Stephen King is still writing books. Every time a new one comes out, I see it at Walmart, the last one was Holly, the last I bought of his was If It Bleeds.

I've lost count of how many mangas I've dropped now because I picked up some random trash manga for light entertainment only to be met 5-10 chapters in the with introduction of a sexualised literal child character that immediately develops an overpowering attachment to the male MC. The moment I see that, particularly in in otherwise entertaining isekai manga, I stop reading. I already know where the story is going and I don't like it. The fact that people seem to think being a successful entertainer qualifies them to lecture about morality and politics is immensely disturbing, especially the fact so many people actually take them seriously when they do. I forget who it was specifically, but it was a musician who actually flat out said no one wanted to hear him talk about politics, because he was a stupid rock star who slept all day and played music all night. And that he did that BECAUSE he was a stupid rock star, not a politician or even intelligent person. Wish I could remember who it was at this point, because he at least had self-awareness.
For countless generations, mankind has built mythologies for us to cling to, each explaining the nature of the world around us & the people that operate within its boundaries. These stories have stood the test of time by passing down lesson of great importance to each coming generation. They're remembered for presenting the best & worst qualities that each of us possesses within us. And now we have this age of deconstruction that embraces all the negatives, tossing aside all the virtues that we should embody, alongside the heroes that we treasured in our youth. Martin has denigrated himself, following this broken ideology like a stray mutt. He's more than welcome to scream derogatory terms at us, but it won't change the fact that he has nothing decent left to contribute to our fountain of mythologies.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, it doesn't matter if he ever finishes the books or not anymore. Because in a few years AI will be advanced enough you'll be able to feed it all the existing books and have it come up with a book or two to finish the story for you.
True or false, there's no reason for people to allow that to be the future of literature. To turn what people have been doing for millennia into something like that... Obscene.
Put out another book George and people will care about what you think. Or you can stick to writing one sentence back stories for random characters in video game. 🎩 🐍 no step on Snek!🇺🇸🇭🇰
Its a shame because i really liked a low fantasy setting which was inspired by real history, but the interest for that ship has sailed and sunk into the depths
Of course the irony is how Martin lacks the self awareness to realize that he himself is being toxic in not listening to rational and legitimate objections or criticisms to his work or behavior...
"It is no longer enough to say 'I did not like [this]' " well, and guess WHO IS CHANGING THINGS for "newer audiences" instead of saying "I did not like [this]"? the woke is changing things. "I did not like [this]" was never an option for them.
I don’t understand how any artist can have an issue with criticism. Any art form was perfected through criticism. What worked, worked, and what didn’t, was called out and changed until it worked. I’m pretty sure the vast majority of famous artists had their work called “shit” at some point in their early years. They made their changes and then they became great.
That's not a good argument since you can technically say that about all books. I'm not sure why you people are all of a sudden insulting his work like it's all horrible when millions of people indulge in series.
@@LuznoLindo not an insult towards his books, but towards him. The books are quite decent, but it is an unfinished product. Imagine getting half of the food you requested in a restaurant after you ate already a part of the other half, in this case you did not get the other half and never will. If I said that history is actually better than his books deos not mean that his books are garbage, there are quite good. Don't take the "1000000 times better" literally.
I've given up on George RR Martin. As for criticism there were good and bad criticisms but only the bad criticisms were taken as serious. Issues of lighting and screwed up or unsatisfying character arcs, these are things that cannot be talked about while the emotional investment of people that couldn't be bothered to see their heroine descending into villainy through her actions those must be need to be catered to.
Hilarious. Fatman is one of those that championed excluding those considered 'unsavory' by the activists. From award shows to being published at all. I suppose he'll do anything to keep from having to finish his damn book.
Several things here. I am going out on a limb and figure Nerdrotic is getting to him if not the whole industry. We already have a Marvel actor saying M-She-U. And we know Gary has met George in person once (and refused to shake his hand). Also been seeing a lot of people in the industry blaming UA-camrs. So we went from having no power to overthrowing the enter establishment. Also going over George's points. Who has been the one in power George? Who is responsible for all of the recent wars? Because it's sure as hell not the orange man. Oh and now he wants to complain about cancel culture and toxicity. Need I say that he did nothing during the whole Sad Puppies fiasco. He said nothing for the past decade and only now that he is feeling the heat is he complaining. We did not want this George. We fans were just minding our own business and these activists came in and set all of our hobbies on fire. We just saw Harley Quin shoot Batman in the face not long after his voice actor sadly passed away. We aren't crazy for now just wanting these franchises to burn. George and his ilk did this. Guess Winds of Winter is never getting finished at this rate if he can just blame Trump and the fans for all of his problems.
This kinda confirms my suspicions that the ending in the show was closer to the ending he was planning then we thought and that’s probably why the series will never have an ending.
The fans have never been, and were never called toxic until the creators and studios started dividing them and disrespecting beloved Ip’s. But do people like him ever call out the creators and destructors of franchises toxic ? Never. For some reason these people are exempt from criticism and name calling. Yet the fans are free game.
I already knew George is quite a carton filled with stinky eggs as an author since I found out he supports Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden to the point of literally saying that he thinks Donald Trump is the worst president ever in American history. And I also think Elden Ring is overrated too.
Don't forget the misogyny! I seem to remember Amelia Clark claiming she was nearly abused on set and left naked on the series between shoots as well. It's always the same story from the weirdos.
Martin is not respectful of his audiences time, passion and attention and interest in his work at all PS. The terrible ending of Game of Thrones wasn’t just dumb and dumber’s fault It was also Martin’s fault, I don’t know why he thought Ryan Johnson’s brand of subverting expectations was a good idea pissing off majority of your audience with a bad ending (Subvert the expectations) of the audience has been co-opted by talentless Directors/screen, writers and authors after that movie came out.
GRRM won’t finish his books and his story will be forgotten because no one will be interested in reading an unfinished series. The show might have been abbreviated but that was the ending GRRM was planning to write… so we’re really not missing anything.
He could hire someone to ghost write a ending and just go a play with his money. He would shut his fans up and get them to leave him alone and just do whatever he wants. But he won't even do that much. I'm so glad I never got into his long winded crap.
I'll actually accept the label anti-fan. The UA-camrs mocking Hollywood content are generally more interesting than the thing they are mocking. A lot of stories I used to love have just become lolcows to me. I'll get my entertainment one way or the other. Make season 2 of House of the Dragon good, or I'll become an anti-fan of that too.
Regardless of how we got here, hes 100% rigut that you can't talk about anything without people being unhinged. You cant say something just isn't for you without losers losing their minds, trying to dox people and other crazy sh1t. People today have no brain and no control of emotions. Personally, i couldn't care less what anyone thinks about my opinions...im just sayin. By agreeing with this take, it doesn't mean anything about what hes done before. Also, ive never seen an episode of his show or read any books. Only thing ive interacted with involving him was Elden Ring, and honestly my dog could write a story that From Software could make great, so i don't believe he was necessary at all.
if activists or their politics are used in new creation is fine, not in existing things that had nothing to do with is not fine and not fun for anyone. And when attemts of the latter is made to much ans successfully done that media is more or less dead. Who watched witcher series especially the last season? who are interested in Witcher remake with censoring for modern audiance? who is interested in Rey movie? Who is interested in doctor who? who is interested in Halo tv series? etc etc.
Even Kentaro Miura, the creator of Berserk, was much way productive, creative and polite. Miura was famous because of his hiatuses, but he was trying to finish his saga. He was not whining about fans.
I understand that some people have been impatient with him when it comes to his delayed writing, but that doesn't mean every fan is toxic. they are passionate about their love for a certain IP. When it comes to ASOIAF, there is a limit to how patient people are. I'm not saying release the next book as soon a possible, but atleast be consistent with updating your fans.
Same deal with Patrick Rothfuss. He claimed his books were a trilogy but at the end of the second book it was obvious that the story was really only just getting started so his solution has just been to never write the third book.
What he doesn't understand is the degree to which the new owners of properties ( not the original creators ) have weaponized and distorted the IP to become their own personal thing. So it's not an issue of being toxic "about" the franchise. It's being toxic about the fact that the original franchise was completely destroyed by outsiders who never knew anything about it to begin with.
First piece of writing he's finished in over a decade is a twitter post. I hope it wasn't too difficult for him, if he exerts himself too hard he might have to retire.
This dude creeps me out, regardless of his works. Anybody that looks like a combination of a pirate and Santa Clause should be avoided at all costs imo.
For all you guys who like Rothfuss or Martin but a) wanna read something finished and b) wanna read something better, give the book series both them, sanderson and most modern fantasy writers ripped off a try. Memory Sorrow & Thorn by Tad Williams.
Id rather the ending have the night king taking Winterfel and killing everyone, because no matter how hard we all try, no one escapes death. Hell we just needed Jon to fight against the Nights King, i felt like i was edged for 8 fucking years.
Id actually be fine if he didnt finish the books under a lot of scenarios like say he was sick of the setting and wanted to do a different story like more of hisnthousand worlds stories or a stand alone like fever dream. My issue isnt that we didnt get winds of winter and a dream of spring it that what he's writting since abandoning them has been largely prequels and spin offs of a song of fire and ice Let me tell you the story before the story I refuse to finish is a lot more insulting than just not giving us an ending
There is no such thing as an "anti-fan." People who don't love something may comment briefly when it first comes out, then they forget all about it and move on. People who harp on a thing incessantly are real fans who are heartbroken that the thing they once loved has been destroyed right in front of their eyes.
Love how George has zero self reflection or interest in wondering how it got to this point. Maybe it people like George attacking everyone for not having blind loyalty to a product, that has lead to the issue he is seeing. But of course that can't be it. Than people like George would be the problem rather than the savors and their egos can't handle that they might be part of the problem and are not the heroes they want to picture themselves as.
Nerdrotic speculated lately in one if his streams that one of the reasons why GRRM couldn't finish his books is because of the people in his circle (staff that he hired or something) would always check or have something to say in order to make sure that their 'progressive' political ideology would be included in Martin's work. If this is true, i would be very pissed. It makes sense though, lately GRRM has been so anti-fans by blaming toxicity and failure of woke movies to fans.
If he's disinterested in finishing the books just hire a ghost writer to do it. Make them sign and NDA. Give them 50% cut of the royalties plus a flat 10 000 thousand dollars per book. Everyone wins.
You should see how people lose it when I say that GRR Martin owes it to his fans to either finish the series or apologise and manage expectations. I unironically get told that I basically want to enslave him and that I'm entitled. It's like we have a general war against standards and expectations
George is to angsty to finish his book series and to cowardly to admit it. And now, he searchs for excuses why he cannot work. There is nothing else behind his take.
It's like he just stays quiet for months at a time then suddenly appears to remind everyone how he's better than you while still not having finished his novels. Lol.
People assumed he meant it was fun years ago when you could actually say what you wanted, when he most likely meant 3- 4 years ago when discussion about a book meant arguing if all white men are worse or only the straight ones, and anyone else got banned off twitter.

Yep. My money is on the theory that Dan and Dave spoiled the ending by following his general storyboard-except shittily. So he knows that ending wouldn’t play well and is paralyzed trying to redirect.
At least king finished his big door stopper fantasy series even if the dark Tower did fall apart at the end. That's a step above Martin.
@@Josco83 I'm willing to bet his ending is shitty. Like he can't do any of the "obvious", so he can't just wed Dany and John and be done with it. And he also can't have either take the throne, or that'll be too "predictable". Yeah, his ending doesnt satisfy him.
Stephen King is still writing books. Every time a new one comes out, I see it at Walmart, the last one was Holly, the last I bought of his was If It Bleeds.
@@AlphaAurora lmao what a wimp. Who cares as long as it's good?
If you really think about it. George R.R. Martin is extremely toxic. He wrote Game of Thrones out of spite that Tolkien books had happy endings, so he wanted everyone to be miserable and die, and that is why he cannot finish his book since he would go back on his own "principal" of story writing.... That is all over Deviantart.
What do you mean, "all over DeviantArt"?
He is right. Toxicity is growing at an alarming rate. Because it's been 16 years, since he wrote the last book in the series. And people waiting for the equivalent of 4 presidential terms tend to get a bit annoyed.
That's not toxicity (waiting for the next book in the series)-
That's frustration and justified at that.
So you're telling me, if he had actually been writing, the series would have actually ended by now? Old men shouldn't be throwing tantrums.
There are others who have started their career and then published multiple multiple book series in the time it has taken him to write the next book in the series.
And know that double multiple is not a typo, I mean literally there are authors who have written extended multiple book series, plural, in the time it has taken him to write the next book in his series.

I agree, to an extent. It's the anime part i disagree with. Let's be real here and not pretend that anime isn't full of characters that are clearly pedo bait. I really wish Japan would just stop with the hyper sexualised depiction of literal children, pre teens or barely teens. It's not ok. It's genuinely disturbing how prevalent it is within a number of genres.

People are free to feel however they want about a piece of art and if George can’t handle it he should stop paying attention to it.
There is something 1000000 times better than his books or GoT it is called history. You can find way more drama in the Western/Eastern Roman Empire.
But no hot tub scenes of Emilia Clarke.
Write a book dude
He's just giving us his expert opinion on toxicity.
Hilarious. Fatman is one of those that championed excluding those considered 'unsavory' by the activists. From award shows to being published at all. I suppose he'll do anything to keep from having to finish his damn book.
By "anti-fans" he basically means anyone against his side.
We actually need more toxicity
You're very mistaken, then.
Never thought Epic Rap Battle to describe George THIS accurately in 2024.
Tolkien won that rap battle imo.
Well said, and props to u for being a nightwish fan!
Heaven forbid that one does one's job.
This kinda confirms my suspicions that the ending in the show was closer to the ending he was planning then we thought and that’s probably why the series will never have an ending.
Half-Life 3 will end up being released before he finishes his books.
"Peter Dinklage is my J.k. Rowling".. 😂 too funny
The fans have never been, and were never called toxic until the creators and studios started dividing them and disrespecting beloved Ip’s. But do people like him ever call out the creators and destructors of franchises toxic ? Never. For some reason these people are exempt from criticism and name calling. Yet the fans are free game.
Maybe George should focus on writing instead of tweeting, 10 years and counting now 😂

He's salty because the HBO series ending was so bad it essentially ruined the legacy of his magnum opus before he even finished it.
I think most people don't care by now
Martin is not respectful of his audiences time, passion and attention and interest in his work at all
PS. The terrible ending of Game of Thrones wasn’t just dumb and dumber’s fault It was also Martin’s fault, I don’t know why he thought Ryan Johnson’s brand of subverting expectations was a good idea pissing off majority of your audience with a bad ending
(Subvert the expectations) of the audience has been co-opted by talentless Directors/screen, writers and authors after that movie came out.
GRRM won’t finish his books and his story will be forgotten because no one will be interested in reading an unfinished series.
The show might have been abbreviated but that was the ending GRRM was planning to write… so we’re really not missing anything.
I personally have a long standing traidition that I will buy or read a story if I know it's unfinished. I'm sure a lot of people are like me on that.
He could hire someone to ghost write a ending and just go a play with his money. He would shut his fans up and get them to leave him alone and just do whatever he wants. But he won't even do that much. I'm so glad I never got into his long winded crap.
It would be better than what he has in mind and/or would give the fans what they want, and it would eat at him forever.
You know you have won an argument when the person arguing with you can only say "Why do you Care?"
Regardless of how we got here, hes 100% rigut that you can't talk about anything without people being unhinged. if activists or their politics are used in new creation is fine, not in existing things that had nothing to do with is not fine and not fun for anyone. And when attemts of the latter is made to much ans successfully done that media is more or less dead. Who is interested in doctor who? who is interested in Halo tv series? etc etc.
Even Kentaro Miura, the creator of Berserk, was much way productive, creative and polite.
Miura was famous because of his hiatuses, but he was trying to finish his saga.
He was not whining about fans.
Just like the toxic people blaming other people for being toxic.
If George R.R Martin was born 20 years more early he would been able to finish his books.

Id actually be fine if he didnt finish the books under a lot of scenarios like say he was sick of the setting and wanted to do a different story like more of hisnthousand worlds stories or a stand alone like fever dream.
My issue isnt that we didnt get winds of winter and a dream of spring it that what he's writting since abandoning them has been largely prequels and spin offs of a song of fire and ice
Let me tell you the story before the story I refuse to finish is a lot more insulting than just not giving us an ending
That what happens when you don't step down from your mountain of gold and talk to the people who gave it to you.
How can it be hate speech when I love doing it?
Nerdrotic speculated lately in one if his streams that one of the reasons why GRRM couldn't finish his books is because of the people in his circle (staff that he hired or something) would always check or have something to say in order to make sure that their 'progressive' political ideology would be included in Martin's work. If this is true, i would be very pissed.
It makes sense though, lately GRRM has been so anti-fans by blaming toxicity and failure of woke movies to fans.
Odin: you are not worthy of the R R in your name!
I saw that you appeared in a Louder with Crowder video from 1st February. You're going places, Vee :)
Maybe if they stopped ruining everything I liked then I'd stop being toxic.
Remember: All the time he spends writing dumb internet posts is time he's not using finishing his fucking books.
George is to angsty to finish his book series and to cowardly to admit it. And now, he searchs for excuses why he cannot work. There is nothing else behind his take.
It's like he just stays quiet for months at a time then suddenly appears to remind everyone how he's better than you while still not having finished his novels. Lol.
The first time I heard of George RR Martin was when I heard what he had to say about Tolkien
People assumed he meant it was fun years ago when you could actually say what you wanted, when he most likely meant 3- 4 years ago when discussion about a book meant arguing if all white men are worse or only the straight ones, and anyone else got banned off twitter.
He's as knowledgable in fandoms the same way he's knowledgeble on health and fitness.

I think its pretty stupid to try and hold your creative work hostage unless your political party wins
