for the curious- electric cars on PP must have sirens (minimum of 120db) so people and animals can hear them coming
the acceleration ridiculous, that made the control on steering more difficult, that's a little issue there, because it's track racing car so you need so much grip especially in the uturns, yet no doubt the car one of the best racing track toys, and it smashed the numbers, it just need a good driver, plus good weather.
I was standing just before the start line and was absolutely struck by the speed and lack of sound.
It reminded me of seeing a Waco biplane with a jet engine doing an air show routine at the Reno air races. The sound didn’t match what I was witnessing.
The VW pit set up was also extremely well done. Clear heated tents for the car and crew so the spectators could see, hospitality tent for the VIPs, truck covers with the VW logo to put over the U-haul rental trucks used for parts and equipment. Very impressive and top shelf to be sure.

I have to agree. Also electric has many advantages over a gas engine such as instant torque and not being affected to the decrease in oxygen as it climbs.

Electric cars will always have an advantage at higher altitudes. So probably some time is lost in that factor
It's easy to go that fast when you're chased by the police. You can clearly hear them. If he slowed down he'd get shot.
Electric engines have instant torque, so basically every time Loeb changed gears there was a split second without power. Also oxygen decreases constantly during the climb, I am sure Loeb's team adjusted this, however that something an electric car doesn't need to worry about.
I love the wing and aero's on that car, Over 1,000 pounds of downforce! Seems like the road is vacuumed now for the next car.

The car has a skirt you can see. A video I watch explained that the undercar aero is the majority of it.

The Stanley Steamer in the 20’s (1920’s for you kids out there) impressed people as much as this run….almost silent as it ascended the hill and gained speed as it climbed….totally unbelievable at the time.

The downforce generated by the wing looks like a jet going supersonic. Awesome. Just wish it have a better sound.
If all the domestic cars in the world were electric, reserve gas engines for F1 & NASCAR. The roar of a gasoline engine will never be matched by an electric engine. Though I have to admit, this sounds like a smaller version of a F-15 fighter jet.

It's not an LMP1 car, it's a Norma chassis specifically built for Pikes Peak, not too dissimilar from other cars Dumas has won at Pikes Peak with, and what many Unlimited Class cars utilize.

Knowing what 100% electric racing engines allow, the entire Motorsport community worldwide should start agreement to make classifications only reserved with an electric mechanical aid (100% or hybrid). And therefore also have a ranking with also a winner with a classic internal combustion engine. So for me, it's still Loeb and the Peugeot Sport 208 T16 Pikes Peak since 2013 which has the Pikes Peak record in the traditional engine version.

Unless I'm mistaken, the car actually had a siren. You can hear it in most of the shots, most clearly in the last shot where he crossed the finish.

Oui c'est exactement ce que je me disais la VW électrique n'a pas la contrainte de l'oxygène en moins en altitude
En plus là VW est vraiment quasiment une prototype du man adapté à pikes peak (j'entends par là châssis monocoque carbone aerodynamisne ultra poussé sur la carrosserie etc). En comparaison les ingénieurs Peugeot pour construire la 208 t16 avaient du faire avec des pièce existantes dans un temps record. (châssis tubulaire en alu, la voiture ayant des contrainte sur l'aero puisqu'elle devaient reprendre les formes de la 208. Un moteur v8 repris de je sais plus où mais il aurait pu avoir plus performant) moi je dis j'espère le retour de Peugeot et Sébastien Loeb.

Yes it broke the record for Scalextric cars ..... but it's 46 odd seconds slower that the stunning Porsche 919 on the Green Hell.

After the high of watching Sebastian Loeb's run in the Peugeot this clip left me feeling deflated. There is no drama and excitement to the sound, instead I was reminded of vehicles racing in one of those Star Wars movies. Seems fast is'nt always engrossing.

Allez voir Ari Vatanen avec sa 405 T16 sur la même route, sauf qu'elle n'est pas goudronnée! C'est du grand art!! Le film Climb Dance montre le talent hors normes de ce pilote! Et à mon humble avis, je ne pense pas qu'avec une voiture à pile Romain aurais battu Ari! A savoir qu'Ari à inventer la prise de virage en pendulaire, et ça, c'est un avantage non n'négligeable!
On a Gas engine, efficiency is ~15%... Which means that 15% of fuel's energy are actually converted in traction. 85% of the energy are lost in form of heat and sound pressure.

je n'aime pas ce son, je préfère entendre "hurler" un beau v12 ou un v10 ou un gros v8! et pour moi une course sans son de moteur n'a aucun sens!, car les bruits de moteurs hurlants, c'est l'essence même de la course automobile, c'est ça le "pied" et rien d'autre!!!.

I have driven two, I own a 2017 Chevy Volt and drive it on electric only for months and it is very efficient and quick. My other car is my Tricked out Smart Car in my channel. It is only electric and very fun and quick.

Such bad camera angles: onboard is useless, can't see the road. Helicopter camera is mostly obscured by trees.
Celui qui inventra une voitures électriques avec le sons d une atmosphérique lui aura tout gagner j ai discuter avec bc de gens pourquoi pas l électrique tousse la même réponse il manque le bruit du moteur ca doit pas être compliqué monter de grosse enceintes extérieur et choisir électroniquement le moteur choisis c est ce qui me paraît le plus simple mais après tout ce sont des ingénieurs sur qu il peuvent quant on était petit pour imiter les moto on concer un bout de carton qui frotter sur les rayon tout ça tenu avec des épingles à linges

As much as I enjoy the sound, feel, and thrills the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) has given us, their phase-out stage for advancement has certainly begun. As human existence moves forward it will always improve its tools by realizing requirements through knowledge. Otherwise, we'd still be lighting a lantern and hunting with spears. Current generations are witnessing history go by, we are at the tail-end of another era and its lessons.

Pour le Pike spick il a aucun mérite vu qu'il étai en full électriques donc pas de problème avec le manque daire et autre que un moteur thermique subie
