I was standing just before the start line and was absolutely struck by the speed and lack of sound. It reminded me of seeing a Waco biplane with a jet engine doing an air show routine at the Reno air races. The sound didn’t match what I was witnessing. The VW pit set up was also extremely well done. Clear heated tents for the car and crew so the spectators could see, hospitality tent for the VIPs, truck covers with the VW logo to put over the U-haul rental trucks used for parts and equipment. Very impressive and top shelf to be sure.
I have to agree. Also electric has many advantages over a gas engine such as instant torque and not being affected to the decrease in oxygen as it climbs.
The Stanley Steamer in the 20’s (1920’s for you kids out there) impressed people as much as this run….almost silent as it ascended the hill and gained speed as it climbed….totally unbelievable at the time.
Would love to see a split screen with Loeb to see where the time is cut off the run....is it microscopic gains in every straight, or better power at elevation? Would be interesting to see!
Electric engines have instant torque, so basically every time Loeb changed gears there was a split second without power. Also oxygen decreases constantly during the climb, I am sure Loeb's team adjusted this, however that something an electric car doesn't need to worry about.

the acceleration ridiculous, that made the control on steering more difficult, that's a little issue there, because it's track racing car so you need so much grip especially in the uturns, yet no doubt the car one of the best racing track toys, and it smashed the numbers, it just need a good driver, plus good weather.
If all the domestic cars in the world were electric, reserve gas engines for F1 & NASCAR. The roar of a gasoline engine will never be matched by an electric engine. Though I have to admit, this sounds like a smaller version of a F-15 fighter jet.
But I wonder whether they bothered to obey environmental regulations when building the batteries (or sourcing their materials)? Technological advances don't fix moral failing, unfortunately.

(châssis tubulaire en alu, la voiture ayant des contrainte sur l'aero puisqu'elle devaient reprendre les formes de la 208. Un moteur v8 repris de je sais plus où mais il aurait pu avoir plus performant) moi je dis j'espère le retour de Peugeot et Sébastien Loeb.

After the high of watching Sebastian Loeb's run in the Peugeot this clip left me feeling deflated. There is no drama and excitement to the sound, instead I was reminded of vehicles racing in one of those Star Wars movies. Seems fast is'nt always engrossing.

It's not the sound at all. This video is boringly made. With the Leob climb all the cams we had were in the car. We were part of the action. Through the video you could feel the break-neck speed. This video with the VW has just one such instance, and that's the few second short clip of the dash-cam.
