Just got mine and of course, the install "instructions" are virtually useless for someone who hasn't done this before! Your vid helped a lot. Many thanks.
I am tasked to help my dad with finding and installing a dash cam himself (we live in different regions). Thank you for your video. It's very clear and easy to fast forward if information is known. In his case, he needed to watch the full thing to understand. After trying and failing to explain how it works and to be set up, dad still wasn't understanding. Showing him this video took a lot of stress and frustration off our plate. Thank you.
Just order one and thought I'd see if someone had a good install video. This was great! Bonus, seeing you driving around my old neighborhood in Surprise.
Great video! Mine just arrived today and was able to follow you video. Thank you. Also at 17:05 you were using the tape to secure the wiring. Can you tell me where to get that tape? I've been looking for that 'Fiber' tape at HD and they don't have it. Or maybe there is a particular name for that tape.
Thanks for great review, just bought vioffo a119 V3, waiting for it. My previous dash cam is xiaomi 70mai dash cam pro, but it has aspect ratio 4:3, and it seems vioffo has better picture quality
Why do they even supply the anti static sheet? I do not live in AZ but I just installed mine and it is completely useless for holding it to the windshield. Video certainly helps and gives more info than the instructions included.
LOL I just got my A119 V3 (Only thing I don't like is no wifi on it but it is what it is). I opened the box, immediately updated the firmware, I have a hardwire kit that's the same usb type from my previous cam so using that, but came back in and saw this anti-static sheet on my work bench and thought "Why would they give me a screen protector of this size" because that's exactly what it looked like. Saw a couple videos and yea... not sure that thing would even be useful.
I know that dash cam doesn’t use an app. How or have you viewed videos? Do you have to download to a pc? I just bought the a119 Mini 2 that has Wi-Fi and uses an app and it downloads videos right to the app. I do own two of the a119 V3s but wasn’t sure how much of a headache it would be to download the videos. I do believe that there is an adapter that use can plug into the unit and download vids to your phone. Thanks in advance!
The UA-camr Autofun has a compuer controlled OBD2 connector that will automatically shut off the dascam when the battery gets to low if you put this particular adapter in that mode.
Looking for a mobile dash cam to put in a rental car while on a trip. Could I use this cam for that purpose. Just attach it and plug into the adapter, then remove it when I return the car.
Hello, I have a question: how long does this camera work on its own battery, will it last 5 minutes? One more thing, does he take photos? My current Nextbase 212 doesn't have a battery anymore, so I'm looking for something else. Thank you
Hi, they offer a stand alone battery kit that you can wire in for parking mode. As it is it stays on momentarily after the key shuts off. I’m not sure if there is a picture mode. I would just extract a frame from video if needed.

With this camera.. Use the HDR only at night.. In daylight do not use it..if you want to record the licence plates from cars around you. HDR is best used only at night. I have the same camera for over 3 years now.. and it is working the same as first day.
I have a question, I have a Toyota rav4 hybrid, I just got the VIOFO v119 v3 and I hide the cords and plugged in into the cigarette lighter 12v, does the battery drain if it’s plugged in while the car is off? My dashcam turns off when I turn off my vehicle, when I turn the vehicle on my dashcam automatically turns on and starts recording. Will it drain the battery if the vehicle is off?
@@DrivingForwardBuilds sorry I meant to say that I have it plugged in to my cig lighter and I love that it turns off while the vehicle is off. I don’t have it plugged in on the fuse box because I don’t want to record 24/7. I was just wondering will the battery drain if I keep it plugged in the cigarette lighter.
I have mine plugged in to the OBD port. I'm afraid the parking feature might drain the battery. Is there any way? I could have it not record when parked even if there is motion. Because right now even with parking mode off it records with motion.
I have all of those features currently turned off on my camera. I would double check that all of the settings are turned off for parking detection. If that doesn't solve the issue the folks at BlackBoxMyCar were very helpful when I was installing my camera.

I am not sure that you can. However, I have had many cameras and only ever updated a few of them. I installed one in my other vehicle straight out of the box.
Sorry to hear that, and totally understand. Hope your install either goes well or already went well. It's a tough balance to take things slow enough, and to keep attention.
actually, he went through the steps just fine. some independent thought is needed. there are three sections when installing this (or other) dash cams...1)update & setup camera, 2)find a suitable place to mount the camera, clean area, place film, mount camera, 3) run power cord up along headliner to A-pillar and down under dash towards the power source, aka cigarette lighter adapter thing. He covered ALL 3. Watch the video again or seek out additional videos for possibly more information. A good research paper doesn't use just one source......

@@DrivingForwardBuilds It did thanks - took me less time than I thought. 👍
Right. The instructions are garbage. They tell you some things, but install is a joke.

This is an automotive loom tape, sometimes called "Tessa Tape". I have been getting it on Amazon. amzn.to/3N8sxTh

I just pop the SD card out and download to my computer. Though in 10 years of having dash cams I’ve only needed footage twice.
That air bag thing scared my OFS😂
I am always thinking, waiting for an airbag to pop off. Though in reality I've never seen it happen, even after working in multiple shops.
Nice job
Thanks. Appreciate the comment.

Yup. That would work. You would just have to peel the mount off the windshield when done.
12:02 well done!
Thanks!

Good insight. Thanks for sharing.
Can this camera be removed and put back on easily? For example, only have it in the car for driving and take out when not in the car?
Yes. It clips to a mount on the windshield. The plug just pulls out.
12:03 yeah I actually jumped!
I hope it wasn't too bad. That's what runs through my head whenever I deal with airbags. Though it's extremely unlikely to ever happen.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds it is safer to unplug the vehicle battery befor isn't it ?
@@RimKWithoutTheK In theory yes, but for this it's not really necessary.

Sounds like either the camera is sensing the voltage change and shutting down or the cig lighter shuts down.

Does this Viofo dash cam works good under the heat in Phoenix?
It has worked great. Even through this last summer, the hottest on record.

What if you don't have a computer can you update it without it ?
I am not sure that you can. However, I have had many cameras and only ever updated a few of them. I installed one in my other vehicle straight out of the box.
Does it come with an sd card? If ut doesnt, which do i need?
When you are purchasing you have the option to include an SD card with your camera. I use this one from SanDisk. amzn.to/3Pzh3Id
Wish you had gone through the setup menu slower and explained all the options instead of skipping some over
I’ll take that into account next time. Thanks for the feedback.
Can the videos be viewed on the camera?
Yes.
Hi,how can i connect this camera to my phone ?
I don’t believe it can connect to a phone. To get videos off I just use the SD Card in my computer.
12:04. Hilarious!
Ha. Thanks.
The gps is it a simple plug in and it works setup or do I need anything else, how does it measure speed?
The gps module piggybacks the camera and gets its power from the camera. I didn’t have to setup anything special with the install.
