Yes indeed - (Lucas) Girling was the original manufacturer of these style calipers for Saab. They were also my first employer out of University (1985 until 1993)! AP Lockheed had a similar front sliding/swinging caliper design (minus the handbrake mechanism) that was used on the British Leyland ADO16 range of cars in the 1960s/70s. Really high quality restoration going on here - keep it up!
You always seems to impress me by your dedication to detail, it is also great to see someone using manual tools and using torque setting when installing new components, and not using powered tools. Keep up the great work on the Saab, I'm sure it's going to turn out to be a special car when finished.
Hey man, are you alright? I just remembered about your saab project, and i thought that i have seen any updated lately. Hope all is well! Best wishes from Latvia!
Great vid! can't wait for the new car. A tiny recommendation, please, use some breathing protection while sand blasting. Take care and keep the good work!
Would it have been possible to upgrade to vented front discs? Guessing probably not without other modifications, or even different calipers altogether, but would be nice to have.

@@nielshagemeijer188 Me too. This is a really nice restoration channel, I was surprised when I realised I wasn't getting any new videos recommended. He didn't mention anything on social media or something? I only follow the UA-cam channel.

I did a few restorations on those calipers. They actually are a variation of Peugeot brakes and amongst other cars - their older model was used in DeTomaso Pantera.
I'm not sure what I find more satisfying - the beautifully painted engine bay, formerly rusty parts after they've been sandblasted or the zinc coated nuts and bolts! Amazing work Memphis. If you ever decide to do commissions, I have a 1982 Porsche 911SC that needs some jobs doing :)

Same happened to James of The Savage Garage who was on his way to 100k subscribers but real life intervened and he stopped a few years ago, as "real life got in the way" and like Memphis he was very, very good in front of the camera, starting out on his drive without a workshop and bringing great content. People should realise that to film, edit and post good content frequently takes a huge part of your life which doesn't stop when you are not a fully monetised UA-camr. Life has more to offer than entertaining others and unless you are prepared to commit a lot of time, possibly the best years of your life and if you're not careful, your personal relationships, to making YT content full time it can take over your life. You certainly need the full support of your partner, family and friends if you want to make UA-cam your profession.
@Miraclemitch I have really enjoyed Memphis channel and it would be great to see future videos. The Saab was really getting going. James at Savage Garage was also a great channel, but I understand he had more than his share of trolls which really got to him. I don't blame James (or anyone) for putting themselves first and I still live in hope that both James and Memphis make more videos.
@@Mudster250 I also live in hope that they both make future videos. Memphis has always had a great camera presence and he is a natural speaker for sure. The Savage Garage when videos stopped had grown considerably and James' skills were developing month on month. I do miss his down to earth content and real life on the drive repairs and maintenance. He still monitors his channel feed as far as I am aware.

New car Lada 🥳 Really Nice work on that Saab. Doing the same here with a Saab 90
Great work as always, and fantastic Volvo too.
Before moving the Saab outside don't forget to paint any bare metal so it doesn't rust.
The new project car is a lada niva.

Amazing job
We miss the videos dude hope everything is okay sir
Are you planning to come back and continue with YT?
I'm sorta late to watching but it looks like a Lada door handle, can't tell you which model though. My Lada knowledge is pretty meager.
Not the first, FIAT, I think. 127, 128, 131, etc.
I think the new car project wil be a fiat 124 😊👍🏻.
Lada Niva 4x4?
Could the mystery car be a Lada
New project car is Lada Niva?
When is the next update coming out?
@MEMPHIS5220 Where are you? also hope you're okay
Yugo or Zastava
I really missed the saab 😭

we misse you, whats up ?
It is fiat 124 or lada 2101 which is the same car. Bit the same handle is installed on Lada Niva
Ik zou als ik jou wat de remschijven ook een coating geven anders roesten ze heel snel
you could have sprayed the steering rack silver everything else is clean and painted LMJ
maybe Lada/VAZ ''Zhiguli''??????
Fiat 125p Lada
Where did you get the new brake callipers from??
Did you Zinc coat old bolts or get new ones, and if so, where do you get those bolts sir?

Not Riva, I guess Riva didn't have the trim below door handle and handles were different. But it's Niva most likely.
