was dead.
There was a nice Mando theme wind instrument "whine" when Boba was staring at the flare as it reached its apex

I think with everything else lately people are being too harsh with the start of this series. I'm loving it. Seeing development and what has happened.

People are all too impatient now of days, they want the action and hype as fast as possible . World building , character development are very important too , you know for proper story telling. Glad that this episode is turning things around , hope the remaing ones are just like it. Now things should hit the fan .
I’m a lifelong Star Wars fan, loved the mandolorian so much. But the start of this series was simply not good enough, terrible actually. Fight scenes were shit. Biker kids were cringe and unlikeable. The dialogue still feels awkward, however this episode was much better. People are not being impatient, it is a 6 episode series and this episode is the only truly good one so far, yet this episode does not even compare to a single mandalorian episode. Ps apart from this episode boba has been a pushover and soft as anything.

I would like to see Bossk team up with Boba and Krrsantan. Seeing rivals work together tends to make for good drama and I feel like the show has us gearing up for it.
You can tell he's excited by the tone of voice when he says mando is coming next episode they lay it down so well at the end with the mando theme can’t wait

I think if Bossk does come in, he might be mad at Boba for leaving the bounty hunter way and go against him, but he'll eventually come around

When Mando season 2 ended I was sad about not seeing Grogu. I didn't realize how much I have missed Mando himself. Man, when his theme music played I was like "NO WAY! YESSS!!!!!" I'm so excited to that we get to see him again!! :D

I'm glad you liked this episode, I also did. When the Mando theme played, I got really excited - it shows just how well they made the Mandalorian, only 2 seasons, but Din is now a fan favourite. I'm hyped for what comes next, but don't really think they will leave Tattooin, or show Mandalore, or anything. Din can absolutely show up, he would, being honorbound and basicly a friend to Boba now, but I kinda feel like thats it. Still great, but lets not set our expectations too high.
Yeah I think they’ll save Mandalore for Mando Season 3. Which is perfectly fine, gotta withhold some to keep us stoked!

Definitely agree that it was SO satisfying watching Boba obliterate the speeder gang. That scene where Slave 1 comes into view behind the speeders made me laugh, and I kept laughing when he fired the blasters at them.
That scene where Fett introduces his rancor reminded me on a quote from President Theodore Roosevelt, "speak softly and carry a big stick, you will go far." This was Roosevelt's tactic when dealing with foreign affairs. His "big stick" was the US large military. The method was to negotiate peacefully, but also remind the other world leaders of what time of threat Roosevelt was incase things went south.
This is Fett's tactic swayed favor when they threatened to kill him. He's adopting Roosevelt's method. The rancor is his big stick and throughout the meeting, he never raised his voice. He doesn't want this to end in violence but he's showing that he will resort to violence if he is forced to. He's not threating anybody specifically and he still give them the free will to either accept his proposal or refuse it willing, but he's also presenting himself as a threat. To speak softly is to show that you're not intimated and carrying a big stick show how much power and a threat you are incase the negotiations turn violent.
This tactic does work. He does persuade them to join them even if he doesn't trust them and the feeling is mutual both ways.

I love that we saw the sarlaccs beak coming out and can get in, so the OT fans and the special edition ones have something from that. It can be seen with or without the beak and it’s still in-universe correct.

It was really well-done. I saw the pit and was like, "Oh they're doing the original version" just for the beak to shoot out
A few seconds of Mando’s theme is enough to have people bouncing off walls. We’ve waited so long. I hope they have a teaser for S3 in the post-credit of the last Boba episode.

This is what I've been saying to people who've hated the show saying "this isn't the lone badass Boba we all know." Of course it isn't. He now knows you need a tribe, and to rule that tribe you need respect and loyalty, not fear. I love this change in character, shows growth.

He was perfect in Empire Strikes Back. His suit was perfect, his voice. Temuera is not needed. Should have hired Daniel Logan instead. He is 36, and could have easily pulled off a 40ish old Fett.
The lady of the bar/casino paid Boba for protection. And then Boba simply watches Black Kerrrsant go wild in her casino. Boba has one job! He lost respect and loyalty.

Boba trusts them to act in their own interest, so I'm predicting that soon it will be in their interest to join him. I'm also predicting that Krrsantan will become one of Boba's trusted inner circle and possibly kill Bossk in the season finale (hopefully not, but they killed the Sarlacc so anything's game). We also have to remember that Boba's learning to ride his new Rancor and we have seen concept art of him doing so.
Bossk has already almost killed krrsantan once, only got stopped by Dr aphra, I wouldn't count him out. Would certainly be cool to see some sort of extended fight sequence between them
I wish the scenes in the Mod Parlor was our first ever introduction to the gang. They felt way less jarring and more believable now that we have more context compared to last week's episode.

I loved the part where he said his last words to the bantha. For a majority of his life he took lives as a bounty hunter, but at this turning point he blesses his bantha to give life.

I thought that part was sad. Tuskens were bonded with their Bantha for life. If a banthas Tusken person died the Bantha were know to kill themselves.
I loved how they put the mando theme in there. Such a cool episode and I love how they’re making Boba a real human character. He’s becoming one of my favorite personalities in Star Wars. Can’t wait for the next episodes

He's obviously a star wars expanded universe fan from the episodes he's written, I'd say if he does anything with mandalore it'll be a sort of reboot of the mandalore we saw in the clone wars 08 show, hopefully with the result being something closer to legends mandalore
When you think about the fact that Boba is just an unaltered clone…it sure makes the clone troopers a LOT more intimidating. I think TCW/Rebels/Prequels, even TBB (before they have their smackdown run-in with the TK troopers and even Crosshair’s elite squad) led us to under-appreciate the physical might and prowess of the clone troopers. They can ragdoll a mere mortal. Truly bred for war, and strategically adept too.

Seeing the tears in bobas eyes when he saw the slave one was pretty emotional, very good camera angles, especially when he pulled up to the biker gang and like you said "obliterated them" pretty amazing scene, good riddance imo. You could imagine what was going through his head when he found them. Very badass indeed

I feel lile Boba killing the biker gangs was a demonstration of his bond with the tuskens. Although Boba is a bit 'softer', we can see how he can very rarely be rutheless when it comes to the murderers of his family.

He's not really softer, he just has principles, and if he shows mercy because of that and then someone tries to take advantage of the opportunity or something, he'll have no regrets killing them. He still has no problem killing, but now the "who", "when" and "why" have changed, I would say
Great breakdown, two things I’d like to draw attention to though. When Boba said the speeder gang killed his Tusken tribe, Fennic replied that it’s highly unlikely, which to me implies maybe they had help? The Pykes maybe? It’d add more tension to the current events and make the war against the Pykes personal for Boba. The other small detail I wanted to point out was the godfather reference while Boba had the gang leaders assembled, while speaking at one point he brushes his hand along the bottom of his jaw which I’m almost certain is a reference.

This episode was the turning point. The flashbacks were awesome, loved the biker and Sarlacc Pitt scenes, and now the new narrative can push forward.
When Boba speaks of the idiocy of people he worked for I can’t help but feel he is not just criticizing Jabba but Darth Vader too. Brings more weight to his limited dialogue from Ep.V like “He’s no good to me dead”, because in retrospect you can see Boba was frustrated with Vader.
That line from Boba also makes me feel that this is the Showrunner Jon Favreau himself hinting at the Disney studio itself; him working under the idiocy of such people who would fire one of his actors and basically sabotage him and one of his shows.

Best episode yet. Incredible directing, amazing writing, very well acted and a great soundtrack too. Perfectly wrapped up the flashbacks, and created an awesome setup for Boba and his allies defending against the Pykes. Just awesome.
Fennec cutting the grate under the palace in the flashback probably explains how krrsantan snuck in to attack boba
The scene with Boba sitting at the table with the heads of all the families was a direct homage to The Godfather’s 5 families scene after Sonny’s hit. Less game of thrones, more godfather there.

Personally I want Bossk to be on Boba's side, but cause some inner tension in their group with Black Krrsantan. Maybe one even ends up being killed by the other.
They are both such badass characters, that would be a shame. Krrsantan is just know getting the spotlight, and Bossk is a veteran SW bounty Hunter. It would be kind of a waste for either to die.

They were also talking about bossk vs black k because trandoshans and wookiees hate each other, bossk and black k have also fought each other before with bossk nearly killing black k before Dr aphra stepped in
Tam killed it this episode, the emotional story beats were well done. Can feel his exhaustion, his sadness and his need for revenge.

I’m really thankful for the work you do brother, and I appreciate the way you break these down for us. It’s a shame to see so many people tearing apart this show- I know it’s not perfect but I love the complexity they’re building with Boba’s character and continuing to build out the wonderful world of Star Wars that we all know and love in a way that truly carries on the legacy

Krrsantin ripping the Trandoshens arm off caught me so off guard. I wanted him to murder him so bad, just do anything besides leave him completely unharmed but I just knew in my gut he was going to walk away without anything happening.
I just didn’t think Disney would let it happen.
When I heard that tear I leaped out of my seat. I’ve never been so excited to see someone lose a limb lol.

the relationship between Bossk and Boba is like a sparring match, they respect each other and are willing to put differences aside... but they're always trying to test one another's mettal.
Really enjoyed this episode. All the sound easter eggs were much appreciated. I was confused why they'd use the sound of Anakin decapitating Dooku for the bars, but I loved the callback. I laughed hard when he used the Slave I to take out the biker gang without even trying to talk to them, I said "Now THAT'S Boba." I've really been liking the more detail and up close and personal we're getting from Jabba's Palace; although seemingly insignificant, I love that touch. Seismic charge sounds will never not be the greatest, even when muffled under sand😂 Thought the Sarlacc was already dead though, so I admit I was jump scared when it 'woke up'. And I freaked out when I heard The Mando theme at the end! Kept shouting at nobody, asking what it meant😂
Much better episode. So much more time used to flesh out characterisation and themes. Boba talking about tribe/family is a very important theme emerging from the series and we'll see him with a strong group by the end for sure.
The Sarlaac pit was done very well. Krrsantan was intimidating and more true to his character. Even Boba spoke similar to how he would pre-Sarlaac, yet I believe that he has developed and changed naturally.
This is why, to me, I'm not sure on Robert Rodriguez as a director for this. His work does seem noticeably more heavy handed than the subtle work of the directors for episode 2 and 4
Just give it time, people keep expecting everything explained in one episode. People were like "wtf is boba suddenly so nice" Meanwhile I was like "probably gonna be explained later" and guess what, it was explained later on.... People judge too fast and can't wait. That's why I don't like 1ep per week, gives too much time for people to complain about everything they don't like. It's a show, not a movie, it's meant to be watched in parsed episodes to understand the whole piece of art.
Unlike the Mandalorian, Jon wrote all the episodes of the book of Boba Fett, but the pacing here feels weirder and both Rodriguez's episodes feel very out of place, especially episode 3, incidentally, they are also shorter than 2 and 4 so everything feels very cramped. Did Jon intentionally make Rodriguez do the dirty work of cramping all the expositions asap and leave more budget and time for the cool visuals for other directors, such as the train and slave 1 scenes?
Rodriguez directed "The Tragedy" episode in The Mandalorian, which was the third-highest rated season 2 ep on IMDB. It is just so weird

I'm glad everyone is liking this. I guess I"m the odd one out. From all the legends books I've read, the Fett I enjoy is the one who is as cunning as Thrawn and as ruthless as Jango. He is usually ten steps ahead of everyone around him. In this series, I just don't see it. It's very slow, and repetitive. I want to enjoy it but just haven't so far.
He acts like a wuss and half the show is devoid of logic. The only reason why people respect him is because of his reputation and he's acting nothing like it. I mean there's 2 against every other gang of tattooine. Why don't they just kill boba and take the Palace? Then he finally gets some muscle and that "muscle" is a bunch of super diverse children on Space-Vespas. Whyyyyyyy... First episode was promising and I just got more and more frustrated from that point onwards...

Fennic is the one who doesn’t trust the various leaders from around Tatooine, Boba essentially says he does because they would take his offer before one that conveniences them even less offered by the Pikes. I think that’s an important distinction. “I trust them to act in their own self interests.” Boba is saying he has control over them because of that.

hes also much older by this point. Hes not a hot headed youth. Hes a middle aged man thats survived on his wits, cunning, and brutality of his past. Age does soften a man to an extent, but also makes him wiser.

I was a little disappointed that they didn’t reference the hitting the head on the side door, but other than that, this is my absolute favorite episode so far. I also like that his armor is placed on display like a Japanese samurai armor

In episode 4 a new hope when a stormtrooper knocks his head on the slide door, the second time was when jango fett hit his head on slave one after fighting obi wan on kimino in attack of the clones
They should bring back Grievous in some way, imagine him with todays cgi. I’m hoping he’ll be in a flashback scene in the Obi-Wan series
For once I agree because he’s already my favorite bad guy. Last thing I wanna was the reincarnate him by using his DNA to sink inside is droids as a new body.

You saw Darth Vader for 3 full movies without a quality lightsaber fight and everyone still drooled over his scene in Rogue One so whats the difference here? In clone wars Grievous was just some villainous placeholder with weak writing around him specifically… sometimes he didn’t show up for episodes at a time because they never knew how to handle him properly. The dude has 4 lightsabers he should be dark/scary af similar to the 2D version
@@disneyknightspadilla1406 he’s my favourite bad guy as well, i really wish the Clone Wars portrayed him the same way as the 2D animation of Grievous, he was straight badass in that and you could really feel him instill that fear in the jedi he faced off with. Imo it only seems right to bring him back in a flashback scene for the Obi-Wan series
The Mando music had me so hyped. Can't wait to see him back with Boba.

The episode was an absolute blast! The ONLY problem that I got was with 2 particular moments, not very flattering for Boba unfortunately. 1st: when he's chasing the mouse catcher droid. They're trying to sneak in, and he whips his gaffi stick all over the place, making tons of shit fall and make lots of noise. 2nd: getting THAT close to the sarlacc with th ship, knowing full well how dangerous it is. He could have started by blasting it first THEN check the remains of his armor.
One thing I liked about that last part tho was the blasting of the sarlacc, cool little nod to the legends, where Boba regularely went back on Tatooine to blast the sarlacc
The running issue with this show is they have Boba be an idiot in order to facilitate more tension and they don't know how not to do it
Some higher up didn't like the name 'Slave I', so they changed the name of the ship to 'Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft'. It seems like the creators of the Book of Boba Fett, are still acting like 'Slave I' is still the name of Boba's ship, but they just can't say it in universe.
That higher up was 100% Kathleen Kennedy.
the firespray is the model name for the ship, not the actual name of the ship. idk why you think saying slave is a taboo thing in star wars now, slavery is even mentioned and portrayed in the clone wars and rebels (aka the kids shows)
Bearjedi Slavery in the Star Wars universe obviously exist and no one is disputing that. Higher ups like KK don’t want protagonist like Boba to have any ties to the word “Slave”.

Slave 1 is a Firespray ship, almost like calling an XWing and XWing, even if the specific ship has a name, its still an X Wing.
When I saw the gang on the speeders, I was like PLEASE have Boba fly by and just kill them all and HE DID bro it was so great
It seemed to me that Black Krrsantan let the Trandoshan off easy by stopping after the arm ripping lol, plus it looked like he *only* ripped off one of the arms, so, you know, he held back
And Trandoshan’s grow limbs back very fast.

Exactly. They start Episode 1 with him in the Sarlac Pit and show the escape. They play out the Tusken arc and goes straight into this Episode 4 arc. This could have been episode 1 and 2 or a long episode 1.
The episode was absolutely fantastic. Truly remarkable. Also at 10:40, am I the only who just constantly smile when theory gets hype like that? 😃😃😃
That ending has me so excited for episode 5
