It is so wonderful to see my fathers ship and radio station again. Your information seems a little off but it is close enough.
Keep on doing this great work!

Thanks Peter,I remember listening to the King David. I think one of the most exiting and inspiring fights for free radio is the crew and tiny TERI 1 and TERI 11 RADIO HAURAKI ,they used an old 500 watt US Navy wartime Westinghouse TBL 13 transmitter re-built by Denis O’Callaghan -output after rebuilding approx. 1.75Kw. Compared to some of the offshore stations on ships around the UK the TIRI 1 and TIRI 11 were tiny. TIRI was 169 tons and just 90 ft long. TIRI 11 was 194 tons and 101 ft long.

Fascinating story, really enjoying these little nuggets. I guess I must have listened to this station at one time back in the day. I remember picking up a local Pirate radio station in the 1970s called Radio Telstar. It only broadcast for 2 hours on a Sunday evening right after the top 20 charts on Radio 1 finished at 7PM (I think). It mainly broadcast from unkown destinations around the Crystal Palace, West Wickham area. They had to keep moving around during transmission in case they were caught. So, ocassionally, the broadcast would stop for a while. They played mainly 60s and 70s pop music, and I remember the main DJ was called Kid Johnson. I even had a few requests played. Great listening fun back then.
